I often wonder why some countries have dangerous creatures running around, whilst some places don't have any.  New Zealand is one that comes to mind, the only thing dangerous there is the government.

I remember once in high school, we were camping out and thought we were in the middle of a total eclipse.

It was pitch black and you couldn't see anything....it was really creepy! Then someone noticed it was two a.m.

In our defense, we'd had a truckload of beer and rum and nothing but vienna sausages and half-cooked pork chops

to eat all day.

that sounds like you may have been with us back a few years ago, all our trips started with  plenty of adult beverages, food, well we didn't worry about that 'till the booze ran out

OM45GE - Posted - 11/13/2012:  15:19:44

We must have run with the same crowd.

dat - Posted - 11/13/2012:  15:22:58

we went camping out on Sam Rayburn lake once, where we were camping was about 30 miles from the house, well, a little wild turkey later we ended up sleeping on the beach in Galveston with the tent stuffed behind the seat of the truck

OM45GE - Posted - 11/13/2012:  15:35:13

Have you every had a police officer wake you up from sleeping in your car - parked in the middle of a cloverleaf?

DeanT - Posted - 11/13/2012:  17:13:30

I've been disturbed by the cops when me and the other occupant of my car were not in the front seat.

flake - Posted - 11/13/2012:  17:16:13

Not quite. But I remember one time a Virginia Fish and Game officer pecked on our window with a maglite and

asked if we were okay. We said "Oh yeah.....we're fine....and by the way.....what's Virginia Fish and Game Warden

doing in Kentucky?"

"Boys........you ain't nowhere near Kentucky."

I was once lying under the car making out with my girlfriend, and a cop tapped me on the shoulder and asked me what I was doing. I told him I was just fixing the gearbox. he said 'Well you had better fix the brakes too while you're there,  your car is 500 yards down the hill"

Our local police chief was my Dad's best friend. It SUCKED getting home and my Dad already knew what I had been up to...

OM45GE - Posted - 11/14/2012:  04:38:28

I pulled over on a really foggy night on what I thought was a back road. We were seriously getting down to business when a car pulled up behind us. It turned out to be a cop and we were about 50' from a stop sign on a fairly main road. He was nice and just told us to move on.

There was a job I interviewed for down your way and I was very interested in it.  I didn't get a good sense of the city or anything, though, so I was kind of torn as to whether I'd take it or not.  I think if I'd known all that I wouldn't have taken it.

I wasn't offered the job so ultimately I didn't have to make the decision.

All the guys I've ever dated had small cars. Wasn't worth trying to do anything in them.

DeanT - Posted - 11/14/2012:  07:16:12

I had a Dodge Polara. That thing was the size of a Motel...

Maybe if you're more flexible than I am.  I mostly remember pain.

dat - Posted - 11/14/2012:  08:28:16

Well, that isn't a good thing then, maby you can get a 1972 Chrystler New Yorker, they had plenty of room

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 11/14/2012:  08:35:06

I have always had big cars. But all the guys I've dated have been old fashioned and insisted on picking me up. Which means we're stuck with his car.

Used to drive me nuts when I was dating a guy who lived way the heck out. He'd get home from work pretty late and then he'd shower and change before coming to pick me up. Then we'd go out for dinner and rent a movie and go back to his house to watch it. Then he'd drive me back home and have to drive back himself. I can't tell you the number of times I offered to drive out to his place to meet him so that he wouldn't have to do so much driving and so we could get together a little earlier. But no. He had to come pick me up.

dat - Posted - 11/14/2012:  08:56:58

it's the polite thing to do, but now I think it's just as common either way, or to meet somewhere with each driving

The drummer in the rock bands I was in had an Austin Healey Sprite. He and I went parking with our dates in it. Young + horny = desperate.

change that  "Young" to "Older" and you still find ways to figure it out where ever you are at the time

Oh they remember the movie part when the rest of the night hangs on what they choose for said movie haha

dat - Posted - 11/14/2012:  13:29:24

we used to get liquored up shooting skeet, then when it started to get dark, somebody would get the Q Beam out and shine the light down range and we would still shoot skeet for the rest of the night and keep on drinking

mbanjo - Posted - 11/14/2012:  13:48:00

This is the result of a drunken night out back in '64

Kept the pictures to shame myself.....

I had some pictures of deer like that, we had a truck load of them.  we never took any pictures, but you can fit fifty seven wood ducks in a black trash bag, the limit was 2 a person a day

mbanjo - Posted - 11/14/2012:  14:38:44

I actually was arrested by the police over those kangaroos....It was Sunday, and back in 1964 it was illegal to use a firearm in New South Wales on a Sunday.  I think that stupid law has since been changed, but it cost me a lot in fines and I also had my rifle confiscated.

OM45GE - Posted - 11/14/2012:  16:25:38

I had some friends from school who were out driving around drinking. They were stopped at a traffic light and the car behind them just barely tapped their bumper. All four of them rolled out of the car on the ground and started yelling "whiplash!". The car that hit them was two cops in a squad car.

DeanT - Posted - 11/14/2012:  16:26:06

The only time I ever got arrested was after taking out a guard rail (yep, totaled my Dodge Polara)... but I was bleeding so bad (split lip) in the cop car, that they let me go.

OM45GE - Posted - 11/14/2012:  16:32:25

The closest I've been to arrested was getting put in protective custody. It's a looooooooooong story.

Maybe I should do something from the old days that's worth of incarceration just to say I've done it.

Nah, never mind.

dat - Posted - 11/15/2012:  05:52:50

I've never been arrested, but I have set in the back of a highway patrols car for while while he lectured me on drinking and driving.   got checked by the game warden while duck hunting, he checked all of our birds (except for the 8 over the limit that I had breasted out in ziplock bags in my waders)  plenty of times I should have been arrested and was lucky enough not to be

DeanT - Posted - 11/15/2012:  06:58:06

Oh gosh... prolly shouldn't talk about the stuff we never got caught doing....

Unfortunately I remember a lot of the movies.

It took a lot to get him motivated and if there was something to distract him (like a movie or a historical documentary on TV) I was not his first priority.

I think he sometimes still wonders why we broke up.

dat - Posted - 11/15/2012:  07:16:57

most of the time for us guys all it takes is somebody willing, what was wrong with him?  (of course once married, that somebody is one somebody, not all somebody's)

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 11/15/2012:  07:29:55

I don't know what the deal was. But it was very frustrating.

We both were living with our parents at the time, so there were definitely some challenges in finding opportunities. But there were plenty of times when we had opportunities and he was just not interested.

Alaina - Posted - 11/15/2012:  08:05:48

If it makes you feel better, my ex would pick spending hours at the gym over spending even 20 minutes with me. And then he told me I had to choose between him and my best friend. Care to guess who I chose?
