My son and I have been going to the local RC airport. Ethan is really jonesing to try it (me too!). The club gives lessons on Tuesday evenings, which seems like a great way to tryto fly before you buy. I sense a new hobby coming on.

DeanT - Posted - 04/28/2012:  13:57:56

For sale, used banjo, never touch it any more. Call my cell, I’m out flying...

OM45GE - Posted - 04/28/2012:  14:12:23

LOL - How much plane can I get for my Stelling?

DeanT - Posted - 04/28/2012:  15:09:28

LOTS!

OM45GE - Posted - 04/28/2012:  15:31:54

The next question is how much plane am I willing to crash?

DeanT - Posted - 04/28/2012:  20:51:28

That’s what we always said... don’t fly more than you’re willing to loose!

OM45GE - Posted - 04/30/2012:  03:19:28

There was a guy with a helicopter out there. It was pretty big with rotors about 4' across. He did some amazing things with it - inverted flight, hovering inverted about a foot off the ground, etc. At one point he had it nose up in the air and swinging back and forth like a metronome. He was good with a fixed wing too.

Good morning. I survived last week. My brain was useless over the weekend and I was exhausted. Now I need to clean like a maniac because my sister will be here on Wednesday!

Send the whiskey to the heli pilot...

dat - Posted - 04/30/2012:  08:27:32

a buddy of mine was a helicopter driver in the army, he said that he drank more in the army than he ever did any other time in his life. and he got fussed at when he came back to the states about not flying level, he said that he flew nose pointing down so that he could see where the people shooting at them were

OM45GE - Posted - 04/30/2012:  10:26:30

That's funny, I used to know a guy who ran the bar at a local Hungarian restaurant. He had been a helicopter pilot in Viet Nam and he said about the same thing. He got a job flying the traffic reporter around for a local radio station and said he scared the guy with his hot landings and take offs. He finally decided he had beat the odds long enough and quit flying completely.

Wombats!  All really  good movies have wombats! "It's hard to find a good wombat these days."  I think it was Barbara Stanwick who said that.

good to see you back, must have gotten lost in the yard with the weedeater

Hey.

I have a very good friend in the hospital. Things are not looking good. Any prayers would be welcome.

dat - Posted - 05/01/2012:  08:00:00

will do, prayers for a fast and full recovery

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 05/01/2012:  12:12:43

My friend had a pretty big set back this morning but they seem to have stabilized him and he's doing better.

He's got cancer and it's been progressing despite treatment, but he certainly didn't seem to be doing badly last week. He was running a fever and thought he should go to the emergency room to be admitted so he could get super dose antibiotics. He was so nonchalant about it. "I'll be out for a couple of days but should be back by Wednesday." But then Wednesday came and went and then Thursday and Friday.....

He's in ICU. He was in a coma for several hours on Sunday. There's been brain damage and he's having trouble remembering things. His daughters were in to see him late yesterday (they're like 10 and 12) and he was asking them if they were ready for an ice skating competition that was coming up--the competition actually was some time last year. They were very upset after the visit and seeing him so confused.

This is just all so sudden.

flake - Posted - 05/01/2012:  12:19:56

I'm sorry to hear about your friend, 'Nif. I'll be praying for him.

I bought an electric one so I can use the cord to find my way back out.

JEST DON CUT THROUGH THE CORD

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 05/01/2012:  13:24:43

Somehow the whole picture of you using a weedeater that's attached to something that might trip you just is not a good image for me.

I'm just thinking maybe not the best plan here.

dat - Posted - 05/01/2012:  13:59:14

yeah, it's better to have your bride do the mowing and weedeating

DeanT - Posted - 05/01/2012:  14:20:58

I‘ve cut the chord several times with my hedge trimmer. My wife always comments on all the electric tape on the chord now... true story

OM45GE - Posted - 05/02/2012:  03:22:14

Have you ever cut the cord on an orbital sander?

dat - Posted - 05/02/2012:  07:13:12

I haven't cut through, but I've sanded some bare spots on it

DeanT - Posted - 05/02/2012:  07:47:58

I hated my gas weed eater, I’m left handed, and the exhaust and oil always ran down my arm

dat - Posted - 05/02/2012:  07:56:35

I never thought about that, a lot of things can be rough on a southpaw, most semi auto guns you'll get to smell a lot more of the gunpowder when you shoot.   I wouldn't want to run my weedeater left handed either

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 05/02/2012:  08:35:09

I had a weedeater once that I stole from my housemate. She'd put the string on backwards so it didn't work right. Then I didn't have a yard. I finally just donated it to Goodwill.
