we went to an astros game a couple of years ago (probably last time they won a game)  expensive and crowded with a lot of traffic to get out.  the tickets to get in weren't much, but once you got in it costs

OM45GE - Posted - 01/31/2014:  07:17:40

I do like going to the Red Sox. The weather's usually nicer, I take the train into town and I like baseball better than football anyway.

dat - Posted - 01/31/2014:  09:26:53

I never really kept up with football, baseball is fun to play but I don't watch it often, if I sir down to a TV I won't watch the whole game, but watching live I will,    it's about a 2 hour drive to Houston, so we don't go often, but it isn't a bad drive. you can still get cheap seats that aren't bad

OM45GE - Posted - 01/31/2014:  09:58:53

I'm actually more of a Formula 1 racing fan. I've been following that since the 1960's.

Those guys are wacked! And the ones standing in the middle with no place to run are even more wacked! Thanks for sharing that.

I have a Correct Craft ski boat with a 351 Cleveland Ford with GT40 heads on it that will get up and ramble, but it's rowboat compared to those things.

<----- I like dog racing myself. Awesome machines

They are insane. I watched them on YouTube for a couple of hours one night.

dat - Posted - 01/31/2014:  13:19:58

those little sprint boats would make good duck hunting/ river running boats, 'course you'ld have to slow way down to shoot a duck

OM45GE - Posted - 01/31/2014:  14:09:07

You could just run them over!

We do most of our duck hunting from blinds on shore.

dat - Posted - 01/31/2014:  14:18:40

we stand out in the edge of the water and act like a stump, or we back up to a tree or brush in the flooded backwater.   we used to run down the river in a boat and jump shoot them, but thats a felony now, so we quit doing that

OM45GE - Posted - 01/31/2014:  14:22:45

I could hunt Canada Geese with a club around here. They've got no fear at all.

dat - Posted - 01/31/2014:  14:57:14

a friend of mine ran a trotline and baited it with green giant whole kernel corn,  had a duck on must every hook the next morning.

I couldn't do that though, I like shooting them, but I don't want them stuck in a hook

Not very sporting is it?

dat - Posted - 01/31/2014:  15:03:42

no,   I have a better chance of missing when I use a shotgun,

dat - Posted - 01/31/2014:  15:10:03

our little river boat was a 14 ft v bottom duracraft B model, it was rated for an 18 hp, but we had the transom built up and ran it with a 40 hp johnson with 60 hp carbs.    it was fun,

OM45GE - Posted - 01/31/2014:  16:32:12

That must have flown! We had a 10' aluminum pram...sqaure bow, flat bottom, with a 10 horse Johnson on it. It go on plane immediately and went pretty good. Best of all, it was stable as a front porch. I still have it up at my brother's house.

I used to work with a guy who would go down to Fort Dix in NJ. They had a lot of land in the Pine Barrens that was closed to hunting and there were hundreds of just about tame deer. They were tiny because of the numbers. He use to walk up to them with a 22 pistol and fill the back of his pickup with them. Then he'd take them to New York City and sell them to restaurants. He made a pile of money. Talk about not sporting.

dat - Posted - 02/01/2014:  09:20:04

it would scoot along pretty good, and with being a v bottom, it would turn on a dime, seems like the faster you went, the faster you could turn.  on a winding river, you never had to let off the throttle

OM45GE - Posted - 02/01/2014:  09:36:35

My ski boat has three little fins along the center line. You can crank the wheel over at full throttle and it seems like it turns in it's own length.

DeanT - Posted - 02/01/2014:  10:26:02

The only boat I had was an Olds Delta 98

dat - Posted - 02/01/2014:  10:54:47

I used to pretty much be a river rat, I was running the river more than I was at home. when you couldn't afford to do anything else you could still ride in the boat all day.  now the gas for the boat and truck cost enough to make you stay home

OM45GE - Posted - 02/01/2014:  14:04:40

I enjoy the high speed runs but I do a lot of slow cruising. The gas goes a lot longer

DeanT - Posted - 02/03/2014:  05:40:37

Broncos did a lot of slow cruising, and had no gas

OM45GE - Posted - 02/03/2014:  06:24:48

They were pretty lame.

dat - Posted - 02/03/2014:  06:47:16

all the broncos were upset that 'Niffer didn't move to Colorado, none of them could play well knowing she wasn't going to be there

OM45GE - Posted - 02/03/2014:  06:58:36

That is a distraction to be sure.

dat - Posted - 02/03/2014:  13:14:20

OM45GE - Posted - 02/03/2014:  14:09:02

I don't remember that one. I'll have to Google it.

OM45GE - Posted - 02/04/2014:  02:57:10

Oh yeah. Now I remember. That was pretty funny. I wasn't a huge Hanna Barbera. I thought the animation was cheesy.

dat - Posted - 02/04/2014:  08:26:31

I was more foghorn leghorn and roadrunner/ coyote.

I never figured out though why Pluto couldn't talk but Goofy could
