mine are still going pretty good, but I wouldn't give them much of a warrantee...

I've got a gimpy right shoulder, lower back and left knee. Not too bad (yet)

I keep my orthopedic surgeon in fine cars. I've had two surgeries on my left knee, one on my right knee, left ankle surgery, right rotator cuff surgery and I've torn my left rotator cuff twice but treated it with physical therapy. It's acting up again and has me nervous.

I was keeping my rheumatologist in business up until 2012. The more I ran, the less I needed her and the meds. In 2012 I canceled my next appointment, flushed the meds, and have never been back.
chuckv97 - Posted - 11/29/2016: 17:10:36
That's excellent, Dean. I'm not on any meds, all my blood test results are good, but I take vitamins and herbal supplements. Plus good genes, I guess.

I think keeping active is very important. I may have had injuries, but I'm still doing five to ten miles a day and I still ski and I feel good.
DeanT - Posted - 11/30/2016: 03:10:17
I also take supplements, including multi, calcium, glucosamine/condroiten, Iron, and fish oil. Staying active has made all the difference in the world for me.
OM45GE - Posted - 11/30/2016: 07:55:18
I do as well. Lots of fun.

I agree. I learn new finger style songs all the time. That's certainly a mental workout.
DeanT - Posted - 12/01/2016: 05:59:45
I'm pretty happy just retaining songs... our setlist book is over 450 songs now.

youtu.be/AtEFXm7eobg I keep telling myself to quit learning new tunes cuz I'll forget the others. But I can't resist latching on to another when I hear it and get fired up. There are a bunch I played 35 years ago that I still need to revive. So many tunes....so little time. Like this one - I was in a little band in the late '70's that played a couple of gigs on Salt Spring Island, one of the west coast Gulf Islands.

Oh Man!! John Reischman!! I haven't thought about him in years! I first heard of him when he was in the Good Old Persons, and then years later on I heard about The Jaybirds and got to hear them too.. Great musicians and singers. The first tune I heard him on (with the GOP) was The Itzbin Reel. Thanks for reminding me about him!
DeanT - Posted - 12/01/2016: 10:44:30
We started learning songs from the 1920's-1930's... just now starting to get into the 50's...
OM45GE - Posted - 12/01/2016: 10:55:51
I do some tunes from the good old days, Ain't Misbehavin', Summertime, that sort of stuff.
chuckv97 - Posted - 12/01/2016: 10:58:59
I used to play "Misty" , "My Funny Valentine" and "Georgia" on guitar when I did a few restaurant gigs
DeanT - Posted - 12/01/2016: 15:38:27
We do Aint Misbehaving... great song! They just don't write em like that anymore.
dmiller - Posted - 12/01/2016: 19:45:52
A friend of mine does "Don't Get Around Much Anymore"
He wrote a "spoof verse" that he tosses in at the end of the song.
"Went to the bathroom last night (da da da dum)
Peed all over the floor (da da da dum)
Cleaned it up with my toothbrush,
Don't brush my teeth much anymore"

That's a good one. I like making up goofy verses to songs. Given my perverse sense of humor, most can't be shared here.

More than once I've sung...."I know you're married but I love your still" :-)

Flake's Helpful Hints #197........If you by chance leave your soldering iron on your patio, or anywhere else for that matter, and it rains on it, you should remember these two things before using it again : Don't grab it until the sizzling noise inside the handle stops; Just because the sizzling stops is NOT an "all clear".
Thank you for your kind attention.

I'm not a big fan of electricity. Every time I've grabbed a mic while holding onto an electric guitar it's been like some kind of crap shoot to discover whether the people who wired the building knew what a ground was. I watched a 240 pound, six foot three guy get blown across a parking lot while working on his car battery (wedding ring). So the fact that I can be so sloppy with the juice sometimes doesn't say much for my learning curve.

Right there with you Dean. I'm an acoustic guy but I still love my Stratocaster.

Don't spread the news, but I secretly like a lot of early rock guitar solos, as well as old blues and jazz guys- Charlie Christian, T-Bone Walker, etc. The "25 or 6 to 4" Chicago solo still sends me, also some of Randy Bachman's guitar work with Guess Who and BTO.
OM45GE - Posted - 12/03/2016: 12:18:24
Sorry Chuck, but you just spread the news. I'm right there with you.

I like them all. No one mentioned other greats like Roy Buchanan, Guitar Shorty, Johnny Lang, Rory Block, Bonnie Raite...too many to list them all. It's hard to pick one out, but Stevie Ray Vaughan has to be near the top of any list of guitar greats.
chuckv97 - Posted - 12/04/2016: 06:57:50
I like the finger picker so - Merle Travis, Chet Atkins, Jerry Reed, Mark Knopfler, etc.

We only got a couple of inches. I shipped some snowballs to you. Let me know when they get there.
