Dogs and skunks are always a bad idea...

OM45GE - Posted - 01/20/2014:  19:26:40

I miss the dog. I had to go to NJ on a business trip. Now their saying snows on the way and I may not be able to get out for a day or so.

DeanT - Posted - 01/20/2014:  23:26:48

I like dogs better than people in general

OM45GE - Posted - 01/21/2014:  02:07:54

I know.

dat - Posted - 01/21/2014:  06:31:55

me too,    lock up your dog and your wife in the trunk of a car for an hour, then see which is glad to see you when you open it up.

our neighbors dog from down the road,   which has adopted us,  came up yesterday afternoon all happy that he found a fresh cow patty.

DeanT - Posted - 01/21/2014:  10:32:51

I would have done so if I could. However, my x-wife caused a bankruptcy, and the car got repo'ed...

OM45GE - Posted - 01/21/2014:  14:14:01

Was she still in the trunk?

dat - Posted - 01/21/2014:  14:16:23

Could be that's why they got the divorce

OM45GE - Posted - 01/21/2014:  14:20:56

She wouldn't have been very happy about it.

DeanT - Posted - 01/21/2014:  14:32:36

I could have thrown a credit card in the trunk, to get her to dive in there

OM45GE - Posted - 01/21/2014:  14:44:40

LOL.

I'm still stuck in NJ. We've got about 8" of snow on the ground. It tool an hour to go six miles to get to a hotel. The hotel is a fleabag and the restaurant is closed. We're going to try to head home in the morning. 250 miles never seemed so long.

DeanT - Posted - 01/21/2014:  18:04:26

Move to Kansas where it never snows

OM45GE - Posted - 01/22/2014:  02:03:10

Would you introduce me to Dorothy and Toto?

DeanT - Posted - 01/22/2014:  05:53:43

They went over the rainbow a long time ago!

dat - Posted - 01/22/2014:  08:44:41

looking for the pot at the end?

Outhouse at the end of a rainbow

DeanT - Posted - 01/22/2014:  11:07:46

Porta-gold

OM45GE - Posted - 01/22/2014:  13:26:19

That's a good one.

Finally made it home. We only had about an inch of snow on the ground.

dat - Posted - 01/22/2014:  13:45:59

whew, been a long trip fer ya.   hopefully the next goes a little smoother

OM45GE - Posted - 01/22/2014:  14:59:14

Thanks. I used to travel for business all the time and it never bothered me. I'm getting so that I don't like it at all anymore. I still like to travel for fun but for work, not so much.

DeanT - Posted - 01/23/2014:  05:59:51

If it's going to be -7 wind chill, at least we should get some snow with it

dat - Posted - 01/23/2014:  06:35:12

getting to where I don't like people, I deal with the "pub lick"    (I think of Ron White)    and I don't have the patience that I used to have or need to still have anymore.

I like to travel, but not as much for work

I agree Dean. It's winter here in New England - there should be snow. We've got about 4" on the ground - all that remains of about 4 feet that's fallen so far this winter.

dat - Posted - 01/23/2014:  15:18:13

we have sleet here now, sounds good on the metal roof of the shop, but it's cold

OM45GE - Posted - 01/23/2014:  16:00:41

We're having a heat wave - it's up to 17 degrees out.

DeanT - Posted - 01/23/2014:  18:24:49

14 degrees here...at least the wind settled down. I don't travel at all anymore. Gotta tend to the dogs...

OM45GE - Posted - 01/24/2014:  02:16:02

It's 6 on the back porch this morning. Took Toby for a long walk. He loves the snow.

DeanT - Posted - 01/24/2014:  06:03:21

It's 9 here, but -6 with the wind. My dogs run outside, pee, and then can't get back in fast enough.

OM45GE - Posted - 01/24/2014:  06:18:19

Toby gets pissed when I head back in.

dat - Posted - 01/24/2014:  06:22:23

WE GOT SNOW!!!

here in East Texas, snow,  about 4 or 5 inches overnight....................I'm ready for spring

OM45GE - Posted - 01/24/2014:  06:44:17

Do you want to borrow my snow blower?

dat - Posted - 01/24/2014:  09:23:45

I might be able to manage, as long as it doesn't snow more,   I'l have to sweep off my firewood stack though

OM45GE - Posted - 01/24/2014:  12:03:58

OK. Let me know if you change your mind and I'll walk it over.

dat - Posted - 01/24/2014:  12:25:36

most has melted away.    I got some more hay for our neighbors dog to sleep on,    I thought about giving him a bath and letting him by the fire

DeanT - Posted - 01/24/2014:  12:47:16

Snow blowers are rare in Kansas

OM45GE - Posted - 01/24/2014:  13:49:36

Combines are rare in New England

DeanT - Posted - 01/24/2014:  14:58:15

we have combines everywhere and no snowmobiles

dat - Posted - 01/24/2014:  15:24:09

we have a few combines, but more just regular ol tractors

OM45GE - Posted - 01/24/2014:  17:40:07

We've got lots of tractors. Most of our agriculture is dairy farms and smaller produce farms. Plus a lot of orchards and berry farms.

DeanT - Posted - 01/24/2014:  18:47:11

We have miles and miles and miles and field after field after field of these things

OM45GE - Posted - 01/25/2014:  11:24:06

When we drove out to Bonneville the year before last we drove by fields that were irrigated and had tall green corn. Ones right next to them were brown little stubs.

They make pretty interesting patterns when you fly over them a few miles up.

DeanT - Posted - 01/25/2014:  16:03:09

Yep, according to Jason Aldean, Kansas is just a fly-over state anyways...

OM45GE - Posted - 01/27/2014:  02:26:08

I've flown over more times that I can remember but still prefer to drive through and actually see things. It's an amazing country we live in and you just can't get a sense for how magnificent it is from 35,000 feet.

DeanT - Posted - 01/27/2014:  05:44:47

It's not nearly as populated from the sky

OM45GE - Posted - 01/27/2014:  05:50:18

I read recently that if the world's entire population lived in a single city as densely populated as New York City, we could all live in Texas.

dat - Posted - 01/27/2014:  06:39:36

it feels like most everybody has moved here, it's getting thick with folks

OM45GE - Posted - 01/27/2014:  07:04:23

When we drove out to Utah/Nevada last August I was amazed how much development has taken place in just a couple of years.

dat - Posted - 01/27/2014:  10:16:19

the fields we used to goose hunt in are covered with subdivisions now, houses so close together you can't walk outside and pee without having to wave to your neighbor

DeanT - Posted - 01/27/2014:  11:13:26

If the whole world moved to texas, I wonder if the weight difference would make the earth wobble more

OM45GE - Posted - 01/27/2014:  11:22:03

It would certainly make going outside for a pee more difficult.

dat - Posted - 01/27/2014:  14:07:33

not more difficult,   you just have to wave more often to folks, after a while they'll look the other way
