I did but nobody said anything...they knew I was out to break the mold.

My first in-laws didn't like me for a lot of reasons, religion was just one of them.
dmiller - Posted - 05/31/2017: 04:31:06
Dad was Catholic/ Mom was Presbyterian and for them to get the "blessing" of the RCC to get married (1950) - -
she had to promise to bring any and all kids up Catholic.

I joke that I belong to one of the most popular religions in the US. Everywhere you go you see signs for us saying "Caution, Pedestrians Crossing".

I actually liked my inlaws (#3), and they were hoping I would get their daughter to shape up... didn't work... My MIL actually called me and begged me to take her daughter back. Oh hell no.
OM45GE - Posted - 05/31/2017: 11:13:12
Hell no indeed. Maybe they could pay you the going rate for a therapist.
DeanT - Posted - 05/31/2017: 12:51:34
According to my ex BIL, she went through over 25 guys, before finding someone else to marry.

One of the over the road truck drivers at a company I managed got hurt and had to stay home. His relationship with his wife went downhill fast. They had argued one day and he went outside for a smoke. He heard a bang from inside the house and went in to find his wife had shot herself.
At the funeral, his wife's sister (who he hadn't met before) said how lucky he was considering what happened to her sister's first husband. Turns out she had shot and killed him and served time in prison for murder. My driver had no idea.

My 2nd ex was a druggy-alchy, and it finally caught up to her when she OD'ed. The bad part was the my 14 year old daughter found her, dead on the couch.
chuckv97 - Posted - 06/01/2017: 12:36:42
I've known a few people over the years who have died from drug and/or booze related issues. I was getting close in the late '80's before I decided to change up the deck.
DeanT - Posted - 06/01/2017: 14:37:18
That's was what made her leave me... I quit partying and sobered up, and she told me I wasn't fun anymore.
DeanT - Posted - 06/01/2017: 19:03:23
#3 might be going down the same road... I met her in AA, she was sober for 8 1/2 years... then fell off the wagon, left me, and fell off the face of the earth. I sure picked some doozies...
OM45GE - Posted - 06/02/2017: 03:43:23
As have I. I'm starting to think it's me that drives them crazy.
chuckv97 - Posted - 06/02/2017: 11:12:24
"I've Got a Beaver on my Lap and a Bear on my Tail" , C&W trucker song
OM45GE - Posted - 06/03/2017: 03:45:54
I hear you. I remember not thinking about much of anything else.
DeanT - Posted - 06/03/2017: 09:28:25
Believe it or not, that's one of the biggest relief of growing old.
DeanT - Posted - 06/03/2017: 15:49:47
I see hot young things, and all I can think of is $$$,$$$ and high maintenance.
chuckv97 - Posted - 06/03/2017: 18:33:22
The old ones,,my age,, aren't as appealing,,and the young ones I don't have a chance with

I know. I walk through the high school parking lot and see a lot of cars I couldn't buy.
chuckv97 - Posted - 06/05/2017: 04:35:28
I bought my own little 90 cc Honda Sport motorbike in high school
OM45GE - Posted - 06/05/2017: 04:44:24
I had a BSA Spitfire in high school, but I got my motorcycle license on a Honda Trail 90. They both had two wheels and were red but the similarity ended there.
chuckv97 - Posted - 06/05/2017: 08:49:39
Mine was like this, except it was dark blue

I didn't get a car until after I left high school. I traded the BSA for a VW bug.
chuckv97 - Posted - 06/05/2017: 19:52:28
First I had a worn out Sunbeam Alpine,, then I bought a Bug
OM45GE - Posted - 06/06/2017: 03:32:20
I had a Chevy II wagon that someone gave me before the bug but I never got it in the road. You could have used your feet for brakes like the Flintstones.
OM45GE - Posted - 06/07/2017: 07:19:15
Have you seen a similar size Dodge recently? They're even bigger than I remembered.
DeanT - Posted - 06/07/2017: 12:57:16
YES!!! Just today I saw a Plymouth Fury... HOLY SMOKES that thing was HUUUUUUGE!!!!
OM45GE - Posted - 06/07/2017: 14:43:46
I just saw a later model Barracuda today. I remember thinking that was a sporty size car back in the day. This was a boat - a fast boat, but a boat.
DeanT - Posted - 06/07/2017: 14:57:07
Like the old Dodge Chargers... they were huge. I had a Buick GS, it was pretty big too
OM45GE - Posted - 06/08/2017: 18:05:17
I dated a girl who had a Buick GS with some ungodly big block V8 in it. She could get the front wheels off the ground popping the clutch.
chuckv97 - Posted - 06/08/2017: 18:13:54
We had a '69 Skylark with a 350 for a short while til my ex slid on ice into a concrete bridge abutment. Never did like the bubbled out rear quarter panels.
