Nope, he's cars. I have no idea what he runs... looks like a rail dragster. His crew left for the flats a couple days ago. He runs a pet supply company, which finances his cars. He was a big drag car designer in the 60's... I think he was involved in the rear engine rails back then.

It's actually sort of seasonal. The flats flood in the spring and don't dry out until summer. The evaporating water leaves the hard level surface. The slat flats are shrinking as well. They're 1/3 the size they were when discovered.

I had to look that up, but they do. probably a good thing they do it at different times, you wouldn't want to be driving your motor skooter at 200 mph and have a rocket land in front of you

one of these days our neighbors cat is going to be in our backyard at the wrong time. Last time a rabbit tried that, it was amazing. it was all over in a matter of seconds.

We are overrun with rabbits, in spite of a healthy coyote population. Toby chases them, but hasn't quite been able to catch one. It's funny to see him running flat out and the rabbit put on a last burst of speed to get away.
The greyhounds must be fun to watch. They've got the speed to get it done.

Greyhounds can be up to 45 mph in 3 strides. In our back yard, they are out the back door and the rabbit is done before it gets one step off. Google lure coursing, and watch some videos... they are amazing.

Rick Perry has been our governor for a while here, he may not be the most eloquent speaker and gets kinda flustered in front of the media sometimes, but over all he has done good things in Texas
