I shave the back of my neck. I don't like that growing wild.

dat - Posted - 06/10/2016:  12:50:32

I always think of Earnest T Bass when he was looking for a wife and got a hair cut and had his neck shaved too

OM45GE - Posted - 06/11/2016:  05:31:37

I started when a girlfriend liked the back of my neck after I got a haircut and the barber had shaved it. I wanted to keep that lovin' feelin'

Better "necking" on lover's lane

OM45GE - Posted - 06/11/2016:  05:45:42

Were you spying on us?

DeanT - Posted - 06/11/2016:  06:39:39

The one time we went to lovers lane, the cops showed up and sent us home. So it was back to the heyloft...

OM45GE - Posted - 06/11/2016:  12:23:10

They had no sense of humor or romance.

DeanT - Posted - 06/11/2016:  16:33:39

probably a good thing they didn't have body cams then either...

OM45GE - Posted - 06/11/2016:  17:23:32

These days a video probably would end up on the Internet.

chuckv97 - Posted - 06/11/2016:  18:01:08

They've put a cam in our truck cabs now, with lenses pointing outside and inside ....I hate it. It's only supposed to record anything if there's an incident, but I don't believe that. It's constantly on, I figure.

dmiller - Posted - 06/11/2016:  18:44:11

Put a piece of duct tape over the inside cam, and you'll find out soon enough!  big

DeanT - Posted - 06/11/2016:  20:34:15

Murphy's law says as soon as you put tape on the camera, you get in a crash

chuckv97 - Posted - 06/11/2016:  20:40:01

I did that for a day,,then I heard a guy was hauled on the carpet for doing it.

dmiller - Posted - 06/11/2016:  21:22:19

There ya go.  Its "live all the time".

DeanT - Posted - 06/12/2016:  06:27:05

cameras cameras everywhere. I see them at every in intersection now. How come surveillance cameras are always so grainy, and you can never see the bad guy very well, but cell phones and go-pros are crystal clear

OM45GE - Posted - 06/12/2016:  07:31:32

I think some people or too busy videoing their lives to actually enjoy them.

dmiller - Posted - 06/12/2016:  10:19:20

There are a LOT of cameras around town here too at many intersections.

I've wondered where are the video screens, and who is watching them?

chuckv97 - Posted - 06/12/2016:  10:34:54

I went through a small Indian Reserve in northern Ontario last month, inadvertently 10 miles over the speed limit, but no cop around, no ticket. The next day I got a message from our safety dept. letting me know that a cam had recorded me. There ain't no hiding place,,,,Orwell's 1984 ...

soon we will be in self driving cars that will be programmed to always go the speed limit...

OM45GE - Posted - 06/13/2016:  03:21:00

Remember "I Can't Drive 55"?

DeanT - Posted - 06/13/2016:  05:06:49

Sammy Hagar!

OM45GE - Posted - 06/13/2016:  05:58:22

Indeed

dat - Posted - 06/13/2016:  06:17:42

55 seems to be just barely moving, Texas speed limit is 75, then you cross the border to Arkansas or Louisiana and it drops to 55, it seems like you come to a stop

OM45GE - Posted - 06/13/2016:  09:43:48

It's 65 most places around here with a few 70's up north. That said, outside of rush hour, traffic is moving closer to 75 and often much faster.

DeanT - Posted - 06/13/2016:  09:55:21

yep, 75 here no matter what the signs say...

dmiller - Posted - 06/13/2016:  10:48:17

A coupla three years ago, I was coming back to Minney-soda from visiting family in Indiana and the Wisconsin State Patrol had set up a "sting operation" (radar trap) right around the Baraboo Wisconsin area. They had (as I found out the hard way) 10 laser speed detectors set up on an overpass there on I90/ 94 clocking all the traffic going underneath.  I had a cheap radar detector in the car then, and it went off when I was in range of the speed trap.  I slowed down considerably, but didn't see any police anywhere in the area so I figured I was safe.  About 1 mile later - - that all changed.

