Me or him?

My concert was awesome although I didn't bother sticking around for birthday cake. The opening act was HOT. And his music was pretty good, too...

DeanT - Posted - 01/07/2012:  17:13:22

We are all old guys, so probably not that hot, but the music was smoking, the place was hopping, and the tip jar was full... yes... very good night!

If he was hot did you suggest that he remove some clothing?

Sounds like a good one to me. Congrats.

DeanT - Posted - 01/09/2012:  16:14:55

Thanks! And we all kept our clothes on...

OM45GE - Posted - 01/09/2012:  17:30:14

That takes some of the fun out of it.

It's a fun novelty song - depending on the audience.

I did extra sit-ups and push-ups today because of that video...

OM45GE - Posted - 01/11/2012:  08:25:39

Nice work. I have a cedar chest similar to yours, but no where near as nice.

dat - Posted - 01/11/2012:  08:32:59

I like working with cedar, it makes the shop smell nice.

my bride likes that little rosewood and cherry what not box

OM45GE - Posted - 01/11/2012:  09:54:48

My dad used to be a pretty good woodworker. I've never seemed to have the time to get into it - too many other hobbies. You do nive work from the photos.

dat - Posted - 01/11/2012:  10:07:57

thank you,   it is fun to mess with, after dealing with the public all day it's as good as picking the banjo for relaxing and getting away from work

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 01/11/2012:  16:12:08

Those are gorgeous, Dat!

dat - Posted - 01/12/2012:  06:16:00

thank you, I've been thinking about building a banjo, but I don't have a lathe yet to turn the rim

OM45GE - Posted - 01/12/2012:  06:30:41

They really are beautiful - do you take orders? big

dat - Posted - 01/12/2012:  06:51:25

actually I do.     D.A.A.S.  Woodworking.     I need to get a website or something, but I'm still trying to hang on to the analog world as much as I can, even with woodworking I try to use as few nails or screws as I can and use the wood joints that will hold strong with just glue.   no cell phone and I would use a rotary phone at home if I still had one

OM45GE - Posted - 01/12/2012:  07:11:34

I wish I could stay analog, but that horse is long out of the barn. My job is about 90% electronic. I tell people that I could work at the North Pole if they had reliable internet and phone service. It's definitely a mixed blessing though. I may want to talk.about commissioning something for next Christmas.

DeanT - Posted - 01/12/2012:  07:21:13

My wife had a flat tire in a very bad section of town. We had just gotten our first cell phones. I've never said a bad word about cell phones since. It's all we've had since 2002, and it's been a lot cheaper than the old land line was.

dat - Posted - 01/12/2012:  08:00:38

Cell phones may be cheaper, but they don't work at out house, well they do if you walk out of the house and down the driveway about 20 yards out of the house and stand in just the right spot and don't move more than about 6 or 8 inches once you've found a signal

DeanT - Posted - 01/12/2012:  10:12:32

Our older cell phones were sucky sometimes inside buildings, or out in the country. Over the years they've gotten better and better. I remember when they would drop calls a lot, and the battery needed to be charged every other day. Not anymore. My newest phone (just a basic model I've had for about 2 years now) has never dropped a call or couldn't find a signal (inside or out), and it lasts about 2 weeks on a charge. They are definitely MUCH better than they used to be.

dat - Posted - 01/12/2012:  10:20:07

our oldest girl has some kind of i phone that she talks to siri and asks stuff, but it doesn't work when she gets close to home

DeanT - Posted - 01/12/2012:  10:28:53

maybe you have too much anti-UFO tin foil on the roof? Of that table saw is creating to much static electricity :)

OM45GE - Posted - 01/13/2012:  03:23:11

I work in a 12 story building about three blocks from a Verizon facility with a cell tower on the roof and my reception is spotty at best.

finally friday

DeanT - Posted - 01/13/2012:  07:41:54

Yay! Lots of music on tap for this weekend

OM45GE - Posted - 01/13/2012:  11:19:03

It's supposed to be pretty cold this weekend. I may just sit by the fire, walk the dog, sit by the fire, walk the dog...

dat - Posted - 01/13/2012:  12:37:36

it was cold last night, got down to about 28, that cold you don't have to walk the dog much, it'll sleep by the fire with you. it's amazing how long a dog can go without wetting on something when it's cold

OM45GE - Posted - 01/13/2012:  12:41:10

Toby LOVES the cold. He likes it if it's snowy even more. It's supposed to get down into the single digits overnight with a strong wind blowing. I'll be bundled up and he'll be running around like a mad man.

dat - Posted - 01/13/2012:  13:05:28

about like my old lab, he loved the cold. even when there was ice on the edge of water he was breaking through and splashing around, I think the cold made him like a puppy again

This is the main reason I got a cell.  And after the accident I had a couple months ago I'm very glad I had it.

Generally speaking, I'm not someone who spends a lot of time on my cell.  I don't think I ever come close to using up my minutes.  Of course I've never been a big talked on the phone anyway, except with my ex-boyfriend.  He and I could talk for hours.

Does this mean you're keeping the dog?

DeanT - Posted - 01/14/2012:  08:47:08

Our smart dogs go out the front door when it's cold... and turn around and come back in... only to fly through the house to the back door, thinking it will be warmer out back.

OM45GE - Posted - 01/14/2012:  09:02:52

Is your back door in a different latitude?

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 01/14/2012:  09:08:01

I need to start getting a little more diligent about my dogs. My smaller one in particular has been a real wuss about going outside. Then he sneaks down into the basement and pees.

I need to start crating him when I can't watch him. If it's a little cold or a little rainy or the larger dog is a little hyper and might jump on him, he just decides it's easier to run downstairs when I'm not looking.

And it's not just that he's peeing down there. He's lifting his leg on things I have down there. So far it's only been things like plastic storage boxes, but I have a lot of wool sitting out and a nice cedar chest and some book shelves with lots of books.

DeanT - Posted - 01/14/2012:  09:13:54

same latitude! Our back yard is all straw... maybe it warmer on their little tootsies...

OM45GE - Posted - 01/16/2012:  06:05:03

It was 8 degrees when I walked Toby this morning. Fortunately there was no wind so it wasn't too bad. We took a nice woods trail called Indian Ridge.

dat - Posted - 01/16/2012:  07:03:33

it's 63* here right now, I need to go out to my truck and get a jacket
