I do too. I've seen him a bunch of times. He did a good show.

DeanT - Posted - 02/27/2017:  18:41:02

Love his version of Aint Miss Behavin!

OM45GE - Posted - 02/28/2017:  02:56:34

Yeah, I added that to my repertoire after hearing his version.

chuckv97 - Posted - 02/28/2017:  13:45:21

I've got that one and "Marie" on my iTunes list. He was one of the first to get me interested in the old songs that I used to think were for older folks. And he was a good fingerpicker. Steve Goodman also, and later Willie Nelson's "Stardust " album were great.

OM45GE - Posted - 02/28/2017:  14:05:15

I do my take on "Seduced" that I adapted from Leon's version.

Steve Goodman and Willie both do a lot of great covers of old tunes for sure. Van Morrison has some gems too.

DeanT - Posted - 02/28/2017:  17:03:54

I've gone to Willie concerts, and I'm blown away at his playing. Nothing like the recordings. I think his songs are always evolving.

OM45GE - Posted - 02/28/2017:  17:47:34

I've never seen him live.

DeanT - Posted - 02/28/2017:  18:54:58

He comes through Wichita every couple years

OM45GE - Posted - 03/01/2017:  02:49:52

Have you seen early photos of him clean shaven and short haired?

chuckv97 - Posted - 03/01/2017:  04:53:26

Yeah, when he was trying to go Nashville. Chet Atkins said he didn't know what to do with him because he back-phrased like a jazz singer.

OM45GE - Posted - 03/01/2017:  06:49:21

Interesting guy.

DeanT - Posted - 03/01/2017:  12:29:18

he had a stack of red bandannas, and he would wear one for each song, and then throw it out into the crowd.

OM45GE - Posted - 03/01/2017:  13:37:33

That's cool.

Did you hear about the Boston area 13 year old who went to a U2 concert with a sign that said "I play guitar"? Bono saw the sign and invited him up on stage and let him play with the band on Bono's guitar. Bono let him keep the guitar.

Now that's even better than Springsteen jamming with the kid who was skipping school!

OM45GE - Posted - 03/01/2017:  17:56:44

Yeah. That made his day for sure. I saw a new clip the next day. The kid was there with his father and I think the dad was just as excited as his son.

chuckv97 - Posted - 03/01/2017:  18:07:02

I was a real shy kid around adults, never mind famous ones. I would've been shaking in my boots.

DeanT - Posted - 03/01/2017:  18:19:57

I still would be!!!!

chuckv97 - Posted - 03/01/2017:  21:22:16

Absolutely, I'd turn back into a 12 year old

OM45GE - Posted - 03/02/2017:  03:23:27

For some reason I've never been nervous like that. I'm probably too stupid to know better.

DeanT - Posted - 03/02/2017:  06:59:23

I think the most popular musician I've ever met was Johnny Kay, but that was after the show. It was the next day at the gas station and they were heading out of town.

OM45GE - Posted - 03/02/2017:  16:26:02

I met Pete Seeger once.  He was very gracious.

chuckv97 - Posted - 03/02/2017:  20:53:50

I almost shook his hand. Then he looked me in the eye and I'll never forget what he said:

"stay the hell away from me" I think it was.

AND

I'm on Taylor Swift's Twitterfeed, we're very tight.

I got some personal e-mails from Taylor Swift's original banjo player. Yep, it was Banjo Ben from this site...

OM45GE - Posted - 03/03/2017:  02:55:21

Six degrees of separation!  Maybe you could network into a gig with Taylor.

I met Fergie Jenkins last Sunday at the Cubs vs. Indians game..,I was a bit jittery but mostly excited. Nice guy,,regular dude. He's from Ontario so we reminisced about "back home".

Now that's totally cool! I played little league with Milt Pappus's kid, and Milt came to some of the games when the Cubs were at home. I also got Thurman Munson's autograph on my glove, when he was with the White Sox, before he left for the Yankees. Fergie was one of my heros, we would all try to wind up our pitches like he did, when we were kids.

My brother in law has a place in Bar Harbor, Maine. There are a lot of wealthy people who summer there. There is a local store they often go to. Cell phone reception is spotty and the store has a sign saying there's no public phone because so many people ask to use theirs. My BIL was in there one day and Martha Stuart was there and asking to use the phone. She was told like everyone else that she could not. She got pretty huffy and was holding up the line. A guy behind her tapped her on the shoulder and suggested that she accept the fact that she couldn't use the phone. She turned on him and angrily asked. "Do you know who I am?" He replied, "Yes I do Martha, I'm David Rockefeller. Nice to meet you."

chuckv97 - Posted - 03/03/2017:  08:23:15

Haha,,,touché on Martha

DeanT - Posted - 03/03/2017:  11:56:30

That would keep folks from tweeting stupid stuff from there

OM45GE - Posted - 03/03/2017:  14:52:43

This was a few years ago. They've probably improved the cell access so the fools can tweet away.

DeanT - Posted - 03/03/2017:  15:36:36

I've never tweeted in my life, I've never even had a tweeter account.

chuckv97 - Posted - 03/03/2017:  17:54:29

Me neither. This forum, a bit of Facebook, and email is enough

DeanT - Posted - 03/03/2017:  19:30:44

Yep, BHO, Face Book, and a running forum for me. Oh yeah, and Banjo Holler too. My wife is on instigram and she says it's like getting sucked into a black hole

OM45GE - Posted - 03/04/2017:  03:57:07

I do the Acoustic Guitar Forum. It's not as much fun as the BHO, but not bad.  No Twitter and no desire to have it.

I have to have Facebook because of my job, but I don't like it and may drop it when I retire in 257 days and 10 hours (but who's counting?).

DeanT - Posted - 03/04/2017:  07:04:40

I do a lot of blocking and deleting on facebook...

chuckv97 - Posted - 03/04/2017:  08:31:11

I sometimes post on "Old Banjo Pickers" or "Banjo Players United". It also connects me with cousins I hardly know.

OM45GE - Posted - 03/04/2017:  09:45:30

Some of my family are the biggest pests on my friends list.

DeanT - Posted - 03/04/2017:  12:40:55

or old co-workers...

OM45GE - Posted - 03/04/2017:  17:44:53

One of my exes is a FB friend.

chuckv97 - Posted - 03/04/2017:  18:50:59

One of my old flame's hubby blocked out everyone except the ones on their friends list. I guess my pic came up on the "people you might know" line. lol

DeanT - Posted - 03/04/2017:  19:06:51

I deleted my entire first FB account because one of my x's stalked it. That was before they made the security setting much better

OM45GE - Posted - 03/04/2017:  21:25:15

I just find the crap to good ratio is way off.

DeanT - Posted - 03/05/2017:  07:09:18

once I got things cleaned out, it's not so bad now.

chuckv97 - Posted - 03/05/2017:  07:13:31

How did you delete it,Dean? I heard it's not easy to do.

DeanT - Posted - 03/05/2017:  10:16:27

I could never remember how it was done, that was back in 2008. I do remember it took several steps and was not easy to find back then. I didn't get back on FB until 2012. Now I'm very quick to delete block and unfriend, and it keeps things manageable.

OM45GE - Posted - 03/05/2017:  13:44:00

I do a lot of ignoring.

DeanT - Posted - 03/06/2017:  10:42:30

yep, I go off my notifications, and don't pay much attention to my news feed anymore

OM45GE - Posted - 03/06/2017:  11:27:20

Reading some of the posts makes me despair about our species.

chuckv97 - Posted - 03/06/2017:  11:52:39

Worse than a lot of CB talk
