I like to order something different, you know it's fresh when they have to cook it
dat - Posted - 12/12/2013: 10:58:47
now you're talkin old times, or was it early times, whew, early times was cheap when we couldn't afford Jim Beam
DeanT - Posted - 12/12/2013: 18:41:57
I could always afford Jim Beam and Pizza... rent would just have to wait.

Personally, it's got to be a 175mm crank, or it just aint Christmas, and it won't be a happy New Year...
dat - Posted - 12/17/2013: 06:33:53
I'm probably gonna slip off and buy a bottle of Christmas spirits this year, a bottle of Makers Mark does OK, and lasts a lot longer than it used to, a half gallon jug used to didn't last a weekend, now a smaller bottle will last a year
DeanT - Posted - 12/17/2013: 10:32:13
Since I'm a teetotaler now, I'm going to have to be happy with a mug of hot chocolate.... and that lasts about 10 minutes...
dat - Posted - 12/17/2013: 11:40:34
I tried being a teetotaler, but didn't work, I'll drink a beer or two, but three is my limit, any more than that I want to drink a 30 pack. a glass or two of wiz and coke, but more than that and I'll drink the whole bottle.

I was at Sam's club a while back, getting gas for my truck, and a case of Sam Adam's Boston Lager for me. Got to talking with the clerk there (he's from North Carolina) about whiskey. I pointed to their selection of Maker's Mark there by the cash register and mentioned how I used to "like it too much", so I don't drink it anymore. He said: "If you like Maker's Mark, you'll LOVE Woodford Reserve"!.
He set the hook, and I bit. In the "interest of science", I had to experiment. The Maker's Mark is 21 bucks per bottle, and the Woodford Reserve is 32 bucks per bottle. I haven't had whiskey in some time, but one glass of that WR made a believer out of me. Straight/ no ice/ no coco-cola or anything/ and no chaser. So far the absolute smoothest I've tried and was better than the Maker's Mark (which I didn't think possible until then). That makes one more whiskey I have to quit drinking, because I like it too much.
dat - Posted - 12/18/2013: 06:15:25
I'm not sure I want to try it or not, I finally go to where I didn't buy a half gallon of Jim Beam every time I passed the store, gave it up because I liked it to much, then makers mark, I liked it even better to much, I might better step away
DeanT - Posted - 12/19/2013: 17:33:54
I didn't have much of a choice... they wouldn't let me drink in detox...

I took my Gibson down to Arthur's shop there in Glasgow Kentucky to get him to make a new neck for it. I took I-65 south (quickest way from my folks house in Bloomington Indiana) down to his part of the country. That was in October of 2012. He told me it would be 6 months (at least), and sure enough it was April (2013) when it was ready and I made the trip back.
Both of those trips down and up I-65 I saw all the signs on the highway there for The Bourbon Trail there in Kentucky. I wished I had more time to visit all the distilleries there, but I didn't. Probably best that I didn't.
DeanT - Posted - 12/19/2013: 23:28:36
I'm Jealous... I'd love an Arthur neck on my banjo... someday maybe!
dat - Posted - 12/21/2013: 06:53:55
pretty country, I would get a job up there ifin it wasn't such a long drive every morning
dat - Posted - 12/30/2013: 08:50:06
then get kicked off my own show cause I don't care for some things, then get back on and make more money
dat - Posted - 12/30/2013: 12:33:44
that's the great thing about a reality show, ya never know how how much was planned, or everything is planned more like it

Happy New Year!
Just got back from visiting my folks in Indiana. I've got a day off today and then tomorrow we're starting the new year right with a bunch of OT so we can catch up with stuff that piled up while the college was closed. (700 applications, mostly.)

Great to see you back here! Happy new years you all. I celebrated today by running a half marathon in the freezing cold. It was great!
DeanT - Posted - 01/02/2014: 11:09:44
Everything still seems the same... nothing changed but the calendar.
DeanT - Posted - 01/02/2014: 23:43:20

DeanT - Posted - 01/03/2014: 17:41:31
It was an escrow account. That way you don't get hammered at the end of the year

Hello Dean. Welcome back. Was in your home town last week visiting mom and sis for a couple days before going north to see my wife's family. Back sometime in the next couple of months. Looking forward to BBQ!
Len
DeanT - Posted - 01/03/2014: 19:55:07
Hi Len, Just let me know when you're in town! We ate at the BBQ (Hog Wild) for supper tonight!
dat - Posted - 01/04/2014: 08:39:29
as cold as it's getting up there, you have to eat out, the flame will freeze on your charcoal if you leave it burning outside
DeanT - Posted - 01/04/2014: 10:26:12
The wind has just started picking up... cold front moving in this afternoon...
dat - Posted - 01/04/2014: 10:32:38

dmiller - Posted - 01/04/2014: 22:35:51
It's -15 right now, and forecasted to go to -28 (or more) tonight.
The neighbor' kids built a snowman in their front yard.
I heard a knocking at my door tonight - - -
It was the snowman wanting to come inside to warm up!
