dat - Posted - 02/28/2012:  09:10:27

DeanT - Posted - 02/28/2012:  09:20:51

dat - Posted - 02/28/2012:  09:25:17

DeanT - Posted - 02/28/2012:  13:48:18

In Kansas I would need my dogs to pull it

dat - Posted - 02/28/2012:  14:11:06

They might even enjoy that

If I could get them to work together!

OM45GE - Posted - 02/29/2012:  04:27:43

I definitely see an injury with that device.

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 02/29/2012:  06:24:19

Good morning.

Man I'm busy these days. Some people have finally learned my name and I've gotten sucked into a whole bunch of meetings that keep me away from my computer and generally being productive.

dat - Posted - 02/29/2012:  08:05:19

I was starting to think you and the taco bell drive through operation specialist  runnoft  to somewhere togeather

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 02/29/2012:  08:22:08

Man, I haven't been to Taco Bell in awhile. Just haven't had the urge.

DeanT - Posted - 02/29/2012:  09:26:40

Taco Bell needs to bring back that little Chihuahua dog.

dat - Posted - 02/29/2012:  10:30:42

I think I'll go to the jalapeno tree for dinner today, I still have some money left on a gift card.... free lunch

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 02/29/2012:  11:04:56

There's a place near where I live that I think looks interesting but I've never quite had the guts to go there on my own. Looks kind of like a texmex kind of place.

dat - Posted - 02/29/2012:  11:53:14

there are some places around here I haven't tried that are all mexican, no tex top them. some of them I have and weren't bad, I just don't speak Spanish and when you go in, they don't speak English very well.      pretty good food though

I didn't even know they printed our city's news paper in Spanish... until I saw it in an authentic Mexican restaurant. $7.50 for an authentic bretto... and my wife and I split it and can barely finish it. We go back every Tuesday night...

OM45GE - Posted - 03/01/2012:  02:56:50

Way here in Yankee land, we have an incredible authentic Mexican Restaurant - Cafe Azteca. Best Mexican cooking I've had outside of Mexico and better than most I've IN Mexico!

OM45GE - Posted - 03/01/2012:  06:18:49

We'll their service isn't as fast.

DeanT - Posted - 03/01/2012:  07:00:42

frozen beretos from Wal-Mart are as good as taco bell

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 03/01/2012:  09:31:35

I've only been to Walmart a handful of times. Like maybe six times. At least three of those were to buy yarn.

OM45GE - Posted - 03/01/2012:  09:38:25

We used to have three really good fabric and sewing goods stores around here - including a Waverly outlet. They've all gone out of business and Walmart is about all that's left. The quality isn't near as good and the selection is pretty poor.

dat - Posted - 03/01/2012:  09:51:27

there aren't any fabric stores around here any more, Hancocks shut down, I don't even think wal mart has a fabric section anymore

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 03/01/2012:  11:12:35

When I lived down in Virginia there were several decent craft stores and fabric stores within a few miles of me. Where I live in Maryland there's a whole bunch of Michaels, basically with all the same stuff, and one really pathetic Joanns (that's grimy and dirty). Oh, and maybe a Hancocks (also grimy and dirty).

I find it kind of stunning how bad the selection of craft stuff is around here.

Walmart didn't necessarily have a greet selection of stuff but they did have the colors I needed for a project. Plus I wanted to try spinning with fishing line at one point, and they had that, too.

DeanT - Posted - 03/01/2012:  11:24:25

We have two Hobbylobbys, a Micheals, two Joannes, and 8 Wal-Marts

Spinning with fishing line - dare I ask?

dat - Posted - 03/01/2012:  11:52:10

DARE, DARE

OM45GE - Posted - 03/01/2012:  13:53:30

OK, What are you spinning with fishing line - and why?

DeanT - Posted - 03/01/2012:  14:21:51

well it sure aint a yarn....

dat - Posted - 03/01/2012:  14:43:51

leave it to 'Niffer to go out spinning yarns

OM45GE - Posted - 03/02/2012:  04:20:19

Maybe it's a scarf for fish?

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 03/02/2012:  07:15:04

I wanted to spin some yarn with beads. So I spun one ply that was just a wool and then I put the beads on the fishing line and I plied the two together.

Fishing line doesn't spin real well, though, and the yarn ended up being kind of kinked. I might be able to do it if I spun the fishing line one direction first and then plied it going the other direction, so that it wouldn't have any twist in the final yarn. But what I got wasn't really what I wanted.

I don't think I have any pictures, though. I actually almost immediately started knitting something with it--just an experiment really. I figured I'd already ruined the yarn I could do something stupid with it if I wanted. But then I got kind of fed up with the whole thing and it got packed into a box somewhere.

I did manage to spin some very pretty yarn with beads using a different thread. But for this yarn I had wanted something that wouldn't be visible, hence the fishing line.

dat - Posted - 03/02/2012:  07:25:28

turn your spool of line over after it has pulled off a couple of rounds, when you turn the spool over and a couple of rounds come off again the opposite side it will take out the twists that were put in as it pulled off

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 03/02/2012:  07:36:10

Actually I what I needed to do was the opposite--put twist into it as I was pulling it off the spool so that when I spun it I was taking that twist out.

But that's a good point.

DeanT - Posted - 03/02/2012:  07:50:37

Is this why the yarn shop my wife shops at is named Twist?

OM45GE - Posted - 03/02/2012:  09:06:14

Very creative sounding!

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 03/02/2012:  12:56:22

I'm trying to expand my horizons in my spinning and start to do some new and different things.

Hemp yarn?

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 03/02/2012:  13:59:50

I have some hemp blended with something else. That one's going to be very challenging.

No worries.  It wasn't annoying so much as disappointing.  "Look!  I got email!  From Flake!  Dude, that's not email.  That's spam."  And then I cried.

Okay maybe not.
