These things are all under investigation

OM45GE - Posted - 11/10/2017:  10:54:00

That sounds pretty sinister.

chuckv97 - Posted - 11/10/2017:  11:02:28

That’s why “sin” is a part of “sinister”

OM45GE - Posted - 11/10/2017:  19:24:26

How do you explain that it is retsinis spelled backwards?

chuckv97 - Posted - 11/10/2017:  19:49:30

Don’t ask me- I always walk around srorrim.

OM45GE - Posted - 11/11/2017:  05:24:15

That could reflect badly on you.

chuckv97 - Posted - 11/11/2017:  19:36:10

Reminds me of this weird guy I roomed next to years ago. He broke the mirror of his dresser and put small pieces in the top corners of his room. He lived on 25 cent cups of chicken soup out of a vending machine.

OM45GE - Posted - 11/11/2017:  20:11:12

That is strange. I wonder where he ended up.

chuckv97 - Posted - 11/11/2017:  20:37:07

He was from ‘Frisco...,one day he was gone. I think the Chinese landlord gave him the boot.

I wonder if he took his mirrors with him.

chuckv97 - Posted - 11/13/2017:  09:35:55

Probably...he often paused for reflection

OM45GE - Posted - 11/13/2017:  14:11:10

Let me reflect on that for a moment.

chuckv97 - Posted - 11/13/2017:  14:40:47

Don’t overdo it - the world could pass you by.

DeanT - Posted - 11/13/2017:  16:24:16

life in the rearview mirror...

OM45GE - Posted - 11/13/2017:  19:19:39

Oh look, there I went.

DeanT - Posted - 11/14/2017:  05:20:58

I'm having flashbacks

chuckv97 - Posted - 11/14/2017:  06:39:46

I have too many

OM45GE - Posted - 11/14/2017:  12:35:42

I just renewed my DOT physical. $120 which my insurance won't cover because I already had a regular physical this year. I sat for two hours at the registry so they could scan the card into their system.

Not sure why I bother except I've had my tractor trailer license since 1972 and, if I don't do the physical, they take the TT endorsement away. Who knows, I may want to do some driving again.

chuckv97 - Posted - 11/14/2017:  14:08:21

Go for it, Bill...if just now and then for old time’s sake. I know of a couple retired drivers who keep their CDL’s up.
btw, are you retired yet?

OM45GE - Posted - 11/15/2017:  02:50:50

December 1st is my last day. I was going to go sooner but, by staying to then, I’m eligible for a months pay bonus and will get paid for five weeks of vacation that I would lose if I wait until the end of the year (go figure).

chuckv97 - Posted - 11/15/2017:  07:35:52

Wow.. only 16 more days.

DeanT - Posted - 11/15/2017:  10:10:13

sounds like a countdown to freedom!

OM45GE - Posted - 11/15/2017:  10:52:29

I have a countdown app on my phone. I installed it and set it up when I realized that I didn't like working for the company that bought the wonderful company I was working for. Actually "hated working for the company" is more accurate. I had about 1,400 days to go back then which seemed like an enormous number. Now it's almost down to single digits - and I moved the date out.

chuckv97 - Posted - 11/15/2017:  11:39:23

Ya, we’ve had a change in management here too. Not sure how they’re going forward - they are downsizing, closed 3 of our Canadian yards, selling off trailers, etc. They didn’t want the short runs or the retail (Walmart, Loblaws) deliveries anymore. This doesn’t affect me,but I hope they don’t start weeding out older drivers, or refusing to give me the winters off. Stay tuned, I guess.

OM45GE - Posted - 11/16/2017:  02:53:37

I hope that all works out for you.

DeanT - Posted - 11/16/2017:  06:22:16

you are going to wonder how you ever got anything done while working!

chuckv97 - Posted - 11/16/2017:  08:48:08

I know I can keep busy, but I’m not sure if I have enough money to enjoy life if I stay healthy and active for another 20 years.

DeanT - Posted - 11/16/2017:  12:14:52

start a band and hit the road!

chuckv97 - Posted - 11/16/2017:  12:19:10

Hah...that’ll be the day, buddy

Not interested huh?

chuckv97 - Posted - 11/16/2017:  16:09:11

My limited band experiences weren’t that great.

DeanT - Posted - 11/16/2017:  17:28:43

My band just started our 13th year together. Unfortunately, we are getting old, and already talking about next year being our last. It's been fun, but gets to be a grind sometimes too.

OM45GE - Posted - 11/16/2017:  18:26:35

I didn’t enjoy trying to earn a living playing music but I do like playing out.

chuckv97 - Posted - 11/16/2017:  18:53:31

I do like getting a tight sound with a band, but after a while the same tunes get boring, or there’s ego problems, or somebody quits because of their spouse, or,or....lol

OM45GE - Posted - 11/17/2017:  02:54:50

Most of my playing is solo or with a small ad hoc group.

DeanT - Posted - 11/17/2017:  05:30:43

We've never had any problems, it's really been a match made in heaven. Our play book has over 400 songs, so it never really gets boring. I just started getting my Christmas songs up to speed yesterday.

OM45GE - Posted - 11/17/2017:  06:26:14

When I was playing Rock, the bands changed all the time. When I was doing an acoustic duo, it was very easy. We're still best friends and only stopped playing out regularly because my partner moved about 100 mile away. We play, but mostly for fun.

As a duo, we used to add other musicians as we needed them for a particular gig.

DeanT - Posted - 11/17/2017:  10:02:45

we started as a 4 piece, but our bass player died of a heart attack. We continued as a trio, and still going strong. This was us in 2005

chuckv97 - Posted - 11/17/2017:  10:46:53

Looking good!

OM45GE - Posted - 11/17/2017:  11:59:12

I like the name too.

DeanT - Posted - 11/17/2017:  16:05:07

Thanks! It's been a real fun ride!

OM45GE - Posted - 11/18/2017:  05:57:39

I'm so grateful for having music in my life. I can't imagine being without it.

DeanT - Posted - 11/18/2017:  08:47:59

It's definitely gotten me through some tough times in the past

chuckv97 - Posted - 11/18/2017:  18:02:13

If I don’t play something, even for 5 minutes, it doesn’t seem like a complete day

DeanT - Posted - 11/18/2017:  19:13:59

I've actually gone the other way lately... I take one day off a week, to avoid burnout

OM45GE - Posted - 11/20/2017:  03:30:56

I’ve been on a learning binge and playing two or three hours a day.

DeanT - Posted - 11/20/2017:  10:17:09

I either play a gig, or practice for about 30 minutes on non-gig days. I don't think I've learned anything new in years. Well, I've learned new songs, but no new chords/licks/techniques. In fact, I'm going backwards, in that the older and slower my hands get, the more I simplify.

OM45GE - Posted - 11/20/2017:  13:10:38

I can't keep everything current. It's like older stuff drops off when I learn new things.

DeanT - Posted - 11/20/2017:  14:25:28

I just play the chords and wing it most of the time. I've never learned anything note-for-note. My FMB today sounds different than it did a year ago, and will be different next week.

My right thumb is starting to go south every once in a while,,just for 3 or 4 seconds. It’s like there’s no connection between brain and thumb muscle - it just floats. Hope it’s not focal dystonia.
