we did too, I wonder if you can still find tinker toys, I have seen lincoln logs around Christmas, but not all the time
OM45GE - Posted - 03/20/2012: 09:39:09
We bought what were fall intents and purposes, Tinker Toys, but they were called something else. My son didn't really care for them.
dat - Posted - 03/20/2012: 10:27:30
We did too, we spent most of our time outside either doing chores around the house or just playing
OM45GE - Posted - 03/20/2012: 10:36:17
Ethan's pretty good - like I said, he LOVES Lego's and does spend a lot of his free time outside playing. That's not to say he doesn't like the electronics too.
dat - Posted - 03/20/2012: 13:45:08
I still do, I'll crawl of in the middle of the floor with the kids and play with tinker toys/ legos or what ever. it is still fun
dat - Posted - 03/21/2012: 06:30:34
I don't think I've messed with rubber cement much, just on intertube patches on the bicycle
OM45GE - Posted - 03/21/2012: 09:24:28
That's a smell you never forget. Someone just gave my son an unbuilt model plane kit from years ago. I swear I could smell the paints and glues just looking at it.
Mr. Quimby - Posted - 03/21/2012: 13:36:31
I don't know why, but when I was a kid we seemed to use rubber cement a lot in school.
Probably the nuns decided we should buy it instead of elmers.
dat - Posted - 03/21/2012: 13:58:14
they probably had a few cases donated to them, use what is free first
DeanT - Posted - 03/21/2012: 14:09:02
Now a days, the dorky kids would rather huff the glue and paint, than build the models...
dat - Posted - 03/21/2012: 14:25:02
I used to build airplane models every once in a while, bad thing is I would try to fly them at one point or another
DeanT - Posted - 03/21/2012: 14:50:49
I did fly mine... I got into R/C models... for over 30 years...
OM45GE - Posted - 03/21/2012: 15:55:01
I've always wanted to do RC. We've got a nice RC airfield about 10 minutes away. Maybe I'll give it a try.
DeanT - Posted - 03/21/2012: 16:15:40
It’s a blast! Everything seems to be going electric, and the technology is amazing lately. I have an R/C helicopter I fly around the basement... cool as heck!
OM45GE - Posted - 03/22/2012: 03:56:15
We have a small helicopter. It uses a horizontal tail rotor to control forward and backward motion. Reallly cool but no way near as difficult as a "real" helicopter.
There's a real mix of electric and gas over there. Someone said there's a guy with a turbine powered 747. Have you ever heard of such a thing?
DeanT - Posted - 03/22/2012: 08:25:28
I was into smaller stuff... I flew by the creed “don’t fly what you’re not willing to crash"
OM45GE - Posted - 03/22/2012: 09:36:02
If that's the criteria...

I think I can still fold a paper airplane that'll make it across the room
OM45GE - Posted - 03/22/2012: 09:42:16
LOL - me too.
I just Google jet powered RC planes and some of the stuff out there is amazing. Definitely out of my fly what you’re willing to crash category.

I love the R/C crash videos... why is it always fun to see other’s misery?
OM45GE - Posted - 03/23/2012: 04:39:56
And in the "If you have to ask, you probably can't afford it" category...

I don't think I would want to be very close if it did!
Did you see the trailer or van he kept them in?
DeanT - Posted - 03/23/2012: 09:38:47
Yep... my impression of some of that big stuff... is why spend so much on a model... just get a real plane (Or copter)
