Mr Hoffmeyer, those are some of the best shots I have seen. The background with Kenny Ingram black on black is outstanding, the way it draws you to his face and banjo. The Cia Cherryholmes portrait against the Stars and Stripes is as American as apple pie. 2 thumbs up!!

Could you tell me where you took the Kenny Ingram shot?

Sure, he was on stage with the Rage during their outdoor evening show in Ladysmith, Va.

One of the things I've started recently is photography for CDs, in addition to my newspaper job. Ever notice how much better the bluegrass music inside is than the look of the CD on the outside?
I want to help change that.
That's Steve Sparkman, Kenny Ingram and Cia Cherryholmes (with Jere watching the photo boy closely)

I didn't actually take this photo--it came off Mark's camera and he sent it to me.

That is most assuredly my Granada in the first picture on page 3.
When I stopped playing I put it back to all original.
During my playing days I used a Presto tailpiece because I
could change strings so much faster.Pictured is the original clamshell.
I also used a geared thumb peg...
this picture shows the original friction peg, I also returned the original tuners to their proper home.
The pancakes are so much better than the
original Granada tuners.
That definitley is 9584-2.
Of note:
The picture of Rob and Earl...Rob is playing a Chief banjo....so is Wes Vanderpool.

Cool to see the pic of Ben and Chris Eldridge. I just listened earlier today to a live CD of Chris' band "The Stringdusters" and yes, he sure can play that 6-string. Between him and Chris Pandolfi on banjo, wow, that's one talented (and young) group of pickers!
Keep those great pics coming, I'm really enjoying them.

I had a very productive "me with banjo players" weekend - Bela on Friday, Pete Wernick,
Cia Cherryholmes, and Kenny Ingram at Gettysburng yesterday. My 'Banjo Heroes' wall
is almost complete. Well, Cia is too young to have been one of my heroes, but you know,
figured it couldn't hurt to have a photo taken with her. ![]()
Since I doubt anybody wants to see four photos of me, I will instead post a couple pics of

I've sorta been ignoring this topic for some reason. What a mistake. I looked at every picture closely. I like the ones where the picker is named along with what type of banjo he plays. I guess this just adds a little more "flavor" to it.
Thanks for every pic.

Hot off of the flash card....and it was HOT at the Red White and Bluegrass festival in Morganton NC as well!
Ron Stewart and the Man himself, in the warm up tent before their show.
Just after Ron smoked a fiddle tune. You can see a lot of mutual respect for each others musical ability.
Ron was filling in with Kenny and Amanda Smith. It was the first time filling in with them. Sure couldn't tell it though, the man has some tallent.
Barry Abermathy. What can you say? He is amazing. They had the house sound way too LOUD though.
Josh McMurray with Larry Sparks. He always has great tone.
Now the best looking of the weekend.....Kristin Scott Benson, with Larry Cordle, 6 1/2 months pregnant as well! She even took lessons from my old banjo instructor, Al Osteen....he has taught many a picker in this area, I think Kristin was a better student, she sure can pick!
I'll try to post a few more as I can get to them.

Casey Henry - daughter of Murphy and Red - and her brother Chris at Gettysburg last weekend.
Their band, Casey & Chris and the Two Stringers, has been together about a year-and-a-half,
and basically consists of the two of them and guitarist Tyler Grant, with a rotating cast of bassists
(as you can see, Marshall Wilborn filled in with them at Gettysburg).

during his last three years with the band (1990-1993).
The group's instruments are owned by the Navy.

I guess I'll post my 2 cents....First,
one that was taked in 1958 when this
fellow was playing with Jim & Jesse. That's a RB-250
and a smile that you never saw on "Hee Haw."
Note how loose and free flowing his right-hand is.
Next, the sadest photo in Bluegrass...
All Three of these men knew they were dieing
when this photo was taked in 1996.
That's John, Vasser and Bobby.
