So far Toby will go as long as I will and sometimes he's clearly not ready to head for home.

DeanT - Posted - 12/18/2016:  12:44:44

I've recently been looking for a young dog to breath some life into our pack, and be a running partner.

OM45GE - Posted - 12/18/2016:  13:53:00

Another greyhound?

DeanT - Posted - 12/18/2016:  15:23:21

Possibly, in fact we have dibs on a new foster after Christmas. I've also been thinking about a rescue from the shelter. One of my running friends got a pittbull mix, and that dog has become his ultimate running partner. The dog runs ultra marathons with him, sometimes 50 miles or more.

OM45GE - Posted - 12/18/2016:  17:49:39

I have a runner friend with an English Bulldog. About a block is his limit. She loves him anyway.

DeanT - Posted - 12/19/2016:  02:59:16

I have a Shih-Tzu that might give the English Bulldog some competition...

OM45GE - Posted - 12/19/2016:  03:40:12

My friend says she's taking Butch for a drag.

chuckv97 - Posted - 12/19/2016:  04:44:15

😆

OM45GE - Posted - 12/19/2016:  05:11:02

He can be such a loaf too. If he gets tired of walking he will just sit down. She can either carry him home or wait for him to get in the mood.

chuckv97 - Posted - 12/19/2016:  07:47:04

Sounds like my ex-wife

OM45GE - Posted - 12/19/2016:  10:03:03

LOL, mine too.

DeanT - Posted - 12/19/2016:  10:03:26

I'd had a few of those. But my dogs were much better

OM45GE - Posted - 12/19/2016:  10:17:15

Yup

chuckv97 - Posted - 12/19/2016:  10:22:52

Man's bestest friend

OM45GE - Posted - 12/19/2016:  11:48:04

Toby is good company.

DeanT - Posted - 12/19/2016:  14:28:26

My lovely bride (my 4th try) was the first woman that loved my dogs as much as me. 16 years and counting...

chuckv97 - Posted - 12/19/2016:  15:04:48

I took my daughter's dog Cash for a walk today,,weather got milder last night.

DeanT - Posted - 12/19/2016:  16:51:07

That's a good looking dog!

chuckv97 - Posted - 12/19/2016:  17:16:57

He's gentle and easy going, but he also likes it when I rough house with him. He gets to barking and growling,,actually looks pretty vicious then but never bites.

OM45GE - Posted - 12/20/2016:  02:55:45

I bet he likes having you around.

DeanT - Posted - 12/20/2016:  05:30:03

He looks like he could be very protective if bad guys came around

OM45GE - Posted - 12/20/2016:  07:57:21

The way Toby barks you would think we had a killer Rottwieler in the house. The biggest danger is that he would lick them into submission.

chuckv97 - Posted - 12/20/2016:  07:59:51

Same with Cash

OM45GE - Posted - 12/20/2016:  08:05:31

He has some people that he's so happy to see I keep thinking his tail is going to fly off. Others, not so much.

DeanT - Posted - 12/20/2016:  10:35:00

our greyhounds would sleep through all of that...

OM45GE - Posted - 12/20/2016:  10:59:05

When someone he really likes comes in, Toby runs off and grabs a shoe. He then runs around growling and throwing it and staying just out of reach. I wonder what is going on in his head when he does that.

chuckv97 - Posted - 12/20/2016:  11:35:50

Cash does that with a toy bone if I look at him ,then make a sudden quick move

OM45GE - Posted - 12/20/2016:  12:34:27

Dogs sure are funny beasts. Toby also likes to carry a big (2+ feet long) stick around. He's got quite a reputation around town. If he doesn't have a stick with him, cars will stop and ask me where it is.

DeanT - Posted - 12/20/2016:  17:15:56

and in the meantime, my greyhounds are still sound asleep....

OM45GE - Posted - 12/21/2016:  02:50:59

As is Toby. We did our first three miles, had breakfast and now he's out like a light.

DeanT - Posted - 12/21/2016:  02:59:50

It's been a few years since the greyhounds made 3 miles!

chuckv97 - Posted - 12/21/2016:  04:39:43

Or me

OM45GE - Posted - 12/21/2016:  06:40:23

We generally do five to ten miles a day, broken into four walks. We start out with a longer one and then a mile or two each time after that.

chuckv97 - Posted - 12/21/2016:  09:42:46

Good going. You must get up early for that.

OM45GE - Posted - 12/21/2016:  10:24:07

I usually get up by 4:00 AM and go for an hour or so.

DeanT - Posted - 12/21/2016:  10:27:10

Or they get you up!

OM45GE - Posted - 12/21/2016:  10:28:08

Usually Toby is still cutting Z's when I get up. He wakes up when he hears me in the bathroom.

DeanT - Posted - 12/21/2016:  13:54:59

our dogs get us up by 6 am for breakfast. If we want to sleep in, we have to get up and feed them first....

chuckv97 - Posted - 12/21/2016:  14:14:52

Jerry the cat rules the house here....he hogs the dog's bed and Cash doesn't like getting clawed...lol

OM45GE - Posted - 12/21/2016:  16:12:38

I can't remember the last time I was still asleep at 6:00 AM.

DeanT - Posted - 12/21/2016:  16:44:26

I'm usually up by 5am, but it seems like every 8-10 days I need one sleep in day... and will crash out until about 9am... after feeding the dogs and letting them out...

chuckv97 - Posted - 12/21/2016:  17:03:20

I eventually turn into a nighthawk when off work..staying up later and sleeping in longer.

OM45GE - Posted - 12/21/2016:  17:22:05

I'm usually asleep by 10:00. Six hours of sleep is about it for me. If I was going to sleep until 9:00, I would have to rack out around 3:00 - I'm sometimes getting up at 3:00! cool

chuckv97 - Posted - 12/21/2016:  17:27:06

I often wake up for a couple of hours in the middle of the night. Due to driving truck and being in four time zones. I have no set sleep routine.

DeanT - Posted - 12/21/2016:  18:31:06

I like 8 hours of sleep, but 7 works ok. Too many 6 hour nights of sleep, and I set my self up for a 11-12 hour night of sleep... and then I reset and start all over.

OM45GE - Posted - 12/22/2016:  02:43:15

I've slept 12 hours after shoulder surgery.

chuckv97 - Posted - 12/22/2016:  06:26:47

Ouch...did they have you on painkillers?

Oh yeah, Oxycodone. They do a nerve block first that takes a couple of days to wear off then the Ozy kicks in. I don't care for the Oxy's so I get off them as guickly as possible.

chuckv97 - Posted - 12/22/2016:  10:16:13

Good move

DeanT - Posted - 12/22/2016:  11:16:54

I still have my T3 from my last tooth pull, I never took it. I hate drugs.