I crested the next hill there on the interstate, and there on each side of the high way were 6 or 7 State Patrol cars ready to pull over offenders (me included).  One of those 14 cars pulled out after me, and seeing blue flashing lights behind me I pulled over.  He told me I was clocked doing 87 mph in a 65 mph zone.  I told him I was just "keeping up with traffic".  He told me I was "running with the wrong crowd".  I tried to look "remorseful" and said "Yes sir, I think you're right".  Long story short - - it cost me $275 for going 22 mph over the speed limit that day.  Wisconsin now has a 70 mph speed limit on their inter-state highways and the police don't hang around hiding like vultures anymore to ticket those who are going too fast, like they used to.

dat - Posted - 06/13/2016:  13:09:57

around here when the speed limit was 70, they would usually let you get by with 75 or so with just a warning, now that it's 75, if you go 77 you are getting a ticket

OM45GE - Posted - 06/13/2016:  13:14:44

I used to have a Jaguar XKE. I was out for a drive with the top down around 2:00 AM on a lovely summer night. I was doing about 70 in a 30 mph zone when a policeman came over the crest of a hill and got me with instant on radar. I pulled over and shut the engine down. He was on the other side of the hill but I could hear him spinning his tires as he did a three point turn. He came flying back over the hill and was surprised to see me sitting there and had to lock them up to come in behind me.

When he got to my car I couldn't believe it when he thanked me for stopping. He said he had a rookie in the car with him and had told the rookie they would never be able to catch me. I told him the Jag was fast but couldn't out run his radio. He checked out my license and saw that I was a trailer driver with a perfect driving record. He came back and told me to slow it down. I didn't even get a written warning. He had me show him the engine and rev it up for him before I left.

DeanT - Posted - 06/13/2016:  13:58:31

I guess I've been lucky... I've never had good enough cars to go fast. My only ticked was a DUI, and I didn't go to jail, because the cop didn't want blood all over his car. I kissed the steering wheel and split my lip wide open and went to the ER instead for 12 stitches. The judge made me pay for the guard rail I destroyed. And my Dodge Polara was totaled.

dat - Posted - 06/13/2016:  14:37:04

I was more likely to run off in a ditch on a dirt road or get stuck in the woods

chuckv97 - Posted - 06/13/2016:  16:23:42

I got 3 DUI's in a space of 5 years, just wouldn't learn. One of'em was driving home from a gig with my duo partner, doing 25 mph at 2:30 in the morning. This after he had lost his licence for DUI's. Our other mando buddy used to say the band had to break up because no one had a licence anymore.

OM45GE - Posted - 06/14/2016:  03:35:05

It would be embarrassing to have to hitchhike to gigs.

Time to hire a tour bus and driver

OM45GE - Posted - 06/14/2016:  05:25:19

I spent a few hours in a truck stop with a tour bus driver who was driving The Ramones on tour. He had some interesting stories.

dat - Posted - 06/14/2016:  06:22:59

I had to look them up to see who they were, I had heard the name, but didn't know any songs

I'll bet that was some wild times

It's funny, I thought the same thing, but he said they were really quiet and polite. I met them in the truck stop store and they seemed like nice guys.

The driver said one of his worst groups was a well known country band with a strong Christian affiliation. He wouldn't say who but they were apparently boozing and fighting the whole time. He said one of the lead musicians got off the bus in the middle of nowhere and quit the tour.

DeanT - Posted - 06/14/2016:  10:48:04

I met Johnny Kay and Steppenwolf at a gas station the morning after a concert in our city. They were all pretty hungover.

A girl I dated in high school was walking with a friend down at Hampton Beach late one Saturday when a van pulled up and asked them if they wanted to go to a party. It turned out to be Janis Joplin and the entire Big Brother band. They had just finished a show at the Casino.

chuckv97 - Posted - 06/14/2016:  13:10:44

Janis had a definite party addiction

OM45GE - Posted - 06/14/2016:  13:23:10

They had an incredible time. It made anything I could come up with for entertainment seem pretty paltry.

dat - Posted - 06/14/2016:  14:36:04

we used to party pretty well, but we had to figure out how to make it to work the next monday and function

DeanT - Posted - 06/14/2016:  16:54:28

Just glad to have survived...

chuckv97 - Posted - 06/14/2016:  18:22:48

Yeah, except for that tic and my fear of crows....

DeanT - Posted - 06/14/2016:  19:22:48

I have the scar on my lip (people honestly mistake it for a hair lip) from the DUI crash, to remind me every time I look in the mirror

I often didn't.

when I was working in construction, we stayed out pretty late one night, I knew if I went home that I wouldn't wake up in time, so I went to the job site (about 3 in the morning)  when I ran out of beer and laid down on the scaffolding I was going to be working on the next day, my boss woke me up when he got there,  I was on time that day

DeanT - Posted - 06/15/2016:  06:03:40

I've done that!!!

OM45GE - Posted - 06/15/2016:  06:54:17

Now that's thinking ahead!

dmiller - Posted - 06/15/2016:  08:02:57

Just don't "toss and turn in bed" there on the scaffold!

dat - Posted - 06/15/2016:  09:02:55

We worked from 6:30 to 3:00.  getting off at three, I had plenty of time in the afternoon to enjoy life after work
