Wokeness? I can tell you, I'd be awoken by the smell of that quiche, and I'd surely stay awake in order to eat it!

Last night I hacked together stuff on hand. I will call it “brothless kielbasa soup.” Sweated carrot, onion, celery, and garlic in a deep CI skillet. Then added potatoes and the sausage. Along with various seasonings. Cover the skillet and put in oven.
Then I made a sauce of: butter, flour, chicken broth, milk and cream. Seasoned with S&P and dried thyme.

I had a Dutch Baby pancake, and instead of blueberries, strawberries or bananas on top, I put a handful of sausage and a handful of cheddar cheese on top. After it came out of the oven I splashed it with a twist of lemon, melted a pad of butter and poured a bit of real maple syrup on top. This was so delicious, I will add it to my eating regimen. One of these days I'll have it for breakfast for the first time ever.

For Taco Tuesday I am going to attempt fish tacos with frozen fish fillets. With fried fish, onion, cabbage, and some sort of sauce I will make up, just how bad can it be? I guess that I will find out tonight!

Mix up some mayo, green hot dog relish and Dijon mustard for the fish taco sauce.
I'll eat one to be nice but I need that heavily fried Maillard beefy taste, thanks.

--"Mix up some mayo, green hot dog relish and Dijon mustard for the fish taco sauce.---"
Too late! Thanks for the tip and maybe I'll try that one next time but I've already mixed up mayo, sour cream, fresh lime juice, garlic powder, and Sriracha. Letting it sit right now and it tastes pretty dang good on it's own but tonight will tell the tale when I add the onions and slaw.

Victorian Epicure is a home condiment business that markets a "Herb& Garlic" dry mix.
1 tbsp/lb ground round, S&P, (&egg and bread crumb) makes burgers good enough to eat for breakfast.

Finally!
Al can stop whining about stuffed clams, as he's been doing for the past month. My recipe is: onion, bell peppers and garlic sautéed in a lot of butter. Add your chopped clams and juice, Bell's Poultry Seasoning, 4c bread crumbs, more clam juice if needed, and crushed red pepper. Pack into clam shells and bake til piping hot. We also had shrimp cocktail with LOTS of horseradish.

Lamb Shepherds Pie sounds amazing!!! Best Shepherds pie I ever had was when I was doing my internship at St. Mary’s Hospital (burns center) in Milwaukee, Wi.
I had never had it before and had never heard of it. To this day I will never forget it!!!
To be honest, I’ve never made it and I don’t know why. If we have lamb for Easter, guess what I’m doing with the leftovers!!! Thanks Liz !!!

Breakfast on Sunday. Bacon (proper bacon), Lincolnshire sausage, egg, beans (yup), haggis and black pudding. Followed by a gentle stroll along the river to a great pub for a couple of pints.
slammer - Posted - 04/05/2022: 05:37:33
Jonty, I like beans alright, just don’t know if I want them with my breakfast.
That plate looks pretty damn good though. Have never had haggis, but think I would like it. Gonna need another egg and where’s the toast and ketchup???
Haven’t had good blood sausage or black pudding since we were on a vacation in Punta Cana. The breakfast buffet had it and my plate was loaded every day !!!

Wet Spaniel - Posted - 04/05/2022: 05:47:29
you'd like the haggis if you like black pudding mate. Hey, give the beans a try - they're something to dip your toast in after you've used up the egg yoke.

Sirloin tips, marinated in a little Italian dressing and Montreal Seasoning, grilledover charcoal on the hibachi. Sautéed peppers, onions, and mushrooms. Provolone cheese, melted over the entirety, all on fresh buns from Delia's (a local deli/bakery with excellent bread.) Steak bombs! Plus enough leftovers to do a stir fry.
Paul R - Posted - 04/05/2022: 22:28:05
Thought I'd use up the challah. Mom called French toast "golden toast", from the French "pain doree" (accent on the first e). Brekky on Sunday and Tuesday.

Pot roast from a Aldi kit (small chuck roast, potatoes, carrots, celery and onion and a spice packet.) Turned out very nice and we have enough left over for a pie tomorrow. Not bad for 12 bucks!

Slow oven roasted Baby Back Ribs tonight. Homemade rub slathered on before cooking covered with foil. 275 F for 3 hours and then sauced and broiled till caramelized. No pics , but it was rib candy and no grill required. Sides were red cabbage slaw, loaded baked taters. Great meal for 2 for under $20.00 !!!
Mrs. Slammer wasn’t laughing when I told her I would "tip her" after dinner !!! Wow!!!

I had a goose egg for breakfast the other day, I didn’t need two eggs but I had to cook a hens egg as well just for the comedic comparison. Lovely rich and creamy yolk in a goose egg!

That sounds great! Including the stroll to the pub. Brad
Further thought or argument. I Like, equally, "proper" bacon, and those strips we call bacon in these parts. Though, there is a lot you can do with thin strip bacon. Ever try to crumble up proper bacon and put it in a salad? ;-)

Last night I had my older brother over for a steak dinner: well marbled ribeyes, salt-crusted baked potatoes-with a bit of hickory smoking in the grill, grilled cauliflower steaks, and grilled slices of French "style" loaf. Plenty of butter on everything.

Pot pie made with the remnants of last night's pot roast. Beef, potatoes, onion, and celery in gravy. I added some frozen green beans. Made sure to thoroughly bake the bottom crust first, so it wasn't soggy!

Oh yeah, carrots too. It was a meal kit from Aldi with all the ingredients for a pot roast. Very convenient and no waste. Kind of like those subscriptions meal kits, I guess?

Gotta Love Aldi !!! It’s my goto store!!! Granted, they don’t have everything and I can’t do all my shopping there, but damn, I sure do save a bunch compared to other stores in our area. There are certain things that I only buy that are name brands at other stores, but I love a lot of the Aldi/ Clancy brand goods. My wife is also into “Organic” and Aldi has a lot of it and doesn’t break the bank like other stores!!!

Pan-fried bratwursts with onions, pickles and 3 kinds of mustards.
Nice ciabatta for a bready thing, tortillas don't seem quite right.
Bottle of white wine, I seem to have a quite a stock.
Seems a couple of vineyards will not bottle the 2021 vintage. Too much smoke stink that you only find after fermentation. I'd still like to try it out of curiosity.
