More banjo player pictures on the way. First off, I wanted to show everyone some of the problems that central Florida is facing in the wake of the recent tornado damage. This is in The Villages, and all the blue tarps cover damaged homes. This area is only a tiny portion of what was hit by one of 7 massive tornadoes.

I know this is all about banjo players, but I'm proud to offer brand new pictures of Grasstowne!
Phil Leadbetter, Lee Sawyer, Steve Gulley, Alan Bibey and Jason Davis. GREAT, GREAT BAND!

The Duke of Drive, Terry Baucom. Blake Williams and I agree that Baucom is past due for a solo project. He's influenced a lot of pickers!
Back with the Larry Stephenson Band, and appearing happy about it, is Kristin Scott Benson. Nice touch.

Dean is a real pro! It was a pleasure getting to meet him and talk with him. He does take some awesome pictures. He has the right equipment to get those shots. Until I can upgrade I'll just have to stick with the fixed lens digital. Dean how did the picture of the two of us come out? Anyway, Dean is a class guy and I am proud to include as a friend!

Oh yes, this is my favorite thread as well. Hopefully I will be getting some shots this coming weekend at the Bluegrass First Class in Asheville NC........anyone else going to be there?

Milton Harkey in Asheville, N.C. put on a grand show this weekend at the Crowne Resort Plaza. He brought in a great gathering of artists and vendors for the 12th consecutive year. This year's acts included these to name a few...James KIng Band, Wyatt Rice and Santa Cruz, Seldom Scene, The Grascals, Rhonda Vincent & the Rage, Michael Cleveland and Audie Blaylock and the Flamekeepers, John Starling and Carolina Star, IIIrd Tyme Out, and Asheville's own Iron Station to the mainstage. I only attended J.D. Crowe's workshop on Saturday and the concerts on Saturday....but here's some pics of the festivities....enjoy! BTW, enjoyed meeting some fellow pickers and BHO'ers. ![]()

Looks like Lloyd Douglas on banjo for Mike Cleveland.Heard he's working on the railroad.Last time I saw him he was filling in on bass for the Dillards. He picked some banjo with Doug on that show while his brother came up and played bass.Rodney introduced the act as"the brother Douglas and the brothers Douglas"set.

How was Tom McKinney doing? I talked to him on the phone during the NAMM show, and he didn't sound like he was feeling too well... Hope he was in fine form at the festival. I just got s.n. 9557-1 from him, and Kathy Chiavola is looking after a 1952 D-28 I also got from Tom, so for me The Crasher is a guru, sure thing, but also a pusher! Tom McKinney, a.k.a. Here's a couple from last nights show at Everett's Music Barn in Suwanee Ga. Joey Cox is now slinging the ol' 5 with Kenny and Amanda Smith. If you get a chance to catch them, you should, they can really hammer it out. Joey was telling me that this banjo is a '35 Gibson TB-1, Huber ring, with a Frank Neat neck. He can really mash it as well!
