Am sorry to hear that.  My prayers and condolences to them.

Babies should be healthy, rather than otherwise.

My sister has a daughter with unending health issues. It's heartbreaking to see a child like that :(

The whole family has been having a rough go. My friend was saying her brother's wife is also pregnant with her second child and has spent a fair bit of her pregnancy in the hospital due to complications with crohns disease. Then about a month ago their maternal grandmother died. The day of the funeral the got news that their paternal grandmother died.

Just lots of stuff all at once.

Would that be Heaven, or Hell?

My ex-boyfriend's wife was induced yesterday. Baby arrived at 10:54pm, 8 pounds even. Patrick Daniel. Both Mom and Dad got to hold him before he was whisked off to ICU. His first surgery will likely be next week.

He shares a birthday with his aunt. And Richard Dreyfuss, apparently.

DeanT - Posted - 10/30/2013:  06:19:38

Richard Dreyfuss has to be getting mighty old by now

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 10/30/2013:  06:44:57

He used to be one of my favorite actors. I don't know that I've seen him in anything for years, though.

dat - Posted - 10/30/2013:  06:58:46

I know he was in a lot of movies, but Jaws is the only one I can think of right off

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 10/30/2013:  07:29:37

I liked him in The Goodbye Girl.

I was a sucker for romantic comedies even when I was a kid. He was also in Close Encounters Of The Third Kind.

dat - Posted - 10/30/2013:  09:00:37

forgot about that one,

I liked  What about Bob

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 10/30/2013:  09:14:00

I was just on Wikipedia looking him up. He's actually not that old. He's 66.

he looked almost that old in the 70's when he was in Jaws

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 10/30/2013:  11:40:52

He has a mature face.

dat - Posted - 10/30/2013:  11:54:01

have you found a house in Colorado yet?    speaking of being mature, you should plan ahead  approve

DeanT - Posted - 10/30/2013:  12:46:35

Go for a small farm in the mountains

dat - Posted - 10/30/2013:  12:55:56

or start your own micro brewery in town

DeanT - Posted - 10/30/2013:  15:43:19

And spinning club

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 10/31/2013:  06:27:28

Apparently Ft. Collins is known for their micro breweries. I'm not sure I could stand the competition.

I haven't heard anything one way or another about the job so I'm just twiddling my thumbs and working lots of over time. (We have a massive project at work right now. It's hard to type when you're twiddling your thumbs. But I'm managing.)

dat - Posted - 10/31/2013:  06:58:07

could be house hunting while you're twiddling

once they taste your brew, they'll be singing George Jones' song  'Cause there's nothing better once you've had the best,    and those other folks will close shop,

Considering I think beer is vile I'm not sure anyone would be impressed with what I make.

My coworker made a face when she smelled my kombucha one day.

dat - Posted - 10/31/2013:  12:12:30

a good beer actually has good flavor,  some beers are to "hoppy" and have a bite I like a dark smooth beer

DeanT - Posted - 10/31/2013:  12:45:36

Heck, just set up a still

dat - Posted - 10/31/2013:  13:00:24

that sounds like a plan, spring water from Colorado may need to be distilled to get good flavor

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 10/31/2013:  13:32:15

I had a recipe for some bread that you make with beer so I bought a six pack of something dark and exotic looking. I tried drinking a bottle. It had flavor. Like if you had a party where lots of people were smoking and putting their cigarette butts into a big ashtray and at the end of the evening you took all the ashes and stuff and put them into a bottle and poured water into it and then let that sit a couple of days.

It had lots of flavor. Not anything I'd ever want to experience again. But lots of flavor.

DeanT - Posted - 10/31/2013:  16:43:58

I've done that too. Once in a lifetime.

dat - Posted - 11/01/2013:  07:11:21

never had a beer that had that flavor, but I did pour a coke into a drink to dilute the jim beam and the coke can had been used for a spit cup, that was a nasty sight

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 11/01/2013:  08:06:51

Ew.

dat - Posted - 11/01/2013:  09:04:56

I believe one person puked,     it wasn't my drink,  I had mixed it for somebody, they said it was to strong, so I reached over to the table and picked up somebodies coke can and poured to dilute it,   it was mostly snuff that poured out.

Ahh, the good ol days  big

dat - Posted - 11/01/2013:  09:26:17

this is kinda like I used to be, only Daniel the guzzling gourmet instead of Steve the guzzling gourmet

I'm all good with the idea of getting a hamburger...

dat - Posted - 11/01/2013:  14:09:26

At least he got the fire out

DeanT - Posted - 11/01/2013:  16:18:11

Is it my imagination, or have all the hamburgers in the universe shrunk. I can do a Big Mac in two bites.

dat - Posted - 11/04/2013:  08:08:01

Not sure about hamburgers, but we were talking about most restaurant foods tasting the same, used to be you ordered a "seafood sampler" as I call it, or seafood platter, everything tasted different, the shrimp tasted like shrimp, the fish tasted like fish and everything had a flavor,   now everything has the same seasoning and batter and that's all you taste.........the seasoning and batter, smaller portions with more batter

DeanT - Posted - 11/04/2013:  10:35:31

The same thing with fast food Mexican... different shapes, same taste...

That reminds me of the song "Copenhagen" by Robert Earl Keen.

dat - Posted - 11/04/2013:  12:03:33

I always liked REK,  I like his live album where he is talking about his buddy calling him while he was riding around in a convertible and watching the mexicans sitting around a spool table with a long orange extension cord running from the house to the portable ac sitting in the yard on the table.    he is a good songwriter

dat - Posted - 11/04/2013:  14:58:18

Heard back from Colorado. They don't want me. I probably scared them off talking about my banjo. And the spinning wheels. And the cats.

dat - Posted - 11/05/2013:  15:20:51

their loss, you'll have something you like better come up and they'll be glad to get you

DeanT - Posted - 11/05/2013:  16:06:51

Too much snow anyways...

dat - Posted - 11/06/2013:  10:24:58

I never did care for snow much

DeanT - Posted - 11/06/2013:  10:37:51

Really... go for Florida or Texas instead!

dat - Posted - 11/06/2013:  11:19:16

A&M has a great vet department,   you can go there and George would be well taken care of

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 11/06/2013:  13:29:36

I interviewed at a school in Louisiana once. Maybe LSU Shreveport? I was a little concerned that George would be too hot.

DeanT - Posted - 11/06/2013:  13:56:38

Georgia smells like paper mills, ewww.

dmiller - Posted - 11/06/2013:  21:15:24

Should you interview for a job here in Duluth Minnesota (UMD - University of Minnesota at Duluth), I bet you'd get hired.  They love "diversity" up here.  I tolerate it (I can live with it), but it isn't my main concern like is with the U up here.  smiley

Oh - - we have snow up here.  Mostly cold weather, but snow too.  Most of the "upper atmosphere" precipitation (water) that comes over our area here on the north shore of Lake Superior) stays liquid until it passes over Lake Superior where it transforms into snow flakes.  The South shore of Lake Superior (Northern Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan gets tons of snow, while we just get the cold.
