With a mail box full of AARP cards...

chuckv97 - Posted - 12/02/2017:  19:35:28

And join protests....

OM45GE - Posted - 12/03/2017:  03:35:42

Boy, the AARP sure are relentless. The spam mail started ten years ago

DeanT - Posted - 12/03/2017:  06:54:23

Wait until you turn 65 and AARP doubles their mailers with medicare supplement programs.

chuckv97 - Posted - 12/03/2017:  21:51:34

We don’t have an AARP type of organization here

DeanT - Posted - 12/04/2017:  09:50:34

you are blessed

OM45GE - Posted - 12/04/2017:  12:34:23

I can forward all my AARP mailings to you if you would like.

chuckv97 - Posted - 12/04/2017:  13:07:46

I’ll pass - but I do get Snowbird Association (yes, there is one) offers in the mail.

DeanT - Posted - 12/04/2017:  15:54:14

Snowbirds want you to be a pilot?

chuckv97 - Posted - 12/04/2017:  17:09:00

Hah, not a chance...maybe if I was 20 again I’d give it a shot.

I've seen their show, they're awesome!

OM45GE - Posted - 12/06/2017:  06:14:03

I’ve seen them too. They are amazing.

chuckv97 - Posted - 12/06/2017:  09:26:21

The Blue Angels are pretty cool ,too, although I’ve never had the chance to see them.

OM45GE - Posted - 12/06/2017:  13:53:16

They're made out of sterner stuff than I am.

DeanT - Posted - 12/06/2017:  14:17:21

I live near an Air Force base, and have had the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds fly right over my house.

OM45GE - Posted - 12/06/2017:  15:17:25

I used to live about 25 miles away from a SAC airbase (civilian now) and the Angels used to perform at annual airshow. Depending on the wind, they used to form up almost over the house. It was impressive but being at the show was incredible.

chuckv97 - Posted - 12/06/2017:  15:55:56

The Snowbirds do a show every Labour Day on the Toronto waterfront. If the Blue Jays are playing they drown everything out flying over the stadium

OM45GE - Posted - 12/07/2017:  03:30:34

I was sailing on Chesapeake Bay years ago when two fighters from the naval air station went directly over us about 100 feet up. Loosened my fillings.

I finished my career on the B-1b bombers. I never got enough of watching/hearing them take off

OM45GE - Posted - 12/07/2017:  12:09:48

Those are amazing. Getting that much plane supersonic must take a lot of thrust.

chuckv97 - Posted - 12/07/2017:  14:24:52

They must be heavy - any idea how much they weigh?

DeanT - Posted - 12/08/2017:  10:53:10

Yep!

OM45GE - Posted - 12/08/2017:  12:31:49

I don't know why I thought of that except when I read about their range and in-flight refueling capabilities, all I could think of was that I would definitely need to take a leak.

My dad was a pilot in WWII. They used to have a "Pilot's Friend" in some of the planes that was basically a tube with a funnel that they peed into. The tube led outside the plane and had a valve that you opened to empty it. The outside end of the tube had a reversed cone on it so the airflow would suck the contents out of the tube. Wiseguy pilots would reverse the cone on their buddies so, when they opened the valve, the air pressure would blow the contents into the cockpit. Dad said they quickly learned to check the cone as part of the pre-flight inspection.

DeanT - Posted - 12/08/2017:  16:18:42

Technology hasn't changed much. Transport plane "bathrooms" had the same funnel cup. The suction was quite surprising the first time you use it. Lots of jokes there.

chuckv97 - Posted - 12/08/2017:  16:46:22

I don’t see them anymore, but a few years ago the truck stops were selling pee bags, so drivers wouldn’t have to stop. Crazy

Eastbound and down...

There’s always the Little John. When I was driving I welcomed the chance to check the tires and stretch my legs.

I guess you have to dump it out the window halfway through

DeanT - Posted - 12/09/2017:  16:58:21

Or have a few of them...

Those are about the same size as the bedside urinals a couple of our clients (at the group home) use.  Trouble is - - their urinals don't have screw down lids and we end up mopping the floor to clean up after them when they try to put the half-full containers back where they belong, and they miss the night stand and everything spills out on the floor.  I used to get irritated - - now I just call it "job security".

DeanT - Posted - 12/10/2017:  07:12:44

They need a one way valve

OM45GE - Posted - 12/11/2017:  05:01:58

Then there’s the Stadium Pal:

coffee: Modern one cup coffee makers, or the old fashioned full pot?

I like my Keurig... I definitely don't drink as much as when I made (and drank) a full pot!

chuckv97 - Posted - 12/12/2017:  16:33:53

One cup , ...

OM45GE - Posted - 12/13/2017:  03:00:37

I make it by the pot - three cups at a time. Thermal carafe. We had a Keurig but didn’t use it much.

OM45GE - Posted - 12/13/2017:  03:13:41

It’s actually six cups on the coffee maker but three mugs full.

DeanT - Posted - 12/13/2017:  10:24:48

Now I'm getting thirsty...

OM45GE - Posted - 12/13/2017:  10:49:51

I usually don’t drink coffee after noon for some reason.

chuckv97 - Posted - 12/13/2017:  12:33:27

I sip all day long,,I don’t mind cold coffee and make a cup last 4 hours

OM45GE - Posted - 12/13/2017:  14:44:08

I like iced coffee but don't like hot coffee gone cold. I'll nuke it to heat it up.

chuckv97 - Posted - 12/13/2017:  14:50:48

When driving, I’ll often buy iced coffee. There are more and better brands available mow
