Ya, you have to wipe/squeegee your windows or you get smears - at night it's hard to see

I drive a convertible and I don't like the wax on the top either. I hand wax the car when it needs it.

I've had about seven of them. Given where we live, I get a surprising amount of top down driving in. Last year we drove around on Christmas Eve with the top down looking at Holiday lights.

The only convertible I had was the 1960 Sunbeam. It had a ragtop, but also a hardtop roof you could snap on in winter.

We had an Austin Healey Sprite that had an erector set top. You had to assemble the bows and then snap the top to them and lastly hook the clear side curtains on. It could take 15 minutes so if you had a sudden downpour, you were soaked for sure.

my Honda has a sun roof, so that's the best I get. I like it though.
OM45GE - Posted - 01/11/2017: 03:40:20
Sun roofs are great. Easier to close than the Sprites top too!
chuckv97 - Posted - 01/11/2017: 08:10:40
I"d like a sunroof. You get fresh air flow without dead flies ending up in your ear when you have the side window down. I often put some tissue in my left ear.
DeanT - Posted - 01/11/2017: 10:14:48
the sunroof airflow is surprisingly quiet too... not like the side windows where you can't hear the radio....
OM45GE - Posted - 01/11/2017: 15:01:57
My current car is surprisingly quiet with the top down - even at highway speeds. At least for the front seat passenger. If you're in the back, your screwed.

I was in slow traffic in a town a few years ago with the truck. There was an injector problem and every time I accelerated a huge cloud of black smoke came out of the stacks. There was a downdraft and a middle-aged couple in a convertible a few cars back got bombarded.I can still see the woman waving her arms and yelling to her hubby. lol

If a man is walking alone in the woods talking to himself, is he still wrong?
dmiller - Posted - 01/12/2017: 08:42:40
Ask any woman. She'll (most likely) say yes. That's been my past experience.

my first wife had a cat fight with one of my girlfriends when we crossed paths at a gas station...

My second wife ran into my brother and his family at Disney World and accosted them. She wasn't very complimentary about me.

DeanT - Posted - 01/13/2017: 10:42:24

Hey Daniel. Great to hear from you. Glad you're enjoying everything.
Happy New Year!
dmiller - Posted - 01/14/2017: 18:46:24
Good to see you again Daniel (if even briefly). Here's hoping the New Year treats you well!
The sun was shining bright and it got up to 28°F today. I was almost fooled into thinking it was Spring.

When I was learning to drive, my dad would let me take the family car on a frozen lake and drive around. I don't mind snowy or icy roads, except for the other drivers.
DeanT - Posted - 01/15/2017: 15:30:57
it doesn't work so well with today's front wheel drive cars...
OM45GE - Posted - 01/15/2017: 16:19:01
Nope, but my car is rear wheel drive - wheeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!
I didn't stop doing the parking lot fun until a few years ago when my son was born. I got more responsible.
One of my friends use to have a Lincoln Town Car. We use to love thrashing that around on snow covered parking lots.

I bet. My grandmother had one of those. Some salesman convinced her it was a little old lady's car. She bought it brand new. It had a honkin' V8 in it. They had to move the seat mounts forward so she could reach the pedals.

That's funny... I bought mine from a co-worker's Grandma! I did a little work to it...
