I remember that because there were supposedly some planes that had nukes on them and it made the news. I had a friend who had worked at the Loring SAC base in Maine who said they would never be able to detonate.

We were out on the flight line on the other side of the runway, and saw the whole thing. There was a KC135 on the transient ramp, and then 10 bombers all lined up. The tornado went right in between the bombers and the transport. It leveled the base gym, the bowling alley and hospital. Unbelievably no one on the base died. Then it went on to hit and trailer park in Andover Kansas, and did kill a bunch of people there.

We had a small tornado about twenty years ago that touched down at a lake in the town I was living in. The only structure it destroyed was a mobile home. There were a few conventional homes that were damaged but repairable

Damn! I've been in Wichita for 38 years, and they knock on our door, and have crazed the edges of the city, but no major hits to the heart. We watch, and they scare the crap out of us, but they always seem to break up before anything major.
