Mary Z and BoB’s 2020 newsletter

Reporter, Bob Cox

2020 has been a strange and challenging year, largely because of the pandemic, but change is in the air! Top of our list is Natalie and Will expecting our first grandchild, Violet, but the blessings don’t stop there. Gordon has been applying some of his many talents to renovating an old house he bought. He hasn’t let us see it yet but we know that it will be stunning. The blessings don’t stop there. After many years on the other side of the world, and then the other side of the country, Sato and Sidney have moved to North Carolina. This beautiful, peaceful area should provide an inspirational setting for Sato’s online yoga teacher training business. Finally, a family reunion for all the immediate family is a reasonable expectation!

Mary Z has some good news. Last February we traveled on a whim to the Deep South Regional Mountain Dulcimer Championship. Mary Z had not participated in mountain dulcimer championships in quite a while but she played really well and won! This awarded her one of ten slots in the mountain dulcimer national championship which is part of the legendary Walnut Valley national championships in Winfield Kansas. The contest has been put off until 2021 but Mary Z will still have her slot to compete. She is learning and playing some fine new banjo and dulcimer music. Check out maryzcox.com to keep up to date.

After nearly 50 years of state service, I finally decided to retire at the end of November from my gig as an education policy analyst for the legislature. Not an easy decision, but it was time. I’m looking forward to travelling, gardening, cooking, and new adventures.

We lost our sweet dog, Elvis, this year at the ripe old age of 16. We have had many dogs, but Elvis was unique. Quite a character! Things have gone well otherwise because we live in a beautiful natural area with plenty of outdoors away from crowds. Lots of camping and bike riding

. We hope all is well with each of you and that you and yours are finding ways to cope with the pandemic without too much stress. Joy, peace, love and blessings to each and every one.
