DeanT - Posted - 11/07/2013: 05:52:49
Frost in Kansas last night. Would be nice to have a winter home in south Texas, but I haven't won the lottery yet

ifin you had a home in south tex, you'ld have a bunch of mezkin bandit drug dealers runnin through yer yard
DeanT - Posted - 11/07/2013: 12:59:23
If I won the lottery, they'd have to run through several thousand acres and lots of rescued dogs...

my brides aunt and uncle had a little cabin in south tex close to the boarder, as long as they didn't lock it when they weren't there, everything was good when they went back. if they locked it, it would have the door broken in and something was torn up

I said "yeehaw" in an email this morning and now someone thinks I'm from Texas.
dat - Posted - 11/08/2013: 08:43:26
we here in texas can always tell somebody is from somewhere else, they always say yeehaw when they get here
dat - Posted - 11/08/2013: 13:16:40
my bride gets a little aggravated when we go somewhere and somebody says how "country" she talks, around here it's normal, then we go to one of the big cities or we're traveling and they say they like her accent. a lot of waitresses have to practice, you can tell the real thing.
PS, I hope my bride doesn't read this, she gets mad when I give her a hard time about somebody saying something about her accent 'cause she thinks I have one

There's nothing worse than a truck stop waitress in Illinois trying to talk Texan....
dmiller - Posted - 11/09/2013: 22:22:50
That depends. If that waitress was in southern Illinois,
I'd say it was legit. If up on I-80 (near Chicago), I'd
probably have to agree with you.
DeanT - Posted - 11/09/2013: 23:56:37
And then there's the Georgia waitresses at the Huddle Houses...

our youngest girl does that, she thinks it sounds like an English accent, I tell her she has to much East Texas wang to be English, but she keeps on and laughs

There was a young lady (a high school classmate of mine), who went to England in 1969 to study while she was still in high school, junior year. She was a (somewhat) plain looking gal when she left, but when she came back - - - What a difference!
She had long straight hair/ was wearing mini skirts (unheard of in southern Indiana at the time)/ and had a distinct British accent she picked up over the past year of being overseas for studies. She attracted the boys when she got back to our school like honey gets flies. She had to beat them off with a stick, but she took her time about doing it! ![]()

Fashions today have nothing on the mini skirt and tube top days
dat - Posted - 11/14/2013: 12:05:17
I don't remember her name, but who was that girl on "the fall guy"
Mr. Quimby - Posted - 11/16/2013: 16:15:19
I'm embarrassed to admit my first celebrity crush was Shawn Cassidy.
DeanT - Posted - 11/18/2013: 10:23:10
There's a name I didn't remember, I had to google her... a little after my time. By the time Facts of life came out, I was working second shift. I hated second shift!

Oh how I wish they would invent a time machine. I'll take a one way trip right back to the 60's
dat - Posted - 11/19/2013: 14:16:13
our parts man was at Woodstock in "69 when he was 18, he stayed the whole time from set up to tear down, he has some stories
dat - Posted - 11/20/2013: 08:36:51
I'm not sure of when I would like a time machine to drop me off, guessing probably the 50's
