I think Kansas was as hot as Texas this year, probably as dry and hot of a year that either have seen in a while
dat - Posted - 10/24/2011: 08:22:18
we were blessed with a quarter of an inch of rain last weekend, most we've had in a great long while

That just really scares me.

I try to look at the bright side, firewood is plentyfull, there are oak trees all over the place that need cutting down now
Mr. Quimby - Posted - 10/24/2011: 12:05:11
There's this gorgeous tree up the road from me that I think may have died this year in the extreme heat we had over the summer. I'm so sad. It is this beautiful old oak. When they put in the road, they left a median right there and saved the tree. And now you drive by and all the leaves are brown and dead looking.
Maybe it'll revive next spring but I'm not real optimistic.
dat - Posted - 10/24/2011: 12:13:53
sometimes they will make it, they'll drop their leaves early to save water, then go dormant early and come out the next spring ok if the winter is wet enough

I just walked by cute guy's desk. (He's back from vacation.) He's wearing sandals and listening to Italian opera.
I'm trying to decide if that means he's cultured or just a dork.
DeanT - Posted - 10/24/2011: 14:05:52
Well, what if he was wearing cowboy boots and listening to the Urban cowboy soundtrack?
DeanT - Posted - 10/25/2011: 07:18:15
Sounds like a health kick thing from the 70's or something... granola women didn't shave their armpits.
dat - Posted - 10/25/2011: 08:52:59
our parts guy was at Woodstock when he was 17, I believe he has flashbacks from the early 70's
DeanT - Posted - 10/25/2011: 10:16:44
I still have flashbacks from the 70's... I was in like in 6th grade when Woodstock happened...
dat - Posted - 10/25/2011: 10:29:10
I wasn't born untill the end of august in '69 so I missed Woodstock by a few weeks and about 1600 miles
DeanT - Posted - 10/26/2011: 07:22:41
After seeing some of the mud in the old films... I'm kind of glad I was at home learning long division...
dat - Posted - 10/27/2011: 10:50:36
must have been his medication messed up, he just couldn't have done any drugs back then
dat - Posted - 10/28/2011: 05:49:06
he was looking for just the right level of blood in his alcohol level
DeanT - Posted - 10/28/2011: 07:31:41
I think something called blotter might have also been part of it... not that I would know
dat - Posted - 10/28/2011: 08:02:28
Kinda ironic that John Balushi did a parody of it youtube.com/watch?v=dHaA4RePosY

Someone must have beat me to the post office because it's all gone this morning.
dat - Posted - 10/31/2011: 06:59:42
ifin you get another batch of snow and there is enough left over after going to Kansas, would you send some to Texas too?
dat - Posted - 10/31/2011: 07:15:16
I got this in an e mail, funny to me...
Last night my daughter just walked into the living room and said, "Dad, cancel my allowance immediately, rent my room out, throw all my clothes out of the window, take my TV, stereo, iPhone, iPod, and my laptop. Please take all of my jewelry to the Salvation Army or Goodwill. Then sell my new car.
Take my front door key away from me and throw me out of the house. Then disown me and never talk to me again. And don't forget to write me out of your will and leave my share to my sister."
Well, she didn't put it quite like that. What she actually said was...
'Dad, I have decided to work for Obama's re-election campaign.'"
DeanT - Posted - 10/31/2011: 07:31:13
I can't believe the guy will even try to run... Hey we can talk all the politics we want... no one ever checks this thread...
dat - Posted - 10/31/2011: 10:14:23
I'm guessing as long as nobody fusses about it, so far politics haven't really been discussed, it would be more like family matters
DeanT - Posted - 10/31/2011: 11:17:52
My family would not be very happy if the present president got re-elected.
DeanT - Posted - 10/31/2011: 17:52:02
Heck, I'd even vote for Larry the Cable Guy over the current guy....
dat - Posted - 11/02/2011: 06:12:41
....... I believe the guy that is president now is a putz, but then again that is talking about the person, not the position, so it would not be political. right?
DeanT - Posted - 11/02/2011: 07:25:01
It really doesn't matter on this thread because it's flying under the radar. Sort of like talking about the Pope being a Nazi youth... something I didn't know until recently.
