When I think of French I think of Quebec. They fiercely hang on to their culture. A Flying J opened up a few years ago nearMontreal - they closed up because they refused to follow the Quebec ruling of having businesses display signs in French.

Wow Bill, your son is a real achiever!

I think there may have been a mix-up in the nursery. He's bright, funny and good looking. Can't be from my gene pool.

chuckv97 - Posted - 08/11/2017:  11:25:25

Ah, methinks thou beist too modest

OM45GE - Posted - 08/11/2017:  13:57:20

I don't know. The pool is pretty shallow and has too much chlorine in it. cool

DeanT - Posted - 08/11/2017:  15:59:11

Pool? Chlorine? Someone is speaking my language!

chuckv97 - Posted - 08/11/2017:  17:55:50

Bleached hair ,anyone?

OM45GE - Posted - 08/11/2017:  18:12:23

Used to turn my hair yellow until I discovered Ultra Swim.

DeanT - Posted - 08/11/2017:  20:38:18

My hair is very bleached from the chlorine right now!

OM45GE - Posted - 08/12/2017:  06:51:42

Have you tried Ultra Swim? It's it inexpensive but it really worked for me.

DeanT - Posted - 08/12/2017:  07:30:00

Nope! I never even heard of it. I'm not complaining yet, it's kind of cool to be a geezer, and my hair is as blond as it was when I was a teenager.

OM45GE - Posted - 08/12/2017:  15:47:46

The chlorine made my hair an ugly yellow and my hair was really dry and coarse feeling. With the shampoo the color came back and my hair was really healthy.

DeanT - Posted - 08/12/2017:  18:13:01

I've been swimming 3 times a week, for a year this month, and so far just blond... but if it goes south, I'll try the shampoo!

OM45GE - Posted - 08/13/2017:  17:47:06

I haven't been able to swim any distance since my rotator cuff surgery. I miss it.

DeanT - Posted - 08/13/2017:  19:03:36

4.7 miles is my furthest swim to date (2 weeks ago). Would love to make it to 10K (6.2 miles)

OM45GE - Posted - 08/14/2017:  05:02:02

That's a long swim. I used to do 1.25 miles five days a week followed by some weight work. 6.2 would have taken me hours.

DeanT - Posted - 08/14/2017:  10:06:53

Just got back from the pool. 6.2 miles in 3:05:54

OM45GE - Posted - 08/14/2017:  10:20:39

That's hours! big Nice pace Dean.

chuckv97 - Posted - 08/14/2017:  10:22:07

I'm tired just hearing that!

OM45GE - Posted - 08/14/2017:  10:24:18

On Saturdays I used to run eleven miles to the gym, swim 1.25 miles, do some lifting and then get a massage. My wife would meet me there and we'd have dinner and head home. It was great but ain't gonna happen now.

DeanT - Posted - 08/14/2017:  14:15:39

Thanks you guys! I'm still doing it, before my expiration date, whenever that may be. My swim this morning was after a 17 mile bike ride, a 5 mile run, and 30 minutes in the weight room.

chuckv97 - Posted - 08/14/2017:  17:57:10

You're scary, Dean. 👍😎

OM45GE - Posted - 08/14/2017:  18:02:12

Good stuff man.

OM45GE - Posted - 08/14/2017:  18:30:08

Kicking and screaming man.

DeanT - Posted - 08/15/2017:  04:20:46

I won the summer triathlon at our local Air Force base, it was a blast being old retired geezer, kicking all the kid's asses

OM45GE - Posted - 08/15/2017:  11:12:18

I'm not in your league Dean, but I am in pretty good shape for a 66 year old and it is fun to outpace younguns. I've taken kids skiing and on hikes and they're calling it quits when I'm just getting started.

DeanT - Posted - 08/15/2017:  12:28:58

AWESOME!!! Never stop moving! One of the reasons i'm hitting so hard now, is because I still can.... even though my fastest days are 20 years in the past. We can't do it forever, but we can sure try. last Friday evening I got my ass handed to me by a 65 year old runner, in an 8K race. He said he was sorry for taking my throne (It was a $$ money race, and I had won it the previous 2 years)... I told him THANK YOU for showing me that I have hope for at least 10 more good years!

OM45GE - Posted - 08/15/2017:  13:41:40

I was on a ski lift last winter with an 82 year old woman who had both knees replaced that winter. She was still going strong. Inspiring!

I'm just trying to play banjo at 140 bpm,, not as easy as when in my 20's.

DeanT - Posted - 08/15/2017:  16:03:00

My banjo playing is slowing down more than my running! (or I'm just learning more tastefull playinglaugh)

OM45GE - Posted - 08/15/2017:  17:13:17

I've been playing a lot of electric guitar lately - mostly blues and jazz. I'm having lots of fun.

chuckv97 - Posted - 08/15/2017:  17:25:45

I'm doing a lot of stretching to stay limber- especially my hands and fingers ,which are pretty stiff every morning.

DeanT - Posted - 08/15/2017:  17:30:15

I still do all my banjo practice on my telecaster

OM45GE - Posted - 08/16/2017:  04:53:31

I was jamming with my son last night. I was playing House of the Rising Sun on electric guitar with a lot of reverb and tremolo and he was playing incredible lead on flugelhorn. It was great.

chuckv97 - Posted - 08/16/2017:  05:20:35

I taught my kids guitar for a few years but it didn't stick. There has to be an intense interest ,I think, to keep playing a musical instrument.

OM45GE - Posted - 08/16/2017:  09:01:58

Ethan definitely has an intense interest in it.

OM45GE - Posted - 08/16/2017:  09:03:06

He had an English project and wrote a poem in which the repetitive theme was, "Music is not what I do, it is who I am."

chuckv97 - Posted - 08/16/2017:  09:59:23

I can relate. I was almost pathologically obsessed with it in my 20's

DeanT - Posted - 08/16/2017:  10:13:10

I did it kind of backwards... I have no music passion, but my friends begged me to play in their band. It became easy money, and I'm still at it

OM45GE - Posted - 08/16/2017:  15:07:52

I got obsessed in the 60's and have never looked back. If anything it's gotten more intense.

DeanT - Posted - 08/16/2017:  16:06:03

Before the band, all I did was play slide blues for myself. If the band ever folds, I'll go back to that.

OM45GE - Posted - 08/17/2017:  02:40:12

I've always wanted to get good at slide guitar but never put the time in. I'm also intrigued by pedal steel.

chuckv97 - Posted - 08/17/2017:  06:39:29

I like the dobro....Jerry Douglas is a whiz on it

OM45GE - Posted - 08/17/2017:  06:46:30

I'm playing at a festival in NH in September. There are a couple of dobro players and pedal steel guy who are supposed to be there.

DeanT - Posted - 08/17/2017:  06:59:05

I could see me in a rest home with a square neck in my lap someday...

chuckv97 - Posted - 08/17/2017:  07:06:25

A nurse with a square neck ...?

OM45GE - Posted - 08/17/2017:  07:14:44

LOL

DeanT - Posted - 08/17/2017:  12:34:13
