I went to our local fish monger and bought fresh halibut and dry scallops. Last night I skillet cooked the seafood and made a Beurre blanc sauce. Wife made green beans with our garden tarragon. Yea, scallops and halibut was a bit much, but I could not resist. Brad

I get fussy about lasagna, but like it. Now the home made strawberry shortcake gets me everytime. I can smell my grandmother's kitchen now, and the ripe red berrys from her garden. Heavy cream, whipped or poured on, either way good for me. Brad

Sweet sausage in sauce. Pan-fried Montreal seasoned (comes in a shaker for steak, actually), taters that needed to be used up, and onions for on your sandwich or with your taters. Gotta mention, love my antique Griswolds for cooking.
Brad- I'm about 60 miles NW of Pittsburgh, so Wheeling is about a ~3 hr drive from here.

I looked it up. You can be a "monger" (aka seller) of anything. The term persists in some areas of commerce but mostly not others.

Sounds good. Many of us have a great collection of CI pots and skillets. I have no grizzies, but I have quite a collection of thick smooth no namers and off brands CI. I use them a lot!
yep, 3 hours is too far to drive for a piece of fried fish between two slices of white bread, but it's history is fun. All my dads kinfolk come from Rine's Ridge, above Moundsville. My great great great great grandfather, a refuge from Germany came over in the 1750's and worked coal and farm. Loyalty serving George and the new America, he was granted land in old Virginia, in the boonies above Moundsville. The Ridge's cemeteries are mostly Rine's and Yahoo's. I have a family vine, not a family tree. ;-)

All of my iron pans were someone's trash that I turned into treasure, literally. All 'throwaways' that I snatched up and spent the time to clean and season. Nothing that tossing them into a nice hardwood fire for a bit couldn't handle ;). I have 3 Griswold and the rest are heavy and old and smooth. I rarely cook in anything else. Except my old saucepans.

Has to be carefully built pizza for tonight. I have been gifted a bottle of wine (2020), made from clones of my own house vines. Rooted cuttings that I would have sold in the Community Market, years ago.

RonR: the honorable thing to do is to trade recipes. I'd like to see your crab cake recipe in return for something that you have been looking for. If it's in my personal book, it's yours. What's to eat?

Its quick and easy Brad and Brian. A sprinkle of old bay, crushed crackers, mayo, one egg, and one pound of lump backfin crab. Frig mixture for one half hour, form cakes and fry in olive oil. They cook fast. The tartar sauce is chopped pickles, Dijon mustard, and mayo. Six big cakes to the pound for three people.

There's a new-ish local pizza place in the village. So busy, I have never been able to call when they were not already fully loaded until closing time. So be it.
I've been using the curved undersides of Naan breads for crusts and mild salsa for the sauce.
The meaty part last night was thin slices of cheesy bratwursts. Red & green peppers, onion, 3 cheeses and lots of Tabasco green.
Best of all was that bottle of local wine made from vines cloned from my place! WOW! Yummy bottle of McBride sunshine and lots of left overs for tonight in a minute.
