I'm friends with a fair number of old college friends on FB. I probably wouldn't keep up to date with their lives if it weren't for that. And I've made a fair number of friends that I stay in touch with via FB. It's kind of cool to know that if I travel somewhere there's likely someone I know that I can go hang out with and stuff.

Outside of the internet I don't really have a lot of friends.

Alaina - Posted - 01/17/2013:  15:54:49

I'm the same way smiley

ErikH - Posted - 01/17/2013:  16:54:11

I don't have a Facebook account.  I kind of figure that I don't really need to resume contact with people I stopped contact with years ago.  I probably lost contact with them for a reason...

DeanT - Posted - 01/17/2013:  17:25:57

I do a lot with the dog groups on face book. Our band also gets most of it's gigs, and advertises them on face book. It's also how I keep up with my family, whom I hadn't contacted in over 5 years before face book. I'm a big face book fan. I use what I like, and throw out what I don't. I don't care much about the security stuff, and I've always just figured that everything you do anywhere on the web is accessible to anyone and everyone all the time, so proceed accordingly.

I do physician and executive recruiting at a pharmaceutical and biotech company. We use Facebook and Linked in extensively. I'm getting tired of a lot of the meanness on Facebook though and mostly use Linked In.

dat - Posted - 01/18/2013:  05:43:01

I get enough of the computers at work

DeanT - Posted - 01/18/2013:  07:45:56

My wife plays bingo on FB every night

Alaina - Posted - 01/18/2013:  08:32:52

I use facebook for talking to people and sharing pics. Games on there are a waste of my life

dat - Posted - 01/18/2013:  08:34:03

I played F.M.B. on the banjer last night, well, let me rephrase that, I tried to play F.M. B. on the banjer, my bride didn't recognize it, so I didn't do to purty good

Alaina - Posted - 01/18/2013:  08:35:38

Practice! If everyone could do everything right off the bat, then we would all be the same

dat - Posted - 01/18/2013:  09:34:00

I do need to practice a lot more, it's gotten to where I don't pick up my banjo much anymore, I think it's been a year or more since my bride has gotten her Martin out and strummed anything and I have to wipe the dust off my banjo between playings

Alaina - Posted - 01/18/2013:  09:50:00

I still need to build my banjo. Right now I just mess around with the ones in the showroom at work

dat - Posted - 01/18/2013:  10:14:55

I have thought about building one, just haven't gotten around to it.  I started rebuilding my grandfathers old tenor banjo a while back but it's been to cold to get out in the shop and do much.   I have the pot and resonator refinished just waiting on spending the money on a new fretboard

right now I'm working on a set of canoe seats for a guy here at work, then my next project is a wood strip kayak, well actually a pair of wood strip kayaks.  not sure if I'm gonna use cedar,  okoume, or mahogany,  okoume is the lightest I believe and it is good around water as long as you have a good finish on it

Would you mind posting pics when you are done? I love looking at your work smiley

dat - Posted - 01/18/2013:  10:56:48

I'll try,   I don't have a computer friendly camera, so I usually get somebody to take pictures then e mail them to me, then some of those pictures come through as "silverlight" and those I can't post

Alaina - Posted - 01/18/2013:  10:58:15

Does your phone take pictures?

dat - Posted - 01/18/2013:  11:03:37

nope, my phone is on a wire in the kitchen,  don't have a cell phone

Alaina - Posted - 01/18/2013:  12:23:01

High five!

dat - Posted - 01/18/2013:  12:36:58

I kinda like the old ways, not only do I not have a cell phone, I use hand planes on wood and mechanical screwdrivers instead of cordless

Alaina - Posted - 01/18/2013:  14:25:25

I definitely wish that I had been able to experience the simpler times...

DeanT - Posted - 01/18/2013:  16:12:42

I'd love to build a banjo... but I'm too busy playing the ones I have. I play too much, usually 4+ hours a day and sometimes a lot more. Sometimes I'm borderline burned out on it but the bands keep me going.

Back to FB and bingo. My wife is a bingo nut, and used to play in town, in not so good neighborhoods, and $pend lot$ of money on it. With FB, she plays with her FB friends, it's free, has just as much fun, and is at home in her jammys. Win-win for all involved.

THIS IS WHY WE LOVE OLD FOLKS: A farmer stopped by the local mechanics shop to have his truck fixed. They couldn't do it while he waited, so he said he didn't live far and would just walk home.

On the way home he stopped at the hardware Store and bought a bucket and a gallon of paint. He then stopped by the feed store and picked up a couple of chickens and a goose. However, struggling outside the store he now had a problem - how to carry his entire purchases home..

