ha ha, the game warden that checked me when I had the all the extra ducks stuffed in my waders just came in the shop for his wife's tahoe, he is retired now, but I still didn't say anything to him about it.

Alaina - Posted - 11/15/2012:  13:29:58

Did you at least have your other, LEGAL, ducks in a row?

mbanjo - Posted - 11/15/2012:  13:59:51

I don't know, that one in the back looks kinda shady...

mbanjo - Posted - 11/15/2012:  14:46:13

I never noticed that one

Alaina - Posted - 11/15/2012:  14:49:00

He's trying to hide behind another one to avoid getting counted

dat - Posted - 11/15/2012:  15:03:05

that's where you start shooting, shoot the back first then start working towards the front, if you shoot the front first, they scatter

Alaina - Posted - 11/15/2012:  15:07:48

Good to know!

mbanjo - Posted - 11/15/2012:  15:09:12

Isn't there usually an attendant or someone standing there?   maybe they got shot first dead

Alaina - Posted - 11/15/2012:  15:11:09

Oh the poor attendant... I feel bad frown

OM45GE - Posted - 11/15/2012:  17:15:11

Hopefully they were advised of the risks before accepting the job. big

mbanjo - Posted - 11/15/2012:  22:36:20

Evidently they were fully trained and authorised to shoot back if necessary....

Question:

What is the weather like in America lately........normal  or abnormal?

we are getting some crappy weather here in Australia at the moment ....not at all normal for this time of year.

Alaina - Posted - 11/16/2012:  13:44:36

It's stupidly nice here. It's honestly not normal, like last year it was actually 50s and rainy. Now it's 74 and the sun is shining. I hate it.

dat - Posted - 11/16/2012:  13:47:06

pretty normal here, mid to low 30's at night, mid 70's in the daytime, just right for the fall

No it isn't. Fall is supposed to be mid to low 50's during the day and low 30's at night. The leaves are supposed to be falling or already fallen. It is supposed to be slightly overcast and chilly to the point that you can't go outside without seeing your breath. I. Hate. California. In. The. "Fall". And. "Winter".

around this area, winter is mid 50's in the daytime and low 30's at night, we'll just get a week or two of below 50 in the daytime

Alaina - Posted - 11/16/2012:  13:56:40

Hence why I am a Midwestern at heart

dat - Posted - 11/16/2012:  13:59:02

leaves are changing from green to brown to falling, the scattered sweetgum trees have a little yellow, not real colorful around the fall here

Alaina - Posted - 11/16/2012:  14:33:14

I miss fall...

mbanjo - Posted - 11/16/2012:  17:43:48

When Autumn leaves drift by your window?

DeanT - Posted - 11/16/2012:  17:58:47

Kansas forgot was fall and winter was last year. I hope this year isn't a repeat. I love cold snow and ice.

OM45GE - Posted - 11/17/2012:  03:42:29

I'm hoping for lots of snow for skiing. There was a disturbing report by a local biologic research station (it's a big nature preserve that's been tracking weather data for over a hundred years) about how the snow is coming later, melting sooner, ice in and out is doing the same along with a host of similar changes. It's a little scary.

DeanT - Posted - 11/17/2012:  05:29:52

We had a day in the 80's last week, and it didn't get lower than 70 all night. That's NOT November :(

OM45GE - Posted - 11/17/2012:  05:52:28

Last year we got a big snowstorm around Halloween and then nothing the rest of the year. It was cold enough up north that they could make snow but there wasn't almost no natural snow cover. It was odd coming down runs on six feet of made-made snow and look over in the woods and see bare ground.

DeanT - Posted - 11/17/2012:  18:25:27

I've never snow skied in my entire life. Prolly a good thing....

Our winter was like that, too.  Well, not cold.  But we got the snow in October and then the rest of the winter was a wash.  We don't normally get much snow during the winter (well except for snowpocalypse a couple years ago) but usually we get some.  And the cold is what stimulates all the trees and plants and stuff.  And it was too warm.  And then there was a cold snap right when we should have been warm.

And then the drought over the summer was wicked.  We didn't have it as bad as some places.  But the place where I have my horse they normally grow their own hay.  They got a decent first cutting but nothing after that.  Usually two to three cuttings is pretty normal.  They're gonna have to buy hay from somewhere to make it through the winter.

OM45GE - Posted - 11/18/2012:  16:34:04

It may be a good thing as it can be addictive because most of the places you do it at are beautiful and it's so much fun and it gets kind of expensive, but I do love it.

DeanT - Posted - 11/18/2012:  16:53:40

For me it would be a matter of not killing myself... something I tend to be good at...

Kansas trees are totally confused... last year they were budding in January

OM45GE - Posted - 11/19/2012:  02:44:02

We've had problems with fruit trees budding out early and then having the buds killed when it got cold again. We know one couple who lost 80% of their apple crop this year.

dat - Posted - 11/19/2012:  06:11:40

my apple trees had apples for the first time last year, they didn't get much bigger than a golf ball before the squirrels stripped the trees clean.   they were still nice to see grow

DeanT - Posted - 11/19/2012:  06:54:02

Same thing happened with the pear tree in our back yard

OM45GE - Posted - 11/19/2012:  07:04:46

Yup, weird stuff gong on with the weather.

dat - Posted - 11/19/2012:  07:30:06

I think it's the democrats that cause the weather to mess up

OM45GE - Posted - 11/19/2012:  08:44:11

I refuse to take the blame.

Alaina - Posted - 11/19/2012:  09:14:59

At least I know you aren't blaming me!

dat - Posted - 11/19/2012:  09:36:14

anybody traveling for thanksgiving? or staying home, we're staying home

Alaina - Posted - 11/19/2012:  09:39:38

I'm traveling a couple blocks to a friend's house. Does that count?

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 11/19/2012:  09:46:48

No traveling for me. I might not even bother with a shower or getting dressed.
