Didn't you hate numbers with a lot of zeros in them? It took so long to dial! cool

DeanT - Posted - 07/24/2012:  19:48:23

Was your old phone a wall or a desk top? Ours was a wall phone. You would have to stand there to talk... long calls would get tiring

OM45GE - Posted - 07/25/2012:  04:26:28

I remember two phones when I was little. A wall phone in the kitchen and a desk phone in the living room.

dat - Posted - 07/25/2012:  05:51:38

ours was on the wall, the string on the handset was to short to sit down, you had to stand untill you were done talking,   we didn't spend much time on the phone though

DeanT - Posted - 07/25/2012:  07:00:45

didnt the phone company issue you the phone?... and there were like two choices

dat - Posted - 07/25/2012:  07:19:49

I'm not sure of the choices, but the phone company did issue the phone

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 07/25/2012:  07:45:25

My parents paid "rent" on their phone for years. Even after they had actually bought their own phones they still had two in the house from the phone company and paid a monthly charge for them.

I think Dad finally took them back to the phone company like last year. The woman he gave the phone to had no idea what to do with it.

OM45GE - Posted - 07/25/2012:  10:00:51

Isn't it odd that we used to get our television over the airwaves and our phone over the wires. Now we get television over the wires and much of our phone over the airwaves.

dat - Posted - 07/25/2012:  10:36:49

we don't even have the TV hooked up anymore, we never watched it anyway, we can still put in a tape or dvd, but nothing coming through the wires or airways to it

DeanT - Posted - 07/25/2012:  11:35:56

My wife watches her soap opera on line in the evening...

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 07/25/2012:  12:11:05

My DVD player died so I've been watching my DVDs on the computer. I have a feeling I'm going to burn that out soon, too. I watch movies a lot.

dat - Posted - 07/25/2012:  12:53:34

me, I go through Sgt York,  to Kill a Mocking bird,  Outlaw Josie Wales,  second hand lions,  lonesome dove,  McClintock,  Old yeller,  Blazing Saddles,  and  Shrek , then start over.    it takes about a year to do that

DeanT - Posted - 07/25/2012:  17:03:58

I never watch movies, I'm always practicing or doing stuff with my dogs

OM45GE - Posted - 07/26/2012:  04:21:05

I watch the news while eating breakfast in the morning and I follow Formula One racing. Other than that I don't watch much at all. My wife and son do though.

dat - Posted - 07/26/2012:  06:22:55

I'll listen to the news on the way to work and on the way home

DeanT - Posted - 07/26/2012:  07:01:32

we have the news on during supper every evening

OM45GE - Posted - 07/26/2012:  09:34:17

The only problem with having the news on during meals is that I often lose my appetite. Maybe I could sell it as a diet!

DeanT - Posted - 07/26/2012:  10:00:18

I think most of the other stuff that's on is even worse for appitite.

dat - Posted - 07/26/2012:  10:03:22

good reason to turn that thing off

DeanT - Posted - 07/26/2012:  10:52:52

Not during the olympics!

That's kind of what I do.  I basically watch the same group of movies or TV shows over and over and over.

Lately I've been watching the Harry Potter movies.  I've probably watched the whole bunch of them 7 or 8 times this summer.

dat - Posted - 07/26/2012:  13:57:48

I've seen a couple of those 5 or 6 years ago, maby longer

DeanT - Posted - 07/27/2012:  10:53:26

Actually, we get this every summer, and have ever since I can remember. The only difference the last few years is the lack of rain.

dat - Posted - 07/27/2012:  11:12:27

We have had a pretty mild summer this year.  it's only 90 right now and 65 % humidity,  it's almost August, we're having May / June  weather now

OM45GE - Posted - 07/27/2012:  21:30:23

It's too bad we couldn't average things out.

DeanT - Posted - 07/28/2012:  00:38:19

I want to move to Alaska wonder if there are any bands looking for a banjo player up there...

OM45GE - Posted - 07/28/2012:  06:22:02

Do you like mosquitoes?

DeanT - Posted - 07/28/2012:  07:39:44

Are they as big as the ones in Maine?

OM45GE - Posted - 07/28/2012:  14:14:07

Not really, but there are enough of them to pick you up and carry you home to eat later.

DeanT - Posted - 07/28/2012:  21:01:39

If I ever leave Kansas, It will probably be Maine... that's where my wife is from

OM45GE - Posted - 07/29/2012:  15:57:43

Where in Maine is she from? My mother's side of the family is from Maine and my sister still lives up there.

DeanT - Posted - 07/29/2012:  16:12:53

Kennebunk

OM45GE - Posted - 07/29/2012:  16:25:06

Nice area. We've got friends who live up there about a block from the beach. I used to run a trucking company based in Scarborough and before that ran one that serviced the whole state.

DeanT - Posted - 07/29/2012:  17:37:24

It scares me to visit... one of these days I won't come back to Kansas. :) Also have relatives in Lewiston and Portland.

OM45GE - Posted - 07/30/2012:  04:14:08

I lived in Portland for several years and have roamed around pretty much the whole state. My ex-wife was from Madawaska. Can't get any further north in the lower 48. Fort Kent is further on Route 1 but it's south of Madawaska.