While he was scratching his head he was approached by a little old lady who told him she was lost. She asked, 'Can you tell me how to get to 1603 Mockingbird Lane ?'

The farmer said, 'Well, as a matter of fact, my farm is very close to that house I would walk you there but I can't carry this lot.' The old lady suggested, 'Why don't you put the can of paint in the bucket.

Carry the bucket in one hand, put a chicken under each arm and carry the goose in your other hand?'

'Why thank you very much,' he said and proceeded to walk the old girl home.

On the way he says 'Let's take my short cut and go down this alley. We'll be there in no time.'

The little old lady looked him over cautiously then said, 'I am a lonely widow without a husband to defend me.. How do I know that when we get in the alley you won't hold me up against the wall, pull up my skirt, and have your way with me?'

The farmer said, 'Holy smokes lady! I'm carrying a bucket, a gallon of paint, two chickens, and a goose. How in the world could I possibly hold you up against the wall and do that?'

The old lady replied, 'Set the goose down, cover him with the bucket, put the paint on top of the bucket, and I'll hold the chickens.

Smart woman.

That reminds me of the very attractive young woman who ran out of gas in front of an elderly man's house. After he had obligingly siphoned gas out of his car, she batted her eyelashes and asked if there was anything, anything at all that she could do to repay him. He gave her a rag and bucket and told her to was the windows.

DeanT - Posted - 01/19/2013:  16:43:08

How does one was windows?

OM45GE - Posted - 01/19/2013:  17:42:49

Sorry, my keyboard doesn't 'ave any

DeanT - Posted - 01/19/2013:  20:05:31

Nice try!!! But in reviewing the rest of the post... there be lots of h's tongue

ErikH - Posted - 01/20/2013:  05:04:09

Maybe he lost it siphoning the gas out of the tank.

DeanT - Posted - 01/20/2013:  08:43:53

That's becoming vogue again... back to the days of locking gas caps :(

OM45GE - Posted - 01/20/2013:  10:08:06

Nothing like a big mouthful of gasoline to make the day seem a bit better.

DeanT - Posted - 01/20/2013:  17:13:35

I'd just be happy with whiskey

OM45GE - Posted - 01/21/2013:  00:43:43

Me too.

dat - Posted - 01/21/2013:  06:21:03

when I siphoned gas, I already had plenty of whiskey in me

ErikH - Posted - 01/21/2013:  06:30:22

I had a little hand pump so I didn't need to worry about tasting any gas.

Alaina - Posted - 01/21/2013:  08:36:08

Thankfully I have never tasted gas, and I hopefully never will.

dat - Posted - 01/21/2013:  09:35:57

not sumthin' you want to get a mouthfull of

DeanT - Posted - 01/21/2013:  09:42:03

Would the hand pump work with whiskey

dat - Posted - 01/21/2013:  10:55:41

I'll bet there was a time I would have figured out how to make it work

Alaina - Posted - 01/21/2013:  13:12:49

I don't doubt that!!!

dat - Posted - 01/21/2013:  14:41:30

now an ice water pump would be nice, water is about all I drink, water or unsweet ice tea

Alaina - Posted - 01/21/2013:  16:04:12

Not so much with the tea, but I definitely drink a lot of water

DeanT - Posted - 01/21/2013:  16:54:24

I drink more unsweet ice tea than water. I also drink 1/3 gallon of milk a day

ErikH - Posted - 01/22/2013:  02:19:20

Mostly water and  unsweetened Iced Tea for me, too.

OM45GE - Posted - 01/22/2013:  05:07:30

DeanT - Posted - 01/22/2013:  07:07:55

Why would it be so tempting to turn the water on full blast...?

dat - Posted - 01/22/2013:  07:17:40

when I was a kid we had a cat that would jump in the bathtub, that cat actually liked water

Alaina - Posted - 01/22/2013:  09:28:58

Nope, I'm with Dean. Let's turn the water on!!!

DeanT - Posted - 01/22/2013:  10:51:14

Our cats can stop in mid air, hover, reverse direction, and land on the dry floor running... if you try to throw them into the bathtub.

Alaina - Posted - 01/22/2013:  10:53:21

And for that reason, I am glad that my basset is like the typical male and food motivated. All I have to do is put a couple pieces of dogfood on the other side of the tub and he is in there so fast, it isn't even funny

dat - Posted - 01/22/2013:  10:58:14

good thing about dogs, water usually doesn't bother them

Alaina - Posted - 01/22/2013:  11:01:56

Oh he hates getting a bath, but by the time he eats the food and realizes where he is, he is doomed to suffer in the tub until he's clean and mostly dry haha
