Their coffe's passable if fresh

DeanT - Posted - 07/09/2017:  15:21:20

we went to a Denny's yesterday, and I was impressed. It had been many years. Then we got 20% discount for being retired military.

OM45GE - Posted - 07/10/2017:  02:39:08

It's probably been ten years since I went to. Denny's. It was pretty good.

DeanT - Posted - 07/10/2017:  10:17:06

I think I drank 10 cups of coffee

chuckv97 - Posted - 07/10/2017:  10:43:30

Is it hotter than Mojave there Chuck?

chuckv97 - Posted - 07/10/2017:  11:27:49

Better here than southern Nevada yesterday where it was 110*F.

OM45GE - Posted - 07/10/2017:  12:00:21

It's amazing how hot it's been out west.

DeanT - Posted - 07/10/2017:  14:17:19

only 97 here in Kansas. Sposed to hit triple digits tomorrow. Bring it on... cause the grasss don't grow, and I don't gotta mow...

chuckv97 - Posted - 07/10/2017:  14:21:05

It was 96 in southern Alberta when I left. I only like hot when I'm at the beach.

OM45GE - Posted - 07/10/2017:  15:18:31

We're in the mid-80's today with low humidity. It's lovely but isn't supposed to last.

DeanT - Posted - 07/11/2017:  05:15:56

the only thing I like more than heat, is snow. Notice that both reduce the chance of needing to mow the grass.

OM45GE - Posted - 07/11/2017:  05:33:00

LOL.

You're more likely to get the heat than the snow aren't you?

chuckv97 - Posted - 07/11/2017:  06:24:26

Snow = shoveling

OM45GE - Posted - 07/11/2017:  07:45:32

I use a snow blower and sort of enjoy it.

DeanT - Posted - 07/11/2017:  11:08:46

I miss the snow... we got ZERO last winter

chuckv97 - Posted - 07/11/2017:  11:55:47

I don't mind snow- it's the 20 below stuff I dislike

OM45GE - Posted - 07/11/2017:  12:48:04

20 below is getting nippy. I prefer it warmer.

DeanT - Posted - 07/11/2017:  14:10:08

I'd take 20 degrees and no wind, every day of the year

chuckv97 - Posted - 07/11/2017:  18:33:21

Sunny, calm and +20 is beautiful

DeanT - Posted - 07/12/2017:  02:02:24

yep, comfortable, no bugs, and no mowing

OM45GE - Posted - 07/12/2017:  02:59:33

I'm right there with you on that.

chuckv97 - Posted - 07/12/2017:  09:40:51

We used to play outdoor hockey all day in that kind of weather

DeanT - Posted - 07/12/2017:  10:17:36

we did too! We had the perfect farm pond, about the size of a hockey rink

OM45GE - Posted - 07/12/2017:  13:53:48

We used to go ice fishing when it was like that out. So nice!

DeanT - Posted - 07/12/2017:  15:22:52

My dad was an ice fisherman... he loved to fish year round. I hated it. As a kid I felt sorry for the fish, and it was boring as hell. Never fished as an adult

chuckv97 - Posted - 07/12/2017:  19:41:15

I like fishing, although it's been years since I wetted a line.

I'd go to lake Michigan with my Dad quite often, he would go out on the pier fishing, and I'd be at the beach swimming

chuckv97 - Posted - 07/13/2017:  05:31:49

We did a lot of pier fishing too, on Lake Ontario. I miss being around the Great Lakes.

DeanT - Posted - 07/13/2017:  13:20:19

ME TOOOOOO!!!! Nothing like them in kansas!

OM45GE - Posted - 07/13/2017:  13:48:29

I used to enjoy fly fishing for trout, but I haven't done it in years.

DeanT - Posted - 07/13/2017:  16:31:36

My lovely bride used to tie her own flys

OM45GE - Posted - 07/14/2017:  02:45:05

That's cool.

chuckv97 - Posted - 07/14/2017:  08:49:05

Fly fishing and fly tieing are true arts

DeanT - Posted - 07/14/2017:  10:32:45

She liked tying the flys more than the fishing. She's very into arts and crafts, and quilting more so than anything

OM45GE - Posted - 07/14/2017:  13:45:33

My dad used to tie his own flies. He had a great tying outfit. Unfortunately, it disappeared when he died.

chuckv97 - Posted - 07/14/2017:  14:00:03

There's lots of great trout streams coming off the Rockies in Alberta and Montana

OM45GE - Posted - 07/15/2017:  07:28:01

I used to live near a little trout stream in New Hampshire. You could jump across it in places. I used to catch native brook trout in it. Fully grown, they were about a foot long, but they sure were tasty. There was a farm nearby and I would walk down to the stream,  catch a few trout, buy some fresh picked corn on the way home and have a heavenly meal.

DeanT - Posted - 07/16/2017:  07:01:55

All this talk of streams... and we are roasting in Kansas with almost 100 degrees and no rain. Sometimes I so miss Michigan

chuckv97 - Posted - 07/16/2017:  07:12:26

I met a guy in Phoenix last winter who is a mailman; he got himself a transfer from Providence,RI to Phoenix because he hated walking in the snow and ice all day in the winter. He said he can handle 110 degree heat better. Go figure,,,whew.

I'd rather shovel snow than mow the grass any day!

OM45GE - Posted - 07/17/2017:  10:35:04

I'll have to think about that one.

DeanT - Posted - 07/17/2017:  14:06:36

one is a good workout, and the other makes you breath fumes and dust and clippings and makes you sneeze all night. I want to move to a condo...

OM45GE - Posted - 07/17/2017:  15:49:08

I get about 3 1/2 miles walking behind the mower when I cut the grass. I like the excercize.

chuckv97 - Posted - 07/17/2017:  17:24:07

I didn't mind mowing the lawn,,but then I didn't have the allergy to fresh cut grass

OM45GE - Posted - 07/18/2017:  02:39:37

I used to have terrible allergies. Then I went through five years of desensitization shots and have no allergies at all.

chuckv97 - Posted - 07/18/2017:  03:53:12

Most of my brothers have hay fever every year - I got lucky, I guess

OM45GE - Posted - 07/18/2017:  04:59:43

It was brutal. I was on asthma inhalers, steroids, prescription decongestants and codeine for coughs much of the year. Now I don't need anything.

DeanT - Posted - 07/18/2017:  06:27:19

I always wait until after it rains, or when it's really windy to mow.

OM45GE - Posted - 07/18/2017:  07:17:33

That must be all the time with the wind you get around there.
