Do you ever put em up in jars with vinegar and salt etc. We do that on occasion for some Middle Eastern food and just handy way to have some lemon handy for other cooking enhancement.

"Traffic light" peppers stuffed with rice and sausage, and baked in a chipotle tomato sauce. Plus extra filling.

I wish I took a photo because it was so beautiful. I made a potato pizza, which doesn't sound too appetizing to most Americans, but believe me, if you went to Italy you would find them all over the place. I made mine with a simple cream based sauce, a thin layer of ricotta and a small amount of mozzarella with garlic, onions and rosemary. Molto delizioso.
Brian T - Posted - 03/29/2021: 20:03:05
Yeah! "White pizza". We use Ranch Dressing as the sauce on the crust.

The Mrs, was going to make bacon cheeseburgers ... but ... I'd already finished all the bacon ... so we had cheeseburgers.

Sounds good. I know wife would like it. Be hard not to sprinkle on some bacon bits or some diced prosciutto. Or make it a half&half, as I do cook for veggies. thx, for sharing.

I had the same idea, but I looked around and couldn't find any bacon. When I had it in Rome it was just potatoes and a little sauce, probably cream, salt, pepper and a tiny bit of cheese, not too much and no fancy sauce. This is a Potato pizza, so potatoes played the starring role,

Does breakfast count? My April Fool's day pancakes (from scratch, not from a mix, and not measured).

Just a big plate of fish last night, nothing else, not even chips. Fry the rest tonight?
I have a bag of frozen prawns calling "boil us, boil us."
Haven't had a big hit of pasta Alfredo (with olives & cherry tomatoes) in ages.

Wee had his n hers bacon butties this morning. Well done with mushrooms and tomatoes for my wife and a lightly done bacon and egg banjo for me.
The bacon is what we call ‘back bacon’ - dry cured pork loin with a small section of the belly still attached.
Wet Spaniel - Posted - 04/04/2021: 03:43:54
Also, I chose the egg specifically because it was wearing an Easter bonnet !

Is Koch's deli in West Philly still a going concern? Their whitefish salad on a.bagel was heavenly.

Early Easter dinner at On The Waterfront restaurant. I (Liz) looked after a neighbor's dog while she was away and she gave us a gift card. Appetizer of Buffalo wings, I had seared tuna with spinach and coconut ginger risotto, and Al had a New York strip steak with mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables. Pistachio cake for dessert.

My 11 year old boy wanted to make chocolate eclairs. He did it all from scratch, finding the recipe and writing the shopping list etc. My wife and I left him to it and he produced these beauties.
They almost were good enough for me to forgive him for jumping on the cinder block plinth I had just spent the morning laying/concreting and levelling in the back yard.

Went across town to my Scrabble people's Easter Dinner.
Salmon pie,White egg sauce, peas and "dilly beans" that were snappy and spicey.
Apple crumble pie with vanilla ice cream
I won the following Scrabble game mostly from the benefit of a 7 letter 62 point word.
The "Peace Pipe" was seldom idle.

I've never heard of dilly beans and had to look them up, they sound right up my street. We aren't growing green beans this year, but as a crop we always get lots, so I'm adding that recipe to the 'to do list'

Dilly beans serve two purposes........1- they taste great, and 2- they make a great stirring stick for your Bloody Mary!!!

Nice to crunch on a raw green bean from time to time but don't make a habit of it.
The phytohemeagglutinins (PHA's) are really hard on your guts but cooking destroys their toxicity.
Not an issue with pea pods.
Jonty; Make up a crumb dressing with Italian mixed Herbs, S&P and chicken stock. My kids want curry. Squeeze wads into cigars and lay inside chicken thighs. Cut side down to bake in a Pyrex glass pie plate for 40 minutes @ 375F. Covered 30 mins then pack in the rest of the dressing and uncovered 10-15 mins more.

I'm planning on making Beef Stroganoff and dumping it on a jacket potato, or a baked potato made British-style. Maybe with a side of corn and a roll with butter. That sounds like a good meal to me.

I'll let the sausages thaw somewhat this afternoon. Use a cleaver to cut them into short lengths, about the same as the diameter.
Cut 3-4 apples into 1/8 segments and chop in thirds. Granny Smith hold their shape as cooked.
I seem to need to eat a lot of cooked apple in this dish.
Suppertime, get the sausage segments going in a large pan. Get the mix veg going in the steamer.
Toss the apple chunks with lots of cinnamon and some brown sugar. Stir fry them in with the sausages until tender. Hope the veg are ready.
I'll freeze the leftovers, hopefully in 2 lots, for dinners down the road.

I think you guys call them jacket potatoes. Where you rub oil, salt and pepper on the skin of a potato, then bake it with a small x-cut for an hour or so, then open it back up and stick it back in for10-15 minutes. The skin is nice and crunchy with seasoning and the inside is soft as a pillow. I think I read about if here on the BHO by one of you guys from England. By the way, stroganoff goes great on top of one. And dessert will be warmed bread pudding with ice cream. Btw, bread pudding is chopped up bread baked in custard with spices, nuts and raisins. Maybe I will make some egg nog to eat with it.

I have a multitude of uses for previously baked potatoes.
So I scrubbed a bunch of delicious bakers and into a 350F oven for 35+ mins
'+' means poke with a stick to see if they need more.
Went downstairs to do stuff. A couple of "thumps!" from the kitchen above me.
Figured the damn cat was up on the counter and jumped down.
Wrong.
I had forgotten to poke a couple of fork-holes in each spud.
@350F, two of them had EXPLODED in the oven.
Potato starch, wet, steamy slop, cooked all over the inside of the oven.
What's for supper? Look in the oven.
