I've never been to a party or meal where there were leftover deviled eggs.
Coincidence? You decide.

Just curious Fig !!! When your having BBQ Chicken and Deviled eggs for dinner, which do you eat first............the chicken or the egg ???
I took some hard boiled eggs to work the other day and some leftover chicken for lunch and as I was eating I got to thinking about it and I was kind of put off by the whole thing. Did I just eat an entire family??? Am I eating these in the correct order?
One time at the airport while waiting for a flight I got a breakfast sandwich from a Popeyes restaurant. As I was eating it I realized it was egg on chicken and again questioned if this is a good idea. I kind of weirded out and could not finish my sandwich, which is not like me at all. Am I the only one that thinks this???

Very nice. I often make loaded baked taters for family at holidays and dinners.
Saturday, I went to a friend's house - Filipino. There were many delicious Filipino dishes, and as usual when the party splits, the food also gets split. Can't really tell you what everything was, but can tell you it was delish.
Tonight will be fully loaded cheeseburgers, made with 95-97" beef, and very little fat. I know that's not conventioinal, but I really like the ground steak flavor and burgers that don't shrink.
bubbalouie - Posted - 06/15/2020: 17:56:39
Tommy I've sat at lunchroom tables with my Filipino Buddies & Ive tried everything they offered!
Their spring rolls & lots of different ways to serve pork are delicious. They used to get busted for trying to bring a lot of their favorites from home at Customs. If you try to smuggle pork rinds you know they are better than the ones we can get here!
There was a ship that was abandoned here with a mostly Filipino crew at Christmas time a few years ago. They weren't aloud to come ashore?
The local Filipino community came aside with their little boats & they hoisted up a whole pig & all the fixings for an Xmas dinner! They cooked it up on the deck.

I got frozen raw 16-20 prawns in my groceries.
I'll give them maybe 5 minutes on the boil with fresh lime juice.
Need to make some hoisin/honey/garlic sauce.
Need to make some peanut-soy condiment.

I got a call asking if I wanted some home-made chop suey.
My "Oh yeah" response got me a nice visit with a lovely lady who happens to be an excellent cook.
Just enough spiciness to the dish and enough for lunch tomorrow.
Brian T - Posted - 06/16/2020: 12:17:08
Nice going, Bubba. What plan do you have for them?
I've eaten a lot of Spots in YVR but given the choice now,
I'd rather try to pig out on BC scallops.
Lots of noise about a big First Nations scallop fishery out of Prince Rupert.
Nobody knows of any retail.
Spot prawn races on the kitchen floor were always good for a laugh.
Butter, garlic, white wine, sliced red & green peppers, sliced onions.
Boil hard for 5 minutes while I organize the bread & butter.

It's that time of year when English asparagus, Jersey Royal potatoes and strawberries appear on the menu at least once a week. Tonight all three with sea bass and a preserved lemon and caper beurre noisette. There's not much that's truly seasonal nowadays, so I make the most of what is.

Skillet pizza. The only thing homegrown in there is basil, but I did make the dough.
Kalamata olives, basil, pepperoncini, dry salami, crushed tomatos, mozarella. I decided against adding other cheeses.
I'll probably put some Lorenzo spice on it as well.
I also harvested the first two tomatos of the season. Supersweet 100 grape tomatos. They'll go in a salad tomorrow. If they last that long...

I was born and bred in that area Bob, and yes, that's how it's grown 'forced rhubarb' they call it. You can recreate the system on a smaller scale with a large upturned earthenware pot. Personally, my own rhubarb patch is exposed to the sunlight, but it does get treated to a good shovel of horse muck every once in a while when I'm on taxi duty bringing my wife home from the riding stables.

Now, I'd give that a very good coat of looking at! Can't beat meat wrapped in bread. We eat a lot of beef skirt - fortunately it's an underrated cut here so well priced still. We really like it flash cooked on the barbecue - which I believe you guys mistakenly call a grill ![]()

Our little business community is slowly reawakening.
Our pub, The Grizzly, opened at 4 PM today for indoor, sit-down.
Their new menu has calamari and I got an invitation to join them for a taste test.
They cut a pretty good home-made slaw.
I will be taking half a dozen different kinds of salt. The staff like that kind of novelty.
United States, England, Spain, maybe Morocco and India, Australia. Herb salts are all DIY.
Right now, it is "Tuna-Time" for Heidi-cat.
Brian T - Posted - 06/20/2020: 00:55:30
My dinner was as good as I had hoped. Calamari not over-cooked.
I was really hungry as well. Potato fries are always so-so. Slaw was yummy crunchy.
Started with a "Grey Sea Salt" which turned out to be really wet. Tasted OK.
As needed, I take a salt grinder mortar & pestle.
Nice way to entertain myself at meal time. Eating alone every night is such a drag.
I think next time, I'll bring some smoked salts to try with the squid.

Teach your kids to cook. It's a great (not to say necessary) life skill. We tried with both our daughters. Batting .500 at this point.

The recipe for the bread wasn't much different than others I've baked in the past, but the technique was.
Well, it darn sure came out good! Dang, I like this one! Baked in a dutch oven with the lid on for about 30 minutes at 450F, then took the lid off, scored, brushed with more olive oil, and baked for another 10-20 minutes at 375F with the lid off until a golden crust appeared and the internal temperature reached about 210F.

Barbecue and grill are sort of interchangeable here in New England, but in the South, barbecue refers to slow smoked meat cooked in a pit or over coals/fragrant wood.

Father’s Day steaks last night. Don’t know what cut you’d call it, but we call them Sirlon steaks. I like to ‘age’ them in the fridge for a few days by leaving them uncovered so the air can circulate round them - try it, it makes for an excellent steak. I didn’t get any pic of after and I forgot due to juggling the grill, fryer and oven..... I also forgot to turn the gas grill off, which cost me a full cylinder of propane!

I carry the "geezer's friend." A stopwatch. Not for exact time but to remind my forgetful self how long the grill has been on. It's just big enough for me to be mindful of the lump in my shirt pocket.
The smoker BBQ is different with a common cook time of 3 hours. Plan the start, we eat at 6 PM.
