Well I got up this morning and the radio said it was a "winter storm" outside. I must have still been half asleep because I ran to the window expecting snow... Nope, it's drizzling rain... Way to get my hopes up!
dat - Posted - 01/10/2013: 08:06:42
I think we're going camping this weekend, we might leave this evening then drive in to work from the woods
DeanT - Posted - 01/10/2013: 10:54:04
Why do people go camping when everything they need is at home? :)
mbanjo - Posted - 01/10/2013: 13:24:31
I used to spend just about every weekend camping out......I loved the winter time especially........
ErikH - Posted - 01/10/2013: 14:56:48
Winter camping is the best. I've slept in a tent when it was 13 below F. When it gets below 15 the snow is very dry and easy to brush off your clothes and keep out of the tent. No bugs, either.
Alaina - Posted - 01/10/2013: 15:14:39
It's funny, I love going out camping, sleeping in a tent, campfires, all that. My mom, on the other hand, won't go "camping" unless there is indoor plumbing haha
DeanT - Posted - 01/10/2013: 17:55:48
My first wife loved camping. Man we blew a lot of money and endless weekend on it. I never really understood it. And when she left, so did camping in my life! I would be fine with never ever spending another night anywhere else but my bed, right down the hall from my bathroom, where the water is warm and the toilet flushes.
mbanjo - Posted - 01/10/2013: 18:06:32
The worst thing about camping is having to take so much equipment to ensure that you are comfortable...........I had a 4wd and trailer full of gear and food....I always returned home when the ice or booze ran out.
ErikH - Posted - 01/11/2013: 02:27:43
Another nice thing about winter camping; you can put it all on a sled and drag it behind you.
The only thing I never liked was having to unpack everything when you get back.
dat - Posted - 01/11/2013: 05:53:38
last night was nice, a little on the cool side but nice. after work today I'll head to the woods and not come out 'till sunday evening
DeanT - Posted - 01/11/2013: 07:17:37
My brother does the winter thing... and has a pack of sled dogs for the hauling

That's why you get a tent that sits in the truck bed, an air mattress with an electric pump that plugs into the cigarette lighter spot, two sleeping bags, and then whatever food and drinks you want. Then there is no sleeping on the hard ground, animals can't get into your stuff easily, and you don't have to worry about waking up soaking wet should it start raining while you're sleeping because you're up off the ground.
dat - Posted - 01/11/2013: 08:49:14
I never could get warm sleeping on an air mattress, we take army cots with us, a quilt under and one or two over you and you'll stay warm.

That's where spooning becomes convenient as well as comfy lol

it's good to get comfortable, I've gotta go by the grocery store and get a couple of steaks to burn tonight, my bride took off work yesterday at lunch took today off. kinda makes it hard to stay at work
Alaina - Posted - 01/11/2013: 09:51:40
You sure you're feeling well? I think you might be coming down with a cough or sore throat. Maybe you should go home. I mean, you don't want to get everyone sick, right? ![]()
dat - Posted - 01/11/2013: 13:52:18
bad thing is, with me, a shot leads to a bottle and doesn't stop. sooooo, I'll just get a few beers for the rest of the trip
Alaina - Posted - 01/11/2013: 13:53:17
I have yet to do an entire shot of that, I do enough of one that it clears me up and I leave it at that. I like sweet stuff, remember?
dat - Posted - 01/11/2013: 14:11:30
do you like tootsie rolls? try a tootsie roll drink, 1 part kahlua, 1 part orange juice, doesn't sound like it would, but it tastes just like a tootsie roll
ErikH - Posted - 01/11/2013: 14:53:04
Don't care for Goldschlager. Tastes like Big Red chewing gum. It is funny though, if ou do the shot with your mouth closed and suck it through your teeth, you wind up with a gold grill.
dat - Posted - 01/11/2013: 14:56:42
last shot I did I ended up with an empty half gallon bottle of Jim Beam

If I drank that much Jim Beam, I wouldn't wake up the next few days and they would have to pump my stomach. It wouldn't be pretty. I meant the tootsie roll smart one ![]()

my brother used to be a bartender, he would always mix something different up when we went to visit, well, he still does.
I always liked a white russian
Alaina - Posted - 01/11/2013: 15:09:15
I like a cherry gummy bear if we are talking drinks. A really yummy shot, though, is a pineapple upside down cake shot.
ErikH - Posted - 01/11/2013: 15:10:00
I never went much for the mixed drinks, aside from whiskey highballs, or gin and tonic, or the occasional martini.
dat - Posted - 01/11/2013: 15:13:51
I was partial to Jim Beam and ice, or maby Jim Beam and Coke, or Jim Beam and water, or just Jim Beam

Everything! Why else would someone voluntarily risk getting sand in all of those places?

Waking up in a strange place or with a strange person is something else I don't miss from my drinking days. Or waking up in my own bed and having to look outside to see if the car was there because I didn't rembember driving home.
Alaina - Posted - 01/11/2013: 15:25:54
I don't combine alcohol and mixed company that I don't trust everyone there. That way I know nothing will happen
dat - Posted - 01/11/2013: 15:26:31
or waking up on the floor in the bathroom and thinking that the cold tile actually felt good
Alaina - Posted - 01/11/2013: 15:28:58
No, I've done that. But it was after a nasty run in with the flu and I was just too exhausted from puking to move.
