At one point there were more retired racing dogs than they could find homes for, the last thing the racing folks wanted was people breeding retired racers.

I chewed a lot of gum after quitting snuff, I don't miss the gum, but would like a bite of copenhagen about now
DeanT - Posted - 08/10/2015: 10:28:28
My dentist always tells me my teeth are the cleanest he's seen from someone my age. He said the gum is what's going it.

I tried snuff years ago when I worked in a mine - no smoking allowed there- but never got the hang of it- too much spitting (PC expectorating). I quit smoking about 15 years ago- chewed the nicotine gum for a few weeks, then regular gum for a year.

I quit smoking cigarettes 1 and 1/2 years ago, after smoking for over 45 years. I was able to do it cold turkey, but there isn't a day goes by that I don't think about lighting up.
DeanT - Posted - 08/10/2015: 15:51:07
If I'm on my death bead, please bring me a carton of smokes and a 5th of whiskey. I quit in 91, still seems like yesterday
chuckv97 - Posted - 08/10/2015: 16:17:00
Me - I don't miss either of'em. Now of course if I'm 99 years old and suffering, yeah, shoot me up with morphine.

I went for the first 5 years or so, and then slowly gravitated away from it. Interestingly, it was when my music addiction started and I got back into marathon running. I won't hesitate to go back if life ever goes south.
chuckv97 - Posted - 08/10/2015: 22:28:57
Yep, I don't go as much anymore since I bought a banjo again last year
dat - Posted - 08/11/2015: 05:59:11
I never did go, but I still drink, not near what I used to, but I'll slip off in a six pack every once in a while, used to be a case
DeanT - Posted - 08/11/2015: 07:03:05
I can't control it... just like I can't control banjo playing and working out! Addiction rechanelling ...

woodworking really helps me, keeps my mind on something other than just drinking a beer
dat - Posted - 08/12/2015: 05:59:30
ok where is the thumbs down mark
I do drink a lot more water than I used to, not much on smoothies, but I don't get a malt or milkshake much either,
ya'll up late enough at night to see any of the meteors? should be a good show tonight if it's clear
dat - Posted - 08/12/2015: 13:55:19

DeanT - Posted - 08/13/2015: 06:20:10

dat - Posted - 08/13/2015: 14:02:53
well, when it comes to mother nature, don't let me try to predict.
but should be a lot tonight
dmiller - Posted - 08/13/2015: 21:22:57
Yesterday was supposed to be the best "viewing".
Blue skies in the morning, but total cloud cover at night.
Due to the clouds - - I didn't stay up to look for meteors.
Today was more of the same. Nice day (clear and sunny)
but no chance for seeing anything at night due to total cloud cover again.
Lake Superior calls the shots around here. Sometimes we win.

we had a pretty good show, I stayed up till about 11 and saw 12, 6 of them were within about 4 or 5 min, the rest kinda scattered out
DeanT - Posted - 08/14/2015: 06:29:14
we still see the major starts, but I'm thinking it's to light in the city for meteors
