I agree. The problem is when the snow falls. I would rather mow the grass.
DeanT - Posted - 12/20/2011: 16:30:45
I think totally opposite... I've never been able to successfully kick back and do nothing until the grass melts....
dat - Posted - 12/21/2011: 06:45:58
yeah, no snow around here, I never have been on water skis either
DeanT - Posted - 12/21/2011: 07:16:05
I've never put on skis either, and I grew up in Michigan. However I was just about born with hockey skates on
dat - Posted - 12/21/2011: 07:42:19
Looks like ya'll may get a chance for a little snow here pretty quick
Mr. Quimby - Posted - 12/21/2011: 08:36:48
I tried waterskiing once. Wasn't any good at it. I don't have enough upper body strength for that sort of thing.
I also have a phobia about breaking my ankle and it's always sounded like skiing was a good way to do that, so I've never done any other type of skiing.
dat - Posted - 12/21/2011: 08:52:59
I have skidded across the mud and up on the bank in a boat, not intentionally though, and a lot of beverages were involved, on each occasion, we even ended up in a bush top once
OM45GE - Posted - 12/21/2011: 09:27:04
Actually, you're more likely to break your fibula or tibia than your ankle.
dat - Posted - 12/21/2011: 10:00:28
on a boat ride on the river with us back then there was no tellin what would get broken. 14 ft duracraft v bottom with a 40 hp johnson and 60 hp carbs, we could chase down a duck in no time, 55 mph and turn on a dime
OM45GE - Posted - 12/21/2011: 10:07:27
We have a Correct Craft Ski Nautique ski boat. It's got a 351 Ford V8 in it. It's geared more for pulling power than top speed but will still do 55 MPH. My son and I raced a couple of Mallards up the river two years ago. They were about 30' to one side of us and kept looking over at us like they were saying "What the H#%L?!?!?!?!?

Rationally I know that. And actually the thought of that doesn't bother me as much as breaking my ankle.

I used to not need a reason to drink whisky other than being close to a bottle
DeanT - Posted - 12/21/2011: 17:48:55
Jim Beam used to force me to lift the bottle to my lips and tip it up.
OM45GE - Posted - 12/22/2011: 03:51:20
Do you find there's always a hole in the bottle and the whisky leaks out?
DeanT - Posted - 12/22/2011: 07:31:46
I would usualy only mean to take a small sip, but way more rushed uncontrollably into my mouth
dat - Posted - 12/22/2011: 11:29:48
You da man, I was a wus, I had to dilute it some. usually a 44 ounce glass with a 12 ounce coke and a good eight count of the bottle turned up then a few ice cubes would top it off
DeanT - Posted - 12/22/2011: 19:24:04
It was not uncommon to start a 5th after work on Friday, and buy a second 5th before the liquor store closed at 11pm. Man I can still taste it and smell it like it was yesterday! Last time was 21 years ago!
dat - Posted - 12/23/2011: 05:40:15
my brother said that if he hasn't learned anything else in the military, he has learned how to drink
OM45GE - Posted - 12/23/2011: 05:52:32
My Dad said the same thing. He was a pilot in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He said FYI was pretty common.
DeanT - Posted - 12/23/2011: 07:26:49
I'm suddenly feeling a hangover just thinking about it! We used to use the oxygen masks to get over the hangovers...
OM45GE - Posted - 12/23/2011: 07:40:08
He used to tell a story about coming in to land a Gooney Bird and cut the throttles at touchdown. Unfortunately he was 100' up at the time. He said if the C47's weren't so strong I would never have been born.

OM45GE - Posted - 12/23/2011: 09:45:03
He flew a bunch of different planes during the war but loved the C-47. Rught up until he died he said he felt as though he could sit in the cockpit and fly it.

I've seen that before... it's always good. And not as unusual as you might think!
dat - Posted - 12/28/2011: 14:04:10

Because my on line-tax prep company sent me a "reminder" e-mail today... and I thought I'd spread the happy happy-joyjoy.
Trivia Q: What TV show did "happy happy-joyjoy" come from?
OM45GE - Posted - 12/29/2011: 08:04:18
There are some incredibly funny and creative cartoons these days.
DeanT - Posted - 12/29/2011: 08:13:16
Other than background noise... I hardly ever watch TV anymore, I don't have a clue whats hot in cartoons.
dat - Posted - 12/29/2011: 08:14:56
my bride will turn on TCM if there is a good movie on, but we hardly ever watch TV
OM45GE - Posted - 12/29/2011: 09:47:55
I've got an 11 year old so I get to see and hear them even if I'm not watching.
DeanT - Posted - 12/29/2011: 12:52:05
I won't really watch anything until Daytona in February... and even then I only watch the crash replays...
