OM45GE - Posted - 03/05/2013:  09:28:52

Good luck with it.

DeanT - Posted - 03/05/2013:  09:55:37

don;t forget the whiskey

dat - Posted - 03/05/2013:  10:29:05

as long as there is weather, you need a jug of wiz

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 03/05/2013:  13:45:41

I went shopping yesterday!

ErikH - Posted - 03/05/2013:  15:42:29

We're in the middle of a snow event right now.  About six inches on the ground, and probably another four or five overnight before it's all said and done.

DeanT - Posted - 03/05/2013:  16:16:24

please send it all to snowless Kansas

dmiller - Posted - 03/05/2013:  23:34:53

I have a bunch here at my house, Dean.

I'll send it your way if you pay the shipping cost.

DeanT - Posted - 03/05/2013:  23:54:03

It would be cheaper to just move north!

OM45GE - Posted - 03/06/2013:  04:53:26

You should check the housing prices in Andover before you say that.

dat - Posted - 03/06/2013:  05:48:15

I'm glad we don't have snow,  I like winter, but after two weeks of cold I'm ready for spring

DeanT - Posted - 03/06/2013:  07:19:51

Selling our house (which is paid for) would barely give us enough for a down payment on a house in Maine (where I'd like to go). We are stuck in Kansas...

dat - Posted - 03/06/2013:  07:25:46

stuck in Kansas   that reminded me of this     youtube.com/watch?v=WxgBXJM6zJ8

Alaina - Posted - 03/06/2013:  08:46:29

Makes me glad I live in SD (even if it is colder than I'd like right now..)

dat - Posted - 03/06/2013:  09:00:21

We had a good frost this morning, I had to scrape my windshield

Alaina - Posted - 03/06/2013:  09:22:55

I don't miss those days. I just miss the snow days lol

dat - Posted - 03/06/2013:  10:13:24

usually if we get snow, it's wet and freezes to everything, more like frozen slush than snow

mbanjo - Posted - 03/06/2013:  12:29:51

I haven't seen decent 'slush' since I lived in England 50 years ago

dat - Posted - 03/06/2013:  12:38:03

Sounds like you've seen a lot of the world

mbanjo - Posted - 03/06/2013:  12:54:03

I haven't seen enough of it yet......there are plenty of places left on my list.........plus a few places I don't wish to see:-)

dat - Posted - 03/06/2013:  13:28:55

I don't figure I'll get to see as much as I would like, the way it is now, our traveling is from work the the gas station then home and back to work..   there are a lot of places here in the states I would like to see, yellowstone, yosemite, big bend, the redwood forrests, mt rushmore, the grand canyon,   and anywhere with mountians

DeanT - Posted - 03/06/2013:  13:31:16

I went running today and worked on my tan again. Good old Kansas winter sunburn

dat - Posted - 03/06/2013:  13:34:40

I have a heater going under my desk and the door open to the shop, cool but nice, the sun is shining

DeanT - Posted - 03/06/2013:  15:34:27

Just picked up my first pair of no line bifocals. Man these are weird... I can see my watch and my keyboard for the first time in a few years... but looking around is like a 70's flashback....

OM45GE - Posted - 03/06/2013:  16:35:31

I've been wearing those for years. They took a ton of getting used to.

DeanT - Posted - 03/06/2013:  17:00:07

I'm tripping on stuff... looking down sucks.

OM45GE - Posted - 03/07/2013:  02:30:10

Exactly. I still have trouble hiking on rough trails with them on. I'm either looking at my feet all the time and missing the scenery or tripping over every root and rock.

Figuring out what part of the glasses to look through when you're driving is fun too.

ErikH - Posted - 03/07/2013:  02:30:27

I've had them for two years.  I didn't have much trouble; I took to them pretty quickly.

OM45GE - Posted - 03/07/2013:  02:45:20

They've improved a lot over the years. My first pair had tiny areas that were to the prescription with the peripheries all out of focus. Now much more of the lens is effective.

dat - Posted - 03/07/2013:  05:49:41

I think I'm about to have to go to walgreens and pick up a pair of those reading glasses,   I can see, but it takes me a little longer to focus when it is close than it used to

DeanT - Posted - 03/07/2013:  07:43:04

Driving with them is a total pain. I thinks it's safer without glasses than with the bifocals. Day two and I hate them worse every minute.

dat - Posted - 03/07/2013:  07:50:54

don't give up on them yet, your bride is probably enjoying watching you try to walk

OM45GE - Posted - 03/07/2013:  08:33:32

It does get better. I broke my first pair and had to go back to the lined bifocals and it was awful.

dat - Posted - 03/07/2013:  09:23:09

I've thought about just taking a small magnifying glass with me everywhere I go, then use it as a monocle

OM45GE - Posted - 03/07/2013:  10:42:45

One of my friends wears two pairs of those "cheater" glasses from the drugstore - one for distance and one for reading. I looks pretty weird but it works for him.

dat - Posted - 03/07/2013:  11:53:12

if I had longer arms I could read better

OM45GE - Posted - 03/07/2013:  11:57:57

they don't come long enough for me.

DeanT - Posted - 03/07/2013:  15:36:35

My lovely bride is in this with me... she got her first new no lines the same time I did. I have to admit, I can see the computer better... and all the dirt and dust on everything too... damn....

OM45GE - Posted - 03/07/2013:  15:42:23

LOL

dat - Posted - 03/08/2013:  05:37:16

I'm glad my bride doesn't have glasses, she's always cleaning as it is now

OM45GE - Posted - 03/08/2013:  05:49:15

That's funny

DeanT - Posted - 03/08/2013:  07:32:55

I think today is going to be a glasses free day. I  need a break

OM45GE - Posted - 03/08/2013:  11:07:47

I wish I could take a break from them. I really hate wearing glasses - I've been wearing them over 50 years now.

dat - Posted - 03/08/2013:  11:52:12

 did you start like this?

 1.10glasses-01

DeanT - Posted - 03/08/2013:  12:44:47

I've been wearing them since 4th grade... so getting close to 50 years for me too. But my last prescription was in 97, and I kept passing my drivers test, so I kept blowing off getting new glasses. I finally got to the point I couldn't see my watch or fill out checks etc... so I got new glasses with my tax refund. First bifocals, and I hate them.

dat - Posted - 03/08/2013:  14:35:31

I probably need to get to the eye doc, but it's 150 bucks that will buy gas and groceries right now

OM45GE - Posted - 03/08/2013:  16:20:20

I thought they were cool when I first got them. I had John Lennon style gold rim glasses. Now they're pretty much just a pain.

OM45GE - Posted - 03/08/2013:  16:22:14

did you start like this?

LOL, Thanks for the compliment. I started wearing them when I was 11 or 12 and I'm 61 now.

DeanT - Posted - 03/08/2013:  17:22:41

I wanted perfectly round radar glasses... but my wife had other ideas. Ancient chinese proverb: Wife who picks out husband's frames, is happy wife who wont complain.
