My wife baked a heart shaped chocolate cake. Yum! It was the last word in treats.
ErikH - Posted - 02/15/2015: 04:28:55
It's a pretty cold one here in Illinois.

We got another foot of snow. Now it's blowing a gale so it looks like it's still snowing.
ErikH - Posted - 02/16/2015: 02:45:38
We had the gale winds on Saturday but only a dusting of snow. You guys are just getting slammed this year.
TheLastWord - Posted - 02/16/2015: 04:00:44
Enjoy the snow and gale winds. Our forecast is low 70's and breezy.
OM45GE - Posted - 02/16/2015: 04:31:03
It was minus 3 this morning with 25 - 35 mph winds. It was a bit nippy walking the dog.
TheLastWord - Posted - 02/16/2015: 16:19:44
I would say so. The LW is staying in Florida for the time being.
ErikH - Posted - 02/17/2015: 02:18:31
That might be wise of the Last Word. It's gonna be awfully cold around these parts for the next few days.
OM45GE - Posted - 02/17/2015: 04:41:18
Indeed we are. We're also going for a swim in the river as soon as we can chop a big enough hole through the ice.
TheLastWord - Posted - 02/17/2015: 16:37:47
Geez, we're having a cold front move through and it's freezing!! Dropped down to 52 already.
OM45GE - Posted - 02/17/2015: 17:05:36
We peaked out at 21 when the sun was out. I was worried about heat stroke. It's back down a more reasonable 11 degrees right now. Hopefully it will continue to cool off.
banjoscotty - Posted - 02/17/2015: 18:32:25
Richard,Ft.Pierce is going to be about 34 Thurs night. You're only about 225 miles
north of me but it gets colder there. You will probably see the high 20's.
chuckv97 - Posted - 02/17/2015: 18:50:17
Oh,oh. Does this mean orange juice will be going up in price?
ErikH - Posted - 02/18/2015: 02:17:17
I don't think we're getting out of single digits today. Yesterday was a balmy 18, but fortunately a steady breeze kept the wind chill around 1 degree for the hottest part of the day, or I would have had to break out the gatorade.
banjoscotty - Posted - 02/18/2015: 03:03:51
CHILL out Guys,I have friends in North Dakota,
it is -21 there this morning. Now that's BRRrrrr!
Wind chill is -47.Now that's BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
OM45GE - Posted - 02/18/2015: 03:26:49
Our heat wave continues, we're at 19 F this morning. I've got to shovel off the central air conditioning compressor and fire that puppy up.
chuckv97 - Posted - 02/18/2015: 07:06:16
It's strangely balmy out west..almost no snow on the ground, way above freezing temps most days. But there's still a month and a half to go before we're out of the woods. March can be brutal around these parts.
OM45GE - Posted - 02/18/2015: 13:09:43
I hope it doesn't warm up to quickly too soon. I've got about four feet of snow on the roof and don't want it too melt fast. It can back up under the shingles

chuckv97 - Posted - 02/18/2015: 16:42:05
That's a lot Bill. Not worried about it getting wet and heavy? Might think about shoveling some off?
banjoscotty - Posted - 02/18/2015: 16:48:00
Bill,,When I was a kid in southern Ohio I had winter chores concerning snow and ice.You know, keeping
things clean. I was the happiest boy alive when Dad moved us to Florida.I still had chores to do but
nothing like the winter ones.
OM45GE - Posted - 02/18/2015: 17:06:31
I've got a snow rake and plan to spend Saturday cleaning the roof off. We may get a storm Sunday that starts as snow but turns to rain and I don't want all that snow soaking up water.
ErikH - Posted - 02/18/2015: 18:46:58
I haven't had to clean off a roof since 1979 when we had the big blizzard in Chicago. The last couple of big ones we've had, including the 19 inch storm we had this year, were windy enough that the roof stayed relatively snow free. They're calling for wind chills around -26 tomorrow, but I'll be indoors most of the day, thankfully.
TheLastWord - Posted - 02/19/2015: 04:01:46
Wow, that was a close call. It's down to 34 this morning. If it's below 32, the whole town shuts down.
OM45GE - Posted - 02/19/2015: 06:19:25
We've had a lot of windy days with the winds out of the north and northwest. The way the house is oriented, that blows the snow off the back roof (which has less than a foot on it) and onto the front roof (with about four feet on it). I've never had problems with ice dams and the house is built like a bomb shelter so I'm not worried about the structure. However, if we get significant rain, all bets are off.

I think we should all go camping.In a tent.With a camp fire.And ice fishing,
and sledding, and sking, and ice skating, and a good old fashioned snow ball war.
ErikH - Posted - 02/20/2015: 02:22:08
I've tent camped in January many times; mostly with the boy scouts. The coldest weather I"ve ever tent camped in was -13F. No heaters in the tent. I have a sleeping bag (Wiggy's -- one of the best you can find) that''s rated to -40, and I was fine. There are steps that must be taken to insulate yourself from the ground, but it can be done, I usually sport a goatee, and I did wake up with ice in my moustache and beard from my breathing,
OM45GE - Posted - 02/20/2015: 04:51:05
I used to do winter camping but at some point decided I didn't really enjoy it. I still winter hike, snowshoe and ski but I prefer sleeping someplace warm.
banjoscotty - Posted - 02/20/2015: 04:53:22
Eric,,Did you get up then and go pee? OOOOOO---EEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!
Temp got to near freezing in Ft Pierce last night. YEAH,I know,I know,,,,but it's
pretty cool for us.

We Canuckleheads decided to send some COOOLL air down South - gotta share the wealth, ya know...
OM45GE - Posted - 02/20/2015: 17:59:22
I spent most of the day clearing the snow off the roof. It was in the teens with twenty mile per hour winds. Lots of fun.
TheLastWord - Posted - 02/21/2015: 02:22:59
LW doesn't like clearing snow off the roof in 20 mph winds.
