Hah, we're all on our best behavior during the chase. Then later go back to our jerk-ish ways.

OM45GE - Posted - 07/03/2014:  09:14:11

That's it, magic cake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DeanT - Posted - 07/03/2014:  12:30:51

It's not magic... it's plastic. As in credit card...

OM45GE - Posted - 07/03/2014:  13:13:10

There's a tradition around here of saving a piece of the wedding cake in the freezer and eating it at the first anniversary. Maybe it's widespread. At any rate, my first wife and I took the top tier of the wedding cake and wrapped it up carefully and stowed it in the freezer. We took it out a year later and found out it was a plastic shell. I guess it was an omen.

DeanT - Posted - 07/03/2014:  15:44:51

I did it on marriage #1 and #3, and both time the cake was fine, and by a year I was already in debt up to my ass on crap I didn't need or even know I had.

OM45GE - Posted - 07/03/2014:  16:01:48

Did any of your exes use your Harley as collateral on cocaine?

DeanT - Posted - 07/03/2014:  18:14:12

Nope, but #3 pawned my Les Paul and spent the money while I was at work. That was the beginning of the end

OM45GE - Posted - 07/04/2014:  06:51:18

Mine also gave ten gold Kruegerands to her brother to buy the white powder. The got confiscated when the cops busted the drug ring. Famous bust, you can read about it in Doctor, Dealer. Never saw the gold again.

DeanT - Posted - 07/04/2014:  07:02:18

I was in the military, if she got caught, I was probably finished. I was totally relieved when she packed up and left. Never saw the Les Paul again either.

In the property settlement for the divorce proceedings she put down that she wanted all of the things she figured I was attached to with values at least twice what they were worth. She must have figured I would fight for them and she would get the cash. When we got to court, my lawyer said we agreed to her proposed property split and asked for half the value of everything. She about had a stroke but there was nothing she could do and the judge ordered it.

DeanT - Posted - 07/04/2014:  12:58:57

We went bankrupt and anything of value got repossessed... it was awesome

OM45GE - Posted - 07/04/2014:  17:47:09

That may have been easier than fighting over everything, but it's a tough road to go down.

DeanT - Posted - 07/04/2014:  19:28:42

I've started over from scratch three times now, it gets easier. I like having less stuff.

Wasn't it George Carlin who did the riff about stuff expanding to fill the available space?

DeanT - Posted - 07/05/2014:  07:30:05

I'm guilty of that... darned running shoes...

OM45GE - Posted - 07/05/2014:  11:10:25

I'm talking dozens.

DeanT - Posted - 07/05/2014:  12:29:30

I've been donating my old running shoes to the overseas donation box at the running store. They ship them to impoverished nations. Pretty cool.

OM45GE - Posted - 07/05/2014:  13:51:27

That's a great idea. We have a shelter that always welcomes shoes and other clothing.

DeanT - Posted - 07/05/2014:  16:30:52

We usually take our old clothes to Goodwill

OM45GE - Posted - 07/06/2014:  13:47:35

All good, certainly better than trashing the if they're still wearable.

chuckv97 - Posted - 07/06/2014:  13:59:10

Hey Dean- which Goodwill?. I might pay a visit.

OM45GE - Posted - 07/06/2014:  14:06:37

What.would you pay for the clothes?

DeanT - Posted - 07/06/2014:  15:11:41

Wichita Ks. I buy as much stuff there as we donate. I haven't bought new clothes in many years.

chuckv97 - Posted - 07/06/2014:  18:27:45

I hear you. I've been donating CD's and books for years, then go back and buy a bunch more stuff. It's kinda fun- sometimes you can find a treasure.

DeanT - Posted - 07/06/2014:  22:57:14

I found a nice big cool-aid pitcher at Goodwill, and it became our band's tip jar. I think I paid 50 cents for it.

OM45GE - Posted - 07/07/2014:  04:23:44

That smiling face must be a great tip jar.

DeanT - Posted - 07/07/2014:  06:02:38

It's seen a lot of money in the last 4 years...

chuckv97 - Posted - 07/07/2014:  06:29:43

Nice play on words too ...- cool, as in music , and aid as in tips .  Or is it kool musik.  Haven't had kool- aid in years. Loved the grape flavour when I was a kid.

Remember the tupperware cool-aid popsickles?

chuckv97 - Posted - 07/07/2014:  17:04:09

My mom didn't want to buy stuff like that, so she filled the ice cube tray with kool aid and stuck a Popsicle stick in them when they were half frozen. " waste not, want not" or "money doesn't grow on trees you know" . lol

I do remember them. They wouldn't make a good tip jar.

DeanT - Posted - 07/07/2014:  18:04:22

I'll bet I had many hundreds cool-aid popsicles as a kid. My mom used to throw tupperware parties and get stuff like that. It was amazing back then, tupperware used to make all the different size containers different colors, so you could find the lids easy.

OM45GE - Posted - 07/08/2014:  03:42:46

We used to weave six popsicle sticks together in a square pattern and throw them. If you got it just right, they would come back like a boomerang. I've also seen a four stick version but we didn't make those.
