We had a 75' tree come down on the neighbor's house about an hour ago. I just got in from cutting the branches off their house. Thankfully there's no major damage and no one was hurt.
Alaina - Posted - 10/29/2012: 15:34:05
During the last hurricane we were in, mom parked her car outside in hopes that a tree would land on it so that she could get a new one haha
OM45GE - Posted - 10/30/2012: 03:51:04
All are safe here and the storm is pulling away. Still nasty to the west though.
OM45GE - Posted - 10/30/2012: 06:10:36
Mother Nature has her ways of letting you know who is boss doesn't she?
Mr. Quimby - Posted - 10/30/2012: 14:38:43
My stupid internet has been spotty lately. During a hurricane, when you really want to know what's going on, etc., is not the time to have problems with your internet. AND my cell phone battery isn't keeping a charge very well.
I got a little water in the basement and the lights flickered a bit but other than that it wasn't too bad. Got lots of spinning done. Sounds like I'll be back at work tomorrow.

Glad you made it safely ![]()

whew! Glads that over. Looks like quite a mess to clean up now in some places
Alaina - Posted - 10/30/2012: 14:46:29
Not only a mess, but look at what is going on in W. Virginia! It's like The Day After Tomorrow is becoming a reality
dat - Posted - 10/30/2012: 15:03:35
quality spinning time, hard to go outside when it's cold and wet anyway. did you get any roof sitting time in to watch it blow in?
Mr. Quimby - Posted - 10/30/2012: 17:10:05
No roof sitting. Wouldn't want to risk dropping a spinning wheel and if I'm gonna be sitting I might as well be spinning!

Some of the blizzards are crazy... trees breaking from ice... yikes
Mr. Quimby - Posted - 10/30/2012: 18:36:47
Some of the ice storms around here are wicked. I remember my first year at Gallaudet they told me I needed to get a tetanus shot before I could register for shots my second term so I pulled myself up the hill (the health services place was located on the hill halfway between the university and the residential high school) because if I just tried to walk I'd slide on the ice all the way back down. Then I got to the health center and they told me I didn't need a shot until August.
And all the students were ice skating on the track.
DeanT - Posted - 10/30/2012: 19:10:48
Down here in Kansas we would love just a little bit of that ice and snow, but not enough to break trees. We never get a long enough freeze to skate anywhere
dat - Posted - 10/31/2012: 05:50:22
we'll get a day or two scattered out through the winter that we'll get a little ice, usually a little slush on the roads once or twice a year that'll last a day then the sun comes back out
DeanT - Posted - 10/31/2012: 08:37:46
It's in the 70's here... it was 80's last week. One day last week hit 93.
DeanT - Posted - 10/31/2012: 12:46:20
Little rug rats.... If I can scare them away... I get all the candy bars....
Alaina - Posted - 10/31/2012: 12:49:27
I knew someone who would dress like a scarecrow and sit out front with a bowl of candy on his lap. He scared the living daylights out of so many little kids! One even wet his pants
dat - Posted - 10/31/2012: 13:05:19
we live far enough out that people don't accidently come by the house unless they have been lost for a while. normally we don't have any of those tricycle motors come by anymore
RB00 - Posted - 10/31/2012: 18:00:49
I heard a little kid at the street tell his dad that he didn't want to come up to my door because his sister told him a dead guy lives here!
DeanT - Posted - 10/31/2012: 19:31:39
I played my banjo on the front porch tonight... didn't work... but I did manage to hide some candy bars for me... :)
Mr. Quimby - Posted - 10/31/2012: 19:54:04
My buddy DP gave out candy from the back of his van one year.
Mr. Quimby - Posted - 10/31/2012: 19:54:35
I did trick or treating in reverse. I went to see George and gave him treats while I was there.
OM45GE - Posted - 11/01/2012: 03:58:56
We got about 100 kids last night. My son went out as an ATM machine. He made the costume himself out of a box one of my guitars was shipped in.
I can't eat candy anymore so I didn't have to worry about keeping any aside.

I heard something like that, but I can't remember exactly what it was
Mr. Quimby - Posted - 11/01/2012: 09:21:58
I'm not sure I remembered things even when I was younger.
OM45GE - Posted - 11/01/2012: 09:49:46
Someone told me your memory is the SECOND thing to go as you get older. I can't remember what they said the first was.
