I know. I've had a couple of minor falls that ended up requiring surgery - rotator cuff and ankle - that I would have laughed off in my 20's.

I hate the legs falling asleep part of aging. When I sit down, my legs fall asleep about the time my butt hits the chair
dat - Posted - 02/26/2013: 07:23:28
how much snow did ya'll get yesterday in Kansas? my Bro. in OK city said they got a little over an inch
dat - Posted - 02/26/2013: 12:14:47
or slipped in the snow and his dogs are dragging him around like sled dogs
DeanT - Posted - 02/26/2013: 13:46:37
The snow storm was a joke. They forecasted 12". It snowed a little bit, was wet, and melted faster than it came down. It was a non event :(
OM45GE - Posted - 02/26/2013: 15:56:46
I still think the news outlets have a strong interest in hyping the storms. They get ad revenues based on their ratings and there's nothing like a weather emergency to drive up ratings.
dat - Posted - 02/27/2013: 06:24:12
we've already had a couple of tornado warnings and tornado watches around here, we get the best of both worlds, tornados and hurricanes
dat - Posted - 02/27/2013: 08:16:39
been about 8 or 9 years since I've stepped in to a bar, and staggered out
OM45GE - Posted - 02/27/2013: 09:28:47
I remember times when I thought I was doing pretty good being able to stagger - plus a bunch when I couldn't.
dat - Posted - 02/27/2013: 09:48:45
or just be proud to know where you are when you wake up, much less remember how you got there
DeanT - Posted - 02/27/2013: 13:05:44
I play in the bars all the time... but it's been 0ver 22 years since I staggered out of one...
dat - Posted - 02/27/2013: 14:14:02
my want to is stronger than my don't want to when it comes to drinking, if I went in a bar now I would probably still stagger out, ............better for me to just stay out
OM45GE - Posted - 02/28/2013: 02:33:57
I don't drink at all if I'm playing out. I'm real glad they don't allow smoking in bars around here anymore. I remember taking my guitar or banjo out the case after a bar gig and gagging at the tobacco reek - and I used to smoke back then.
DeanT - Posted - 02/28/2013: 06:43:19
I used to smoke too. Now I run marathons... a whole different world!
dat - Posted - 02/28/2013: 07:03:25
I tried smoking several times, well, 5 times. an unlit cigarette smells good, and that first light with a zippo filled with ronsonol smells good, I choked up my toenails after the puffs though. chewing tobacco and snuff I had a hard time passing up
DeanT - Posted - 03/01/2013: 12:18:45
I would smoke like a chimney stack if I ever got an incurable disease.
dat - Posted - 03/01/2013: 13:14:34
or smoke like a 1936 Fairbanks Morse model 32 D

Really. I have a couple of friends in Kansas who posted pictures of a good foot of snow and my one friend said school was cancelled for her son for three days.
DeanT - Posted - 03/02/2013: 14:10:25
There were some places in Kansas that got a lot more snow than Wichita. They also have an insane practice here of canceling school based on a forecast, and not actual weather. Last Monday they forecasted 12"+ in Wichita, and all the schools closed. The final snow total was 6 1/2" over two days, and the temps were above freezing so it melted as fast as it hit the ground. The roads stayed clear, and the kids got a free day off, for nothing. Other areas of Kansas really got hammered, and they even closed I-70 for a day. But all we got was a teaser. By northern state's standards, it wouldn't even have deserved a mention on the news.
ErikH - Posted - 03/04/2013: 02:29:26
We're supposed to be getting 6+ inches late tonight into tomorrow. We'll have to see what really happens.
OM45GE - Posted - 03/04/2013: 04:24:06
They are saying that storm will go out to sea south of us. Time will tell.
DeanT - Posted - 03/04/2013: 06:59:29
I was out running yesterday shirtless and got a sun burn. Sun is back out today but cooler
dat - Posted - 03/04/2013: 07:36:37
if I ran shirtless right now, you would need a dark pair of sunglasses even in Kansas, I'll be glad when it warms up a little bit and I can go topless for a little bit
dat - Posted - 03/04/2013: 10:40:01
I start out with overalls and a t shirt, then ease into no t shirt, I don't want to blind everybody right off with the glare
DeanT - Posted - 03/04/2013: 13:01:58
Worked on my tan again today running shirtless... sunny in Kansas. I should probably not do this, since my Dad and my sister have both had skin cancer removed.
dat - Posted - 03/04/2013: 13:33:33
I've been told that it was the sun you got 20 years or so ago that causes the skin cancer you get now, so the sun now shouldn't do anything for another 20 years
DeanT - Posted - 03/04/2013: 13:38:08
That's probably not good... I've gotten a lot of sun (way too much) my entire life. Interestingly, my sister (a redhead with fair skin) probably never got sun burned, and probably has less hours in the sun in her life than I get in a week... is the one who had the skin cancer
dat - Posted - 03/04/2013: 14:07:28
redheads are more likely to get it from what I understand, I'm pretty light complected and light blond hair, I burn pretty easy and have to ease into getting sun. chances are I'll get it before my brother who is darker haired than me.
dmiller - Posted - 03/04/2013: 14:29:47
I went to Florida on spring break with some college friends back in 1971. I got a tan there from hanging out on the beach. The only tan I've had since then is a "farmer's tan".
ErikH - Posted - 03/04/2013: 14:44:28
It's been quite a number of years since I've had anything but a farmer's tan.
dat - Posted - 03/04/2013: 14:49:07
most summers I'll have a white X on my back from wearing overalls
dmiller - Posted - 03/04/2013: 14:51:32
if overalls don't coverall, how can they be called overalls?
OM45GE - Posted - 03/05/2013: 04:44:35
Thanks Dean. I'm not going to have trouble concentrating on anything today.
Mr. Quimby - Posted - 03/05/2013: 09:06:06
I look like a dork in overalls.
Actually I pretty much look like a dork in general.
We're supposed to be getting a fair bit of snow tomorrow. And it's supposed to be heavy, wet snow, so it'll likely take down power lines and such. Should be fun.
