BBQ Chicken Hoagies on toasted, sourdough buns. Black olives, pickles, spinach, red onion, creamy, pepper sauce made by a neighbor (it's like 1000 Island Dressing with diced up jalapenos in it), layer of deli ham (why? because there was some in the fridge), butter on one side on the bun, sour cream in the other. Laid out open under a broiler to melt some 3-Cheese blend. Yes, I was bored.
Kraft Mac with some peppers diced up in it. Crumbled up some bacon and crushed Ruffles on top, toasted the topping under the broiler for less than 30 seconds.
Apply with a cold, IPA in a mug fresh out of the freezer. No room for dessert.

Exceptional cardiac issues, you mean
It wasn't all my doing.
Leftover chicken from my granddaughters birthday party. Kids brought it over with the sourdough buns.
Sour cream because the BBQ sauce with the creamy, peppers dressing needed a little smoothing out, and ham, like Everest, because it was there. Really tasty sandwich.
Kraft Mac & Cheese because DIL and granddaughter love it.
Pro'lly be Haluski, beans and cornbread until the weekend.

I've gone low-carb: no sugar, no grains. We're eating a lot of meat as a result. Here's a piece I did over the weekend: a rolled legged of Ozzie lamb stuffed with garlic, rosemary, and thyme. A couple of hours in the smoker and several meals of deliciousness were the result.

Pleasant surprise yesterday. Realized that I had all the proper fixings for both Reuben and Monte Cristo sandwiches. One of each both last night and tonight. Been a decade or longer.

I'll pass on pheasants. Fantastic fun to shoot over dogs but gamey like ducks and worse than Canada Geese.
I can still remember the last Canada goose on my table. Wine braised, that fixes just about any fault in any kind of meat. I had used a iron stud finder to locate any steel shot so we were good to go there.
'Bout 2/3 of the way through dinner, I asked everybody if they believed that the goose was worth eating. Like liver with no bacon or onions. Everybody said yes, not good food.
No more 4AM starts with 40 jumbo decoys in a stiff wind and 20F.
Don't feel bad, I don't. Llama is eve worse.

Round these parts Canada Geese are about as welcome as Nickelback. They poop everywhere; they're aggressive to dogs and humans; and they are not good eating.
I must disagree with your assessment of pheasants: I've eaten them many times across the pond and find them rather delicious. But yes, watch out for pellets.

I have enough Reuben and Monte Cristo fixins' to load
some potato skins with a big whop of sour cream.
All get shots of Worcestershire and Tabasco Jalapeno juice.

my new favorite store-bought sandwich... Chicken Caesar Wrap from WalMart.
Chicken breast with rib meat, parmesan cheese, lettuce and Caesar dressing.
They've got 5 different combinations.I get 3 at a time and mix it up with a Southwest Chicken Wrap with grilled chicken breast with rib meat, fried red bell peppers and jalapenos, lettuce and chipotle dressing.
Made fresh in store every day.

1. Italian potato skins with mozza and pepperoni and green pepper.
2. Hawaiian with ham & pineapple chunks in Ranch dressing.
3. Home-grown with dice onion, 3 cheese, corned beef dice, Worcestershire &Tabasco Jalapeno.
It takes a dozen each to feed people chasing ruffed grouse in a wet alpine forest.
Tomorrow, I pan-fry the potato guts with olive oil, Greek seasoning (mint, cinnamon, etc) and a serious scallop and shrimp curry.

Funny story...
So...
We are doing a big to us rock job just down the street..
At the end of me day I goes to Hanks..fer 2..$2.50 loaded hotdogs..
I am at the order counter ordering..n I hears..
this voice I know..
Whining about the price of an order of whole belly clams..
It's me Buddy Frankie...
I turns around n there he is.. so I punch 'I'm in the shoulder..
He gets rattled n gets ready ta Duke it out..
I says to the girl at the counter.. gett'im what he wants..
On me..
I have not seen Frankie in months..as his health is really slippin..
But he made the great trek all the way to Hank's..
Just fer the clams...
But I know Frankie real well.. n he has had hard $ times as of late ..
He would have never paid the $28...for them...
So as fate would have it..
It cost me $40.00 fer 2 hot dogs.. plus tip.. ;0)
Well worth it... :0)

Was meant to be on date night on a mountain last night with my good friend ‘Stinky’ (long story
). We both live on opposite sides of a small mountain and we were gonna walk up, meet at the top and pitch a couple of tents, pour a few whisky's and shoot the bull. Anyway the weather turned and thunderstorms were due so stinky and i decided a rain cheque was in order. Best way I could console myself in my nice dry, lightning free house was to knock up a curry. Lamb Dopiaza (medium spice with lots of onion) and shop bought naan.
Brian T - Posted - 06/25/2022: 17:08:24
More Reubens and Monte Christos. Taste combos just too good to put away.
Gifted Fish & Chips from the pub last night so the seafood curry didn't happen.

Last night: I made cucumber, tomato, red onion, and radish salad in a lemon juice and Mayo dressing, reverse seared two 1-3/4” bone-in ribeyes, and wife sautéed mushrooms in red wine and butter, along with snacks.
Oh, did I mention it was to celebrate my admittance to the septuagenarian club. YIKES!

I forgot. For breakfast I made hack meal. Took a pre-cooked beef pattie and dry sliced it with stuff that goes in sausage then heated through, while also frying a couple of medium cooked eggs, and microwaved some bacon to warm that we fried a while back. Then layered it all together and sprinkled with some parsley and chive from our herb garden. Not a bad hack I must say. Wife stacked hers on an English muffin. Brad

Tonight: linguine with bacon, peas, and cream. And lots of garlic! Plus garlic bread.
slammer - Posted - 06/27/2022: 18:42:08
Oh Studly!!! I can honestly say that would be one of my “favorites” !!!
One of my goto’s is leftover Easter ham cut in strips and sautéed with garlic and mixed with fettuccine or linguine in a rich cream sauce finished with peas !!!
My mother is Sicilian , and growing up creamed garlic peas and pasta was a staple at our house for 2 reasons I surmise.
1. It was delicious!!!
2. It was dirt cheap!!!
I never missed any meat in the dish or even thought about it until I was using up some leftover ham years ago . Bacon is Ham’s big brother and I can taste it now even as I’m drooling!!!
Ya done good Liz !!!
Slammer!!!

Dale, that describes my Grandmother's cooking. She could start with next to nothing and turn out a tasty meal. The Great Depression taught some useful skills.

I love anything with pork shoulder, the but big issue is it's almost impossible to cook it for only two people. My wife and I have our kids off payroll (we're empty nesters) so trying to cook for the two of us is hard.

Once cooked, it's easy to portion out and freeze.
