I'm not fast enough for competition.

dmiller - Posted - 03/19/2016:  20:25:25

I never was much of a competitor, even though it's fun to get involved in a friendly game or contest.  I've really slacked off in the "activity dept." and don't get much exercise at all these days.   All my years of alcohol and smoking gave me a severe case of neuropathy in my feet, so I can't hike or walk like I used to.  Lately - - I HAVE been thinking about getting out the mountain bike to try to get back in some sort of shape, but I have to wait for better weather.  Spring can't come soon enough up here.

DeanT - Posted - 03/20/2016:  06:48:33

I've got a trainer bike in my basement gym for the winter, I love that thing. Pedal my ass off while watching movies

chuckv97 - Posted - 03/20/2016:  18:52:35

I was between jobs once and told my then wife to peddle her ass around town

DeanT - Posted - 03/20/2016:  19:04:02

and that's the last thing you remember before waking up in the ER

dat - Posted - 03/21/2016:  06:36:18

brave man

OM45GE - Posted - 03/21/2016:  06:53:43

chuckv97 - Posted - 03/21/2016:  07:04:42

She had battleax tendencies,,but then I guess my goofing-off banjo playing played a part

DeanT - Posted - 03/21/2016:  13:51:23

chuckv97 - Posted - 03/21/2016:  13:52:30

Is it on YouTube?

dat - Posted - 03/21/2016:  14:38:23

seems like everything is on youtube

When we were going to divorce court, my ex put down in the proposed property settlement that she wanted just about anything that she thought I really wanted - my Harley, my pickup truck, a sports car I was restoring, you name it. She valued everything for more than double what it was really worth, clearly thinking I would fight for it and the judge would give her half the value. My lawyer and I decided to agree to her property division and asked for half the value which was granted. The loudest sound in the courtroom was her jaw hitting the floor.

DeanT - Posted - 03/21/2016:  16:46:51

My x thought she was going to get a wad of cash when I sold our house. I had the realtor sell it for a very low break even price. The scene at closing was priceless. I'm surprised the vein in her neck didn't explode.

dmiller - Posted - 03/21/2016:  20:43:13

Did you ever hear The Red Corvette song by John McCutcheon?

OM45GE - Posted - 03/22/2016:  03:46:55

Good one.

dat - Posted - 03/22/2016:  05:41:49

I know a guy, not personal friend, but we say hi when we're in town, when he got a divorce his wife wanted half his business, he said ok and then closed down shop, did not sell out, just called it quits on being a business man and retired

DeanT - Posted - 03/22/2016:  06:30:19

Cool song, never heard it before, but have seen John McCutcheon at Winfield lots of times

chuckv97 - Posted - 03/22/2016:  07:24:15

Then you've probably heard of the guy who was getting a divorce ,and his wife wanted half of the house, so he got on the roof with a chain saw and started cutting.

I've never been a "stuff" person, so I let my x have everything except my instruments and clothes. Ha! Since I sold the house... she had to get her goons to move it all and pay for a storage unit.

OM45GE - Posted - 03/23/2016:  03:31:16

My second ex put everything I owned in the garage for me to pick up and I mean EVERYTHING from an antique dresser that she deliberately scratched to an old corn broom that I had when we got married.

I guy who worked for me was helping me move the stuff. He picked up the broom and asked, "Are you sure we should take this?"  When I asked why he said, "How is she going to get to work?"

chuckv97 - Posted - 03/23/2016:  06:13:15

I took a duffel bag and my guitar and jumped on a Greyhound bus.

OM45GE - Posted - 03/23/2016:  07:54:59

Clean breaks can be a good thing.

dat - Posted - 03/23/2016:  13:01:51

except for bones, but even then a clean break is better than a shatter

DeanT - Posted - 03/23/2016:  13:02:25

My first divorce was like that. I got the papers in basic training. Bankruptcy got the house and everything in it. All I had to my name was my uniforms and the clothes I wore to basic training, and the old pick-up truck I hid in my buddy's back yard (I saw the writing on the wall).

dat - Posted - 03/23/2016:  13:24:38

at the time, you had plenty to keep you occupied

chuckv97 - Posted - 03/23/2016:  19:01:33

At least you hid the pickup. Ha

DeanT - Posted - 03/23/2016:  19:46:52

yeah and my roller skates were in the truck!

OM45GE - Posted - 03/24/2016:  03:30:21

So you got to keep several sets of wheels!

dat - Posted - 03/24/2016:  05:44:58

good to have back up travel plans

DeanT - Posted - 03/24/2016:  06:29:37

I loved to rollerskate... went every Friday and Saturday night when I was young

dat - Posted - 03/24/2016:  07:06:15

roller skating at the rink, one of the few times you could listen to disco and still be cool

DeanT - Posted - 03/24/2016:  07:22:09

plaid double knit polyester?

DeanT - Posted - 03/24/2016:  08:33:34

Oh man... that's exactly what we had! With the imitation silk shirts...

chuckv97 - Posted - 03/24/2016:  09:19:00

I wore these (gasp!) in 1974 when I drove cab. They wanted us to wear dress pants, but in the winter they got totally waterlogged and salt stained at the bottom 6 inches from lying on the wet floor mat.

DeanT - Posted - 03/24/2016:  09:37:00

We were wearing bell bottoms and mesh shirts, and the girls were wearing tube tops. Those were the days!

OM45GE - Posted - 03/24/2016:  11:32:55

I used to buy bell bottom jeans at the local Army Navy surplus store.

DeanT - Posted - 03/24/2016:  16:44:07

I had a pair of those too! Loved the top loading square pockets!

OM45GE - Posted - 03/25/2016:  04:19:16

They were great and about half the price of a pair of Lees or Wranglers.

dat - Posted - 03/25/2016:  05:53:26

my bro in law would never wear bell bottoms 'cause the hippies wore them, but he did wear boot cut, which was the same thing with a different name

OM45GE - Posted - 03/25/2016:  06:27:42

I was playing Rock 'n Roll back then and we were all wearing bell bottoms. Paisley shirts with puffy sleeves too.

DeanT - Posted - 03/25/2016:  06:40:30

Don't forget the gold chains and 3" wide belt

OM45GE - Posted - 03/25/2016:  06:44:43

Oh definitely. Way too cool for school.

dat - Posted - 03/25/2016:  07:18:37

and great big collars on the shirts

chuckv97 - Posted - 03/25/2016:  09:47:07

I can't believe I was such a slave to fashion..., but then the gals liked it

DeanT - Posted - 03/25/2016:  10:37:52

feathered hair...

dat - Posted - 03/25/2016:  10:40:09

I'm still a slave to fashon, wranglers, redwings, t shirt and a pearl snap denim shirt. some styles never go away, or get into style
