There's fog banks been rolling in from the lakes in Toronto, Chicago, and now Duluth the past few days. It's been an issue with high fly balls at Skydome and Wrigley Field yesterday. Hope the weather clears for the air show, dmiller.

dmiller - Posted - 08/23/2014:  23:07:20

Yes.  I hope so, and so do thousands of others.  It wasn't fun to see so many folks (some of whom had traveled a long way) leaving without being able to see the air-show they came to watch.

I wish the Snowbirds would come to Kansas!

OM45GE - Posted - 08/24/2014:  10:56:03

They must have incredible stereos for you to be able to hear the music over the engines.

dmiller - Posted - 08/24/2014:  13:29:14

The Snowbirds came to town a few years ago, and did a free show for us here in town.  They did their show out over Lake Superior so everyone in town and folks over in Wisconsin could easily watch.

dmiller - Posted - 08/24/2014:  13:38:39

Looking through YouTube - - I think the following is a video of that show they did here then.  The year 2008 seems about right.

Amazing stuff.

Makes my heart pound

OM45GE - Posted - 08/25/2014:  03:53:45

I don't think I could walk with eight other guys in a formation like that and not bump into them.

Last weekend I was in a bike race and it was like riding in formation at 25 mph...

OM45GE - Posted - 08/25/2014:  06:06:27

Yeah, I've seen them crash too. cool

My sister was riding on the luggage rack on the back fender, barefoot no less, and caught her heel in the back spokes. Lots of blood and tears.

dat - Posted - 08/25/2014:  15:27:55

I wore out several bicycles and many sets of tires,  I don't think kids now ride them enough to wear out tires, they outgrow them and get a bigger one without wearing the old one out

DeanT - Posted - 08/25/2014:  15:53:29

I'm still wearing out tires...

OM45GE - Posted - 08/25/2014:  16:15:27

Nice ink

DeanT - Posted - 08/25/2014:  17:53:27

Thanks, I've got 34 tattoos, but they have aged quite a bit in the sun over the years. I got my last one over 25 years ago

OM45GE - Posted - 08/26/2014:  05:46:36

I've only got a couple. Nothing so elaborate. Last one was about the same time frame as yours. I'm still toying with getting a few more. I have one I got when my dad died and have wanted one for my Mom who passed a few years ago.

DeanT - Posted - 08/26/2014:  05:49:38

When I was getting them, they still had some shock value. Not anymore...

OM45GE - Posted - 08/26/2014:  05:57:03

Although, I've seen some shocking ink.

dat - Posted - 08/26/2014:  09:53:49

just got this in an e mail

Having a cold drink on hot day with a few friends is nice, but having a

hot friend on a cold night after a few drinks - PRICELESS.

dat - Posted - 08/26/2014:  09:54:52

well, actually this was the whole thing

 FIVE UNSHAKABLE FACTS

1. A girl is said to be grown up when she starts wearing a bra.

A boy is grown up when he starts removing it.

2. We all love to spend lots of money buying new clothes, but we never

realize that the best moments in life are enjoyed without clothes.

3. Having a cold drink on hot day with a few friends is nice, but having a

hot friend on a cold night after a few drinks - PRICELESS.

4. Breaking News: Condoms don't guarantee safe sex anymore. A friend of mine

was wearing one when he was shot dead by the woman's husband.

5. Arguing over a girl's bust size is like choosing between Coors, Fosters,

Carlsberg and Budweiser. Men may state their preferences, but will grab whatever is available.

DeanT - Posted - 08/26/2014:  10:12:21

What if I prefer whiskey?

dat - Posted - 08/26/2014:  10:54:23

I used to work with a guy that kept a bottle of wild turkey on the dash of his truck,  he was a pretty bad drunk but a good brick layer,  he drank the wild turkey hot.   he would take a shot when he first got to work then several during the morning, he worked better and better later through the day

OM45GE - Posted - 08/26/2014:  11:53:46

I did some of my best work, and music playing, drunk. That is, until I sobered up and got to see what I had done.

chuckv97 - Posted - 08/26/2014:  14:20:47

I was a legend in my mind when I was drunk

OM45GE - Posted - 08/26/2014:  14:31:18

I think I was.

chuckv97 - Posted - 08/26/2014:  14:47:26

Not as legendary as ME!

OM45GE - Posted - 08/26/2014:  16:21:59

But were you as good looking, suave with the women and strong as I was?

DeanT - Posted - 08/26/2014:  16:56:52

I used to keep whiskey in a bicycle water bottle... thinking no one could smell it. I really sucked playing music drunk, because I no longer cared to play. I just wanted more booze.

chuckv97 - Posted - 08/26/2014:  19:14:37

Yeah,I used to go through the motions,,same tunes,,same worn out licks every night. Got drunk and kicked over the mic stand at the end of a set. Told the bass player to tape the cords down onto the floor better.......sheesh,,embarrassing ....lol

DeanT - Posted - 08/26/2014:  22:45:05

I quit in 1991. I can still remember it like it was yesterday.

OM45GE - Posted - 08/27/2014:  04:05:45

The last rock band I was in used to get completely destroyed before we play on whatever we had. Someone taped a 20 minute solo I did to Light My Fire. I thought I was rocking the world when I was playing. Then I heard the tape.....

DeanT - Posted - 08/27/2014:  05:52:50

The people listening are just as smashed...

OM45GE - Posted - 08/27/2014:  05:58:56

Good point.

I won't have anything at all to drink if I'm playing for someone now. If I have a glass of wine or a beer with dinner and then play, there is a noticeable change for the worse in my playing. Maybe if I drank more I wouldn't notice.

DeanT - Posted - 08/27/2014:  10:05:07

It's fun being sober and playing for a smashed audience especially when they get to dancing

dat - Posted - 08/27/2014:  10:16:36

that reminds me of the few times that I have finally gotten on the dance floor, it took quite a few drinks to get me out there

OM45GE - Posted - 08/27/2014:  10:55:03

Funny visuals to all that.

chuckv97 - Posted - 08/27/2014:  11:27:52

My nephew had a polka band for his wedding reception back in the '80's. I was loaded and got up to dance with my hot-looking sister-in-law ( I hardly ever dance either). Must've stepped on her feet 10 times, whirling around the dance floor. Then I put a bottle of wine inside my jacket as they were closing down- my brother tried to get my keys but I gave him the slip. Don't remember driving home. Whew!

DeanT - Posted - 08/27/2014:  18:37:30

I've woke up plenty of times, and go to the garage to see if my car was there, and in one piece. Scares the crap out of me to even think about it now.

OM45GE - Posted - 08/28/2014:  02:54:17

I think I told you about a guy who worked for me who left a bar hammered in a snowstorm and didn't bother to clear off the windows other than turning on the wipers. He had to back out of the parking space so he opened the door to see where he was going. He was parked next to a lamppost and tore the door off and never noticed until he went to get in the car at home the next day.

DeanT - Posted - 08/28/2014:  05:49:32

Snowstorms made things even worse... I don't know how we did it.

dat - Posted - 08/28/2014:  06:22:51

many a time everybody else on the road with me were lucky to have made it home safe

OM45GE - Posted - 08/28/2014:  06:53:17

You said it.

I rode my Harley home once but I don't remember how. I woke up on my driveway next to the bike.

dat - Posted - 08/28/2014:  07:22:42

a friend of mine said he had "an allergic reaction"  to a motorcycle and a bottle of jim beam,   to this day you can't get him around either one

DeanT - Posted - 08/28/2014:  08:59:28

I bought our city a pretty new guard rail because of Jim Beam
