We have a couple of rhubarb plants in the garden. I personally can't stand the stuff but my wife likes it.

I was a sugar freak when I was a kid - I still crave sweets
OM45GE - Posted - 01/21/2018: 16:35:52
I have a sweet tooth too for sure, but I don't like things that are almost straight sugar, like cotton candy. The amount of sugar it takes to make rhubarb palatable puts it in that category for me.

We say icing for the chincy little teasing bit of some kind of almost pretend topping on some of the fufu coffeecake crap. Frosting is the real deal the thicker the better sugar bomb toping on the birthday cakes our Moms use to make. And I have no idea what the hell that lightweight almost tasteless whipped crap the grocery stores put on their sorry ass cakes is.

So now that it’s sunk in ,Bill, how are you liking retirement?
OM45GE - Posted - 01/22/2018: 13:25:46
I'm loving it. I've been skiing a bunch of times, playing a ton of guitar, catching up on reading and just enjoying not having any big commitments. I'm getting things done that I need to do but not feeling any pressure. It's great.
Thanks for asking.

LOL
I did sleep in this morning - I didn't roll out of bed until 4:30. Half the day was gone!
OM45GE - Posted - 01/23/2018: 08:09:08
I think the last time I slept until 8:00 AM I had had surgery the day before.
chuckv97 - Posted - 01/23/2018: 08:54:45
I usually wake up at 3 or 4 am, can’t get back to sleep so I stay up for a couple of hours til I get tired again

Do you walk along the roadside where there’s no sidewalks?
Edited by - chuckv97 on 01/23/2018 13:44:05
OM45GE - Posted - 01/23/2018: 18:42:38
Most of the roads around here have sidewalks but some don't. If it's dark (or even getting dark) I wear a vest with lots of Scotch-lite reflector material on it. When traffic is light you can hear cars coming and/or see their lights in time to get over to the side.

We have miles and miles of trails on the AVIS (Andover Village Improvement Society) land in town. They're pretty well maintained and run through all sorts of terrain - riverside, woods, marshland, hills, etc. The land is set aside in trust and can't be developed. I've got a book with maps of all the different areas with maps of the trails.
The most amazing thing is this was all started in the 1850's and 60's to make sure there was open space as the town was developed. Pretty forward thinking.

Could be. Walden Pond is only about 25 miles from here.

We're down in the teens with a 20 + MPH wind. I don't have enough exposed skin when I'm outside to get a burn of anything. Plus it's nighttime here now.
OM45GE - Posted - 01/27/2018: 07:51:48
We're close to 50 degrees today and are supposed to hit it both today and tomorrow. Never fear though, we'll be back down in the teens next week.
I may have to put the top down on the convertible and take a ride just to day I did it.

Somebody sang “House of the Rising Sun”at the bluegrass fstvl jam last night - da noive o’ sum peeple........ no BG Nazis around to quell the insurrection. :-)
chuckv97 - Posted - 01/27/2018: 21:56:12
Actually I like those songs...some BG die-hards don’t. Tonight it went farther afield with CCR and Kacy Chambers. Gadzooks
DeanT - Posted - 01/28/2018: 07:06:07
I like those songs too. I'd rather never play 2 dollar bill again
chuckv97 - Posted - 01/28/2018: 07:29:04
There are definitely some boring overdone songs, with the monotonous 1,4,5 chords ALL the time. But in a jam situation if you play a more complicated tune ,some folks jump in even if they don’t know it and ruin it.

An ee-lek-tra-fyed instrument will never soil my hands......

I had my tele for 20 years before I even thought of a banjo :)
OM45GE - Posted - 01/29/2018: 08:12:09
I started out playing Rock and still have my old Stratocaster. I focused on acoustic for a long time but am working on getting my blues chops back - and really enjoying it.
chuckv97 - Posted - 01/29/2018: 09:02:55
I’m a big fan of acoustic sounds, but Merle Travis once said what’s the difference between playing into a mic or playing with a pickup
