I got a concussion two winters ago running outside and crashing on the ice. I'm to old for that!

OM45GE - Posted - 07/14/2014:  12:25:43

I did the same three years ago while walking the dog. I woke up on the ground and walked home. Didn't realize how bad it was until I woke up in the emergency room later that day. I guess I passed out and they called 911.

dat - Posted - 07/14/2014:  12:41:43

last time I really really hurt myself, I was pretty well liquored up, been a while

OM45GE - Posted - 07/14/2014:  13:23:37

Most of my physical injuries have happened when I was sober. I guess I don't need booze to be a clutz.

DeanT - Posted - 07/14/2014:  15:33:52

I bounced better when I was drunk

OM45GE - Posted - 07/14/2014:  16:59:54

LOL

dat - Posted - 07/15/2014:  13:10:34

I probably didn't actually get hurt more back then, but I have more scars and permanent marks left from then,

We're getting pounded by a strong thunderstorm. Flash flood and tornado warnings on the iPhone.

DeanT - Posted - 07/15/2014:  16:13:27

send the rain to Kansas!

OM45GE - Posted - 07/15/2014:  16:45:39

I wish I could. We got an inch of rain in half an hour. Then it stopped like a faucet had been shut off. More on the way.

Scaggs7 - Posted - 07/15/2014:  17:09:49

I set outside and watch the runners go by , the I get in the mood and follow them

OM45GE - Posted - 07/15/2014:  17:36:06

Ah Mother Nature.

DeanT - Posted - 07/15/2014:  18:35:03

I love running in the rain

I was working on a farm years ago and lightning hit a few yards from a guy on a tractor. It stunned him,and he fell off to the ground. He was ok after a while. The next day we went back to the spot and all the corn plants in a 50 ft. circle were scorched and blackened.

DeanT - Posted - 07/15/2014:  22:59:21

I've had lightening strike about 50 yards from me. Hit a tree and fried it. Too close for me!

OM45GE - Posted - 07/16/2014:  03:06:20

One of my good friends is a tree surgeon and has been hit three times. Once on the job when it hit a tree near him and knocked him out, once when it hit the house as he was putting his key in the front door which gave him a bad jolt and the third time when he was hiking in the woods and it hit a tree. That one knocked him down but not out.  He doesn't like it when we call him "Sparky".

DeanT - Posted - 07/16/2014:  06:15:07

My wife won't even get the paper on the front porch when it's lightening

OM45GE - Posted - 07/16/2014:  06:34:18

I won't take a shower or go stand around tall trees if there's thunder and lightning around, but I like to watch the storms.

I was sailing in the Chesapeake Bay years ago. We were anchored in a big bay and barbecuing dinner when a big thunderstorm moved in. We just had to ride it out but it was nerve wracking sitting at the bottom of a 60 foot aluminum mast. It was quite a show.

dat - Posted - 07/16/2014:  10:20:43

I like to watch it and listen to the thunder, it's some pretty powerful stuff

chuckv97 - Posted - 07/16/2014:  11:07:08

Not sure, but I think aluminum is non- magnetic. Wonder if it will attract lightning.

OM45GE - Posted - 07/16/2014:  11:33:53

Aluminum is an excellent conductor. Most of the high tension lines you see are aluminum conductors with steel reinforcement. Aluminum is about half the weight of comparable resistance copper.

DeanT - Posted - 07/16/2014:  12:35:18

I don't think trees are magnetic either

dat - Posted - 07/16/2014:  12:48:19

trees have a lot of water in them, great conductors,  I don't believe I've ever tried to stick a magnet to one though, other than looking fer nails

OM45GE - Posted - 07/16/2014:  13:16:57

Gold is a great conductor too.

dat - Posted - 07/16/2014:  14:08:22

automotive battery 12 volts DC ain't much, 'till you're sweatted down and aren't expecting it, the the human body can conduct electricity pretty well.  you get a tingle without the shock but you still can feel it

OM45GE - Posted - 07/16/2014:  14:27:23

When we were kids we used to go to the horse fields which were surrounded by an electric fence that was powered by a 12 volt car battery. We would all hold hands with one person holding the fence. Then the last kid would grab the fence and the shock would run through all of us. I didn't care for it much.

dat - Posted - 07/16/2014:  14:52:46

those fence chargers boosted the amperage up a lot though, they could rattle yer teeth when you touched one

OM45GE - Posted - 07/16/2014:  15:07:20

Yeah, as I recall it was quite a jolt. There was a girl I liked who really got a kick out of it. We were only 11 or 12 and she moved away around that time. I wonder what happened to her.

dat - Posted - 07/16/2014:  15:27:03

What were we talking about?

dat - Posted - 07/18/2014:  05:42:23

DeanT - Posted - 07/18/2014:  05:54:18

The day when we will be able to upload stuff to our brains from a computer....

I hope I'm not still around by then

OM45GE - Posted - 07/18/2014:  14:02:55

It's fun to be in shape now, and imagine what it would be like t meet up with a**holes from the past

OM45GE - Posted - 07/19/2014:  04:32:58

They're probably still a$$holes.

DeanT - Posted - 07/19/2014:  07:03:51

Hi a$$hole... remember me?angry

dat - Posted - 07/19/2014:  07:35:38

OM45GE - Posted - 07/19/2014:  13:01:47

I would have to go to prison to say that to the biggest a$$hole from when I was a kid. He's not getting out.

DeanT - Posted - 07/19/2014:  16:24:45

Karma works that way sometimes...

OM45GE - Posted - 07/19/2014:  18:28:40

If I think deeply about it, I fell bad for him because he came from a crapulous family, but he really was a nasty SOB.

chuckv97 - Posted - 07/20/2014:  21:55:53

I hear you- some of the most difficult people come from rotten families, and yet it's tough to be friends even though you feel bad for them . They were born with 2 strikes against them- not their fault....
