..for the Last Word had returned to its rightful home in Massachusetts.
Alaina - Posted - 01/16/2013: 09:35:28
No, "did" implies past tense, whereas "do" is present. Men really DON'T know everything, huh?
mbanjo - Posted - 01/16/2013: 11:34:40
Didn't you mean 'some' men don't know everything:-)............we are all banjo players, .......therefore, we do.

I "do" know that you "don't" have the Last Word at the moment I post this.

He just flew into sydney from LA.........I picked him up from the airport.........strange southern US accent he has.
Alaina - Posted - 01/16/2013: 16:15:53
Dude, everything! That is like asking what the difference is between Italian and Sicilian
ErikH - Posted - 01/16/2013: 17:07:33
Are there regional differences in speech in different parts of Australia?
mbanjo - Posted - 01/16/2013: 17:59:27
Its not that easy to pick here....the diferences are very subtle........the two largest cities are 600 miles apart but you would have trouble noticing an accent difference......when I lived in england you could tell which town a person was from, even if it was just down the road a bit..................95 percent of people here live on the coast..............some of the rural folk talk a bit strange
ErikH - Posted - 01/17/2013: 02:27:04
I don't think it's that easy to spot all of the subtle differences here, but much of that is regional, too, I suppose. For instance, in Chicago, you can usually pick out the south-sider from the north-sider based on his accent. A Chicago accent is still basically a Midwestern accent, though. Easy ones to pick out would be Maine, Boston, and New York City.

If your FROM Boston, you can tell the differences between neighborhoods - although they do seem to be getting more and more blended.
Alaina - Posted - 01/17/2013: 09:24:48
I love it when someone from Boston calls in and says that they need help servicing their Boston 6string. Just listening to them say "Boston" makes my day!
mbanjo - Posted - 01/17/2013: 10:28:02
I can't tell a canadian from an american.............mexicans I have no problem with
ErikH - Posted - 01/17/2013: 14:49:33
Canadians from Ontario are known to end sentences with "eh?" and "about" tends to sound like "a boat". Actually, people from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, Northern Wisconsin and Northern Minnesota can sound like that too, I suppose. When I lived in northwestern Wisconsin, there were alot of people who spoke like they do in the movie "Fargo".
Canadians from Quebec have the French accent and you'll hear "deez, dem, and doze" instead of these, them and those.

ErikH - Posted - 01/17/2013: 15:00:58
Of course, I have a hard time telling an Australian from someone from New Zealand...........
mbanjo - Posted - 01/17/2013: 15:05:58
That's an easy one Erik newzealanders pronounce 'a' as 'i' ........eg: will all pissingers please fasten their seat belts....:-)
Alaina - Posted - 01/17/2013: 15:08:58
I just love all the different accents I hear each day. It's pretty awesome!
mbanjo - Posted - 01/17/2013: 15:34:58
Jobs were you get to meet different people all day are the best, I used to work in a shop opposite a theater, and just about all the stars of the shows used to call in at some time or other
mbanjo - Posted - 01/17/2013: 17:58:30
