I’m surprised they haven’t learned how to use the remote...

OM45GE - Posted - 03/11/2012:  15:16:06

We came home one evening to the TV blaring. We were sure it was off when we left. My son had left the remote on a chair. Toby climbed up into the chair while we were gone an butt clicked the tv on and maxed out the volume. It was on American Pickers when we got home.

DeanT - Posted - 03/11/2012:  15:49:01

The greyhounds would probably put it on the cooking channel

OM45GE - Posted - 03/12/2012:  04:45:22

I used to have a wonderful Golden Retriever, Kelly. He was a great dog. He liked to sit in the driver's seat of the car, lean back and put his paws on the steering wheel. I'd parked in front of the local grocery store one day. When I came out he was sitting behind the wheel. I backed the car up and started to pull out when I realized I'd forgotten something. I pulled into a different spot and ran back into the store. When I came out there was a family standing around my car debating how the dog had moved it. They were pretty freaked out until I explained what had happened.

The local paper ran a picture of him sitting behind the wheel another time. I still have that one.

DeanT - Posted - 03/12/2012:  07:58:44

I bet Kelly went crazy at the sound of the car keys

OM45GE - Posted - 03/12/2012:  09:46:24

He sure did. You couldn't pick them up quietly enough. Toby's the same way with the sound of a leash.

dat - Posted - 03/12/2012:  10:33:13

I believe the dogs know even before you pick up the keys

DeanT - Posted - 03/12/2012:  10:37:55

Dogs have esp, there’s no doubt in my mind!

dat - Posted - 03/12/2012:  12:30:53

and they know when there is left over bacon too

OM45GE - Posted - 03/12/2012:  16:03:51

They do seem one step ahead of us don't they?

DeanT - Posted - 03/12/2012:  17:56:23

They just let us think we are the boss

OM45GE - Posted - 03/13/2012:  04:10:07

Do you think they know what they're up to?

dat - Posted - 03/13/2012:  05:36:51

they know, they plan it out like a chess game, we are just pawns in the dogs life

DeanT - Posted - 03/13/2012:  08:19:40

Slaves is more like it. It’s not like we can give them the check book and tell them to go get some food :)

dat - Posted - 03/13/2012:  09:52:26

I heard about a test, lock you dog up and your bride up in the trunk of a car for an hour, when you open the trunk see which one is glad to see you

DeanT - Posted - 03/13/2012:  13:09:54

Yeah... and the dog won’t ask for a divorce after that either

dat - Posted - 03/13/2012:  13:26:24

I don't believe my bride would ask for a divorce either, she would just get one without saying anything 'till I got the papers

OM45GE - Posted - 03/13/2012:  15:55:15

Mine would have figured out a way to back the car over me and collect double indemnity on my insurance policy.

DeanT - Posted - 03/13/2012:  18:21:05

Oh just great, our foster greyhound just went into heat...

OM45GE - Posted - 03/14/2012:  04:05:44

More greyhounds on the way?

dat - Posted - 03/14/2012:  05:37:32

PUPPIES!!     *&%##@   they are fun at first

OM45GE - Posted - 03/14/2012:  05:55:32

Ah yes. Here's Toby the Springer when he was little and could still fit in my Stelling case.:

dat - Posted - 03/14/2012:  07:41:13

I'll bet that didn't last long 'till he outgrew, good looking dog there

DeanT - Posted - 03/14/2012:  07:58:35

Nope no puppies! Just a little hussy we have to keep an eye on. She was scheduled to be vetted and go to her new home this weekend... but that’s delayed three weeks now.

dat - Posted - 03/14/2012:  08:37:14

Maby after that three weeks the new owners will be blessed with an expecting mother

OM45GE - Posted - 03/14/2012:  15:57:28

Thanks. He has gotten bigger.

DeanT - Posted - 03/14/2012:  16:25:07

I think Toby grew out of this first bed! :)

If our foster became “with pups” we would be in big fat trouble... but it would be interesting... it would also have to be a neighborhood stray... hmmmm, what would mix good with a greyhound?

OM45GE - Posted - 03/15/2012:  04:14:28

How about a Chihuahua?

dat - Posted - 03/15/2012:  07:21:50

looks like he knows who the boss is

DeanT - Posted - 03/15/2012:  08:23:47

I’d like to see a Taco Tico dog try it with a Greyhound....

I was eating lunch on the 20th of February with my 7-year-old granddaughter and

I asked her, "What day is tomorrow?"

She said "It's President's Day!"

She is a smart kid. So, I asked "What does President's Day mean?"

I was waiting for something about Washington or Lincoln etc.

She replied, "President's Day is when President Obama steps out of the

White House, and if he sees his shadow we have one more year of

unemployment."

You know, it hurts when hot coffee spurts out your nose...

His water dog is cool though

dat - Posted - 03/15/2012:  13:12:43

Water dogs are, can't fault them because of their owner

OM45GE - Posted - 03/15/2012:  16:35:25

Good point.

DeanT - Posted - 03/15/2012:  19:25:06

I wonder if he swims in the White House pool

OM45GE - Posted - 03/16/2012:  04:48:50

I bet he does. Our next door neighbor has a Golden Retriever and a nice in-ground pool. The neighborhood dogs are welcome anytime. It's great fun to watch them in the water. I was worried about the chlorine but they've got some sort of salt water system that doesn't seem to bother them at all.

DeanT - Posted - 03/16/2012:  08:14:17

I wonder how fast a greyhound can swim?

dat - Posted - 03/16/2012:  09:41:41

They probably just lay back and sip a cool drink instead of swim

DeanT - Posted - 03/16/2012:  11:50:24

And enjoy a milkbone or two

dat - Posted - 03/16/2012:  12:25:36

do they get a chance to get out and run?

DeanT - Posted - 03/16/2012:  15:24:32

Yep, we go to a ball field down the street. A couple 45 mph laps... and they are trashed for the rest of the day...

dat - Posted - 03/16/2012:  15:27:56

then back to the sofa huh?

DeanT - Posted - 03/16/2012:  16:00:55

yep

My parents just got a chocolate lab. He's older, like 8. I don't know if they've found out if he's crazy about water or not yet. The lab we had when I was a teenager went nuts for water.

OM45GE - Posted - 03/19/2012:  05:45:09

I like Labs. I used to do retriever field trials.

dat - Posted - 03/19/2012:  06:06:37

we went to one of those a while back, one part they threw a dummy onto an island in the middle of a pond, well anyway, there was a tree on the island and one dummy landed in the tree. the dog swam out and got to looking around the small inland and looked back to the owner. Eldon, the owner hollered out  "Get the kitty" then the dog looked up in the tree and jerked the dummy out of the branches

DeanT - Posted - 03/19/2012:  08:42:51

We would say “here comes ozzy” and the the greyhounds would run in circles around the island...

OM45GE - Posted - 03/19/2012:  09:14:51

"Get the kitty" - that's great.
