I have problems with authority figures - I guess that's why I'm not married....

dat - Posted - 07/21/2016:  10:56:43

I have been lucky about that, my bride does her thing, I do mine, neither one stops the other from doing what we want, 90% of the time we end up doing the same stuff.

OM45GE - Posted - 07/21/2016:  12:02:57

I've always been a rebel without a clue. I hate getting told what to do and made a lot of stupid decisions out of contrariness.

dat - Posted - 07/21/2016:  13:02:25

I did that even with quidance and a second opinion.   lots of stupid things I'm glad I lived through

DeanT - Posted - 07/21/2016:  13:06:53

I was career military, I spent a few year getting told what to do, then the rest of my career telling others what to do.

dat - Posted - 07/21/2016:  13:46:11

I really don't mind being told what to do ,   I don't mind telling someone else what to do either, but I'm not a good teacher, I don't want to hold someones hand while they are doing what I told them, and going back and double checking to make sure they did it is just about as bad.   I would just as soon do it my self as to tell someone else and it not be done or not done right.      I guess I don't play well with others

chuckv97 - Posted - 07/21/2016:  17:07:12

I don't like telling other people what to do, but don't mind giving advice if asked.

DeanT - Posted - 07/21/2016:  18:13:45

My wife tells me what to do, and I do whatever she says.

OM45GE - Posted - 07/22/2016:  03:46:05

My wife telling me to do something is an excellent way to make sure I don't do it. 😎

DeanT - Posted - 07/22/2016:  05:07:12

I have to if I want to eat...

dat - Posted - 07/22/2016:  05:45:08

I learned to cook before I got married, that way I can always eat, even if she doesn't want to cook

chuckv97 - Posted - 07/22/2016:  06:09:09

I know how to boil water....

OM45GE - Posted - 07/22/2016:  07:11:19

I lived alone long enough that I can take care of myself. I do most of the cooking, all of the laundry and home maintenance. The wife unit does the shopping but I'm happy to do that too if I had to.

dat - Posted - 07/22/2016:  08:53:15

I do a lot of shopping, just 'cause I drive by a grocery store on the way home from work and my bride doesn't.  it's easier for me and she doesn't have to drive back to town or out of the way that far.   saves on gas and time, so it saves money

DeanT - Posted - 07/22/2016:  11:33:08

I don't cook, but I do do all the laundry. She shops. I do all the dishes. She cleans the house, I keep up the yard. I feed the dogs, she feeds the cat. But I have to clean the cat box... How did I agree to that?

OM45GE - Posted - 07/22/2016:  17:04:24

Picking up dog poop doesn't bother me but a cat litter box makes me gag.

chuckv97 - Posted - 07/22/2016:  19:46:46

I don't like either, but I never minded the smell of horsesh*t

OM45GE - Posted - 07/22/2016:  20:23:42

In my admittedly limited experience in matters scatalogical, herbivore poop doesn't smell as bad as carnivore poop.

chuckv97 - Posted - 07/22/2016:  20:39:42

My scatalogical history is also rather spotty....

dmiller - Posted - 07/22/2016:  21:20:10

I don't mean to gross you all out or anything - - but 3 of our clients at the group home are on psychotropic meds  for the various conditions they are going through.  One of the side effects of the psychotropic meds is - -  they clog you up big time, and you don't "poop" very often.  Once in every 4 or 5 days is common.  Needless to say when you finally do have to go to the bathroom - - the "poop" is huge (usually almost as large as a pint sized water glass), and it can't be flushed down the toilet.  We use the cat poop scooper (for the cat litter box) to reach down and scoop the human waste out of the toilet - into a waste basket, and immediately out to the trash bin outside the house.  The cat box there at the house (needless to say) doesn't bother me one bit!

DeanT - Posted - 07/23/2016:  06:21:21

anyone else notice that flys stay away from cat poop?

OM45GE - Posted - 07/23/2016:  13:32:00

I hadn't noticed that, but then, I don't have cats.

