We're vacationing on Cape Cod. There's a wonderful ice cream shop called The Sundae School about 1/4 mile from us Yummy
OM45GE - Posted - 08/03/2017: 04:53:23
They have one called "Shark Bite". It's red raspberry ice cream with white chocolate bits.
OM45GE - Posted - 08/04/2017: 04:21:41
I thought of the white chocolate as the shark teeth but bone bits are good too. I went for a chocolate shake. ![]()

Here in New England they call shakes "frappes". There's an ice cream shop near me that has malted frappes.
DeanT - Posted - 08/04/2017: 10:23:46
When McDonalds first opened in the 60's, they were chocolate malts!
chuckv97 - Posted - 08/04/2017: 10:57:18
I remember 15 cent hamburgers, but not the malted shakes so I looked it up.....

I can still taste it like it was yesterday, and it was a lot better
OM45GE - Posted - 08/06/2017: 04:39:50
The prices were pretty good too. Looks like you could pig out and still get change from a dollar.

One of our local McD's has a party room where folks host parties.
chuckv97 - Posted - 08/07/2017: 09:04:27
I hear their closing a lot of their stores. I think they built too many too close together.
DeanT - Posted - 08/07/2017: 10:20:48
The first one ever in Kansas is about a mile from my house. I haven't been there in years

I still remember - - "Two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun". Some things from the past just get "burned" into your brain. That saying is one of them!
DeanT - Posted - 08/07/2017: 14:20:33
Hold the pickles, hold the lettuce, special orders don't upset us....
OM45GE - Posted - 08/07/2017: 16:16:36
The bigger the burger the better the burger, the burgers are bigger at Burger King.
OM45GE - Posted - 08/07/2017: 18:23:39
We had a local chain called "Burger Chef". They were actually pretty good.
OM45GE - Posted - 08/08/2017: 03:08:27
The one near us was owned by a family from Greece. They would rotate in for a couple of years and save enough money to retire back in Greece and then another group would replace them.

That came out, right about the time McDonalds was really starting to suck. One of the reasons I never go there... their burgers are too damn small. I could eat 3 Big Macs, and it wouldn't dent my hunger...
OM45GE - Posted - 08/09/2017: 03:14:36
The best I can say about McDonalds is that they're consistent.
chuckv97 - Posted - 08/09/2017: 08:01:19
If they leave their coffee sitting too long it's bitter. Fresh is ok.
DeanT - Posted - 08/09/2017: 15:14:51
There's an authentic Mexican dive, about a half mile from our hose. We go once a week, and order one buretto and split it, and still walk out of there stuffed... for half of what it costs to go to McDonalds
chuckv97 - Posted - 08/09/2017: 15:19:09
Those authentic burritos off the Mexican roach wagons are good ,and cheap too. Heavy as lead.
DeanT - Posted - 08/09/2017: 16:52:58
Along with all-you-can-eat chips, the Mexican place is the best value in town
OM45GE - Posted - 08/10/2017: 02:59:30
I almost always get whatever the chefs special of the day is. So good!

My son is fairly fluent in Spanish. He likes to translate the songs. Some of the staff know he speaks Spanish and only talk to him in it.
OM45GE - Posted - 08/10/2017: 12:49:29
He's got the same gift for languages that he does for music. He's taken six years of Spanish starting in elementary school and it's come to him. Several of his friends are Hispanic so he gets to use it with them and their families. He's also taught himself basic conversational skills in Russian, Mandarin and Japanese.
DeanT - Posted - 08/10/2017: 14:54:35
The only stuff I know from other languages, is menue items at ethnic resturaunts... we group up with Dutch speaking parents, but never picked it up
OM45GE - Posted - 08/10/2017: 18:37:59
I used to be able to carry on a basic conversation in French and order dinner at a restaurant or buy a beer. Now I've lost most of it from not using it enough.