DeanT - Posted - 07/23/2016:  18:56:57

I put the dog poo in a big trash can in the back yard. The flies are everywhere. When I take the cat poo from the cat box outside, and put it in the dog poo can... all the flies disappear. For real!

OM45GE - Posted - 07/24/2016:  12:51:44

Maybe I need a cat after all. I have a steel trash can with a tight fitting lid. I line it with a plastic bag and then put the dog poop, (in the bags I pick it up with) in the can. Now flies and no odor except when I open it.

DeanT - Posted - 07/24/2016:  13:21:46

we do the plastic liner too, in a metal can with tight lid. Still get the flies hanging around.... until I add the cat poo and they scram...

chuckv97 - Posted - 07/24/2016:  20:25:55

I like watching a cat try catch a fly that's buzzing against a window

OM45GE - Posted - 07/25/2016:  02:38:08

Whatever floats your boat.

DeanT - Posted - 07/25/2016:  04:41:59

Until the fly flies into a lampshade...

OM45GE - Posted - 07/25/2016:  06:47:10

or lands somewhere on you.

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 07/25/2016:  10:34:02

What's the name of that guy who fell asleep for like 50 years and when he woke up he had a big huge beard and was covered in leaves and all his friends had gotten old and stuff?

I feel a little like him.

I bet he had a fly problem.

dmiller - Posted - 07/25/2016:  11:46:21

Rip Van Winkle??

chuckv97 - Posted - 07/25/2016:  11:56:11

He was an early Nu Yawkeh who liked bowling up in the Kaatskills

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 07/25/2016:  13:39:52

Yeah, I was kind of stuck on him, too, but I know he's the spinning dude (spinsters like me get excited when we hear about guys who spin), and that's a different story.

I've already promised my firstborn to someone else, though, so Rumplestilskin is out of luck where I'm concerned.

dat - Posted - 07/25/2016:  14:03:48

are you still doing a lot of spinning?

dmiller - Posted - 07/25/2016:  14:21:34

Back when I was still married (30 or so years ago), my wife had two spinning wheels,

and three looms set up in the house.  All my instruments had to be stored in the basement.

OM45GE - Posted - 07/25/2016:  14:45:08

I like watching the spinners at our county fair.

DeanT - Posted - 07/25/2016:  16:36:30

My brother and his wife are both spinners.

chuckv97 - Posted - 07/25/2016:  19:14:24

The Spinney Brothers are a good bluegrass band from Scova Notia

dmiller - Posted - 07/25/2016:  21:28:37

Terry Poirier Is one hell-uva bass picker and singer.

Alan and Rick are lucky to have him in the band.  approve

Good stuff.

DeanT - Posted - 07/26/2016:  04:42:14

Hey that's good, I haden't heard of them

dat - Posted - 07/26/2016:  06:00:34

I hadn't heard of them either, purty good stuff there

chuckv97 - Posted - 07/26/2016:  06:22:19

One of the first banjo albums I had was by Terry's Dad, Eddie Poirier. I'll be seeing them at Blueberry Bluegrass Fest. this weekend in Stony Plain, AB, along with The Earls of Leicester, Chris Jones, Bluegrass Etc., and others.

Not as much as I'd like.  I had some foot problems a couple years ago and had to cut way back and I haven't gotten back to it as much as I'd like.

I need to start getting in condition, though.  Last year I spun just shy of 7,000 yards for Spinzilla.  I'd like to break 7,000 this year.  Spinzilla is in October, so it's coming up fast!

DeanT - Posted - 07/26/2016:  10:34:50

That's almost 4 miles!

dat - Posted - 07/26/2016:  10:44:38

and many hours,  do you have a radio or anything going when you spin, or is it just good quality quiet time spinning.

asking that,   I reload with a single stage press, I can sit for hours reloading with nothing but the sound of the press lever moving, kind of like wind down time.

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 07/26/2016:  10:50:26

I usually watch movies.

Although there was a period of about a month where I listened to the same song on repeat on my CD player.  I don't know why.  It just spoke to me somehow.
